NAYAGARH, June 19, (Report- Ramakrushna Rath): Acharya Academy organised a grand felicitation ceremony in Nayagarh today. The event took place at the Pathani Samanta Sanskruti Bhavan. The organisers arranged this program to honour bright students and successful civil service candidates. They celebrated the huge success of students who scored top A-1 grades in their Matriculation and Class 12 board exams. They also honoured dedicated candidates who cleared the tough Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) examination.

Many important people attended this special gathering. Dr. Sambit Patra, the Member of Parliament from Puri, joined the event as the Chief Guest. Smt. Cuttack, June 19 (Rupashree Swetapadma Mohanty): The district-level convention ‘Vikashara Dhara Odisha Sara’ was held at Netaji Sanskriti Bhawan, Odia Bazar, on Thursday to mark the completion of two years of the state government and highlight its developmental initiatives and achievements.

At the outset, Collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde delivered the welcome address and presented the vision for Viksit Cuttack-2036. He also briefed the gathering on the district-level implementation of various state welfare schemes.
Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo attended as the chief guest and presented a detailed account of the government’s ongoing projects. He emphasized that the administration has been working continuously to meet public needs and ensure the all-round development of Odisha.

The Deputy CM noted that targeted policy interventions in agriculture, education, healthcare, infrastructure, women empowerment, and youth welfare are yielding visible results. He pointed to the expansion of irrigation coverage, infrastructure upgrades in schools, strengthened healthcare facilities, and improved rural road networks as key milestones. He added that the continuation and reinforcement of state initiatives like Mission Shakti and robust skill development programs have expanded economic opportunities for women and youth alike.
On power supply, he said four new grid connections have been commissioned, and solar facilities are being extended under the PM Surya Ghar scheme. He added that cards have been distributed to farmers under the CM Kisan scheme. Vegetables from Badamba, Banki, and Athagarh are now being exported abroad, he said. Citing low rainfall due to El Niño, he stressed the use of short-duration, high-yielding seed varieties.
Jagatsinghpur MP Bibhu Prasad Tarai, Barabati-Cuttack MLA Er. Sofia Firdous, Niali MLA Chhabi Malik, Cuttack Sadar MLA Er. Prakash Chandra Sethi, and BJP Cuttack District (Rural) President Ram Narayan Mohanty attended as guests of honour.

MP Bibhu Prasad Tarai stated that the government aims to boost small and medium industries while ensuring that drinking water, old-age pensions, electricity, and other essential services reach every individual in the state. The organisers held a grand state-level event at Jayadev Bhawan in Bhubaneswar. During this event, they also hosted the "Odisha Pratibha Samman 2026" award ceremony. Many famous people, writers, and journalists attended this beautiful program to celebrate the success of the publication.

Harassed & Falsely Jailed: Female Sarapanch Threatens Mass Protest Over Police Inaction

KENDRAPARA, (Report- Saroj Pani): The situation in Kendrapara has taken a serious turn. Chameli Ojha, the Sarpanch (village head) of Tikhiri Panchayat, is demanding immediate justice. She recently faced harassment, threats, and physical attacks at the Mahakalapada Block Development Officer (BDO) office.

Upset with the lack of police action, she has written a formal letter to the Director General of Police (DGP) and the Inspector General (IG) of the Central Range. She gave a clear warning: if the police do not arrest the accused people by June 24, she will start an indefinite mass protest in front of the Kendrapara Superintendent of Police (SP) office.
In her letter, the Sarpanch explained the exact events of that day. Development work in her village had stopped for several months. To fix this problem, she visited the Mahakalapada BDO, Rabinarayan Acharya, on the 11th of this month. A few other village leaders went with her. While she was giving her complaint, the BDO called some supporters of the local political leader. These individuals entered the office and started abusing her. They snatched her mobile phone, attacked her, and threatened her with severe harm.
The situation got worse when the attackers called the local police. Instead of helping the victim, the Mahakalapada police took the Sarpanch and her younger brother to the police station. She stated that a female police officer hit her inside the police vehicle. Furthermore, the Inspector in Charge (IIC) at the police station used bad language and threatened to put her in jail. She filed a formal complaint that same day. However, the police did not include the names of the BDO, the female police officer, or the IIC in the official report. They registered a case against seven other people but did not arrest anyone.
Instead of getting justice, the police sent the Sarpanch and her brother to jail on false charges. She recently received bail and is currently taking medical treatment at the Kendrapara district hospital. She feels very unsafe right now. She stated that the accused persons hold political power and walk free without any fear. Because of this, she and her family face a continuous threat to their safety.
The Sarpanch expressed deep disappointment with the district police leadership. She mentioned that the video of the attack at the BDO office is already playing on local television channels. Despite having clear video proof, the Kendrapara SP has not taken any strict action. Therefore, she requested the top police officials to step in immediately. If the authorities fail to arrest all the accused people within seven days, she will sit on an indefinite strike to fight for her rights.

High Drama: Officials & Servitors Clash at Titilagarh Rath Yatra Meeting!

Titilagarh: (Report- Tirthankar Patel): Officials in Titilagarh held an important meeting to prepare for the upcoming Rath Yatra festival. They gathered at the local Kalyan Mandap. Padmanabh Samantaray, the Sub-Collector and President of the Dhabaleswar Dadhibaman Trust, led the meeting. However, an unexpected argument stopped the meeting for a short time.

Right at the start of the meeting, a man named Hari Bahidar stood up to speak. He talked about a topic that was not on the main agenda. He asked the officials to bring back the temple land from people who currently hold it. This topic quickly created tension in the room.
The Sub-Collector started to answer this man. This action upset the temple servitors. The servitors asked the Sub-Collector why he answered questions outside the main plan without stopping the speaker. They spoke loudly and showed their anger. The servitors argued with the Sub-Collector for a long time. The situation became very heated. Finally, the Sub-Collector decided to stay completely silent. His silence helped to calm down the angry people and bring back peace to the hall.
Many important guests attended the meeting. Navin Jain, the local Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), sat on the main stage. He watched the whole argument but did not say a single word. His silence surprised many people in the room.

Nayagarh, (Report- Ramakrushna Rath): The people of Nayagarh recently celebrated the famous Odia festival of Raja with immense joy and enthusiasm. Pradipta Prakash Acharya, a young film producer and social worker, organised a grand event called "Raja Mauja." He hosted this unique celebration at the Pathani Samanta Auditorium in Nayagarh, bringing the community together for a day of fun.

Raja is a major cultural festival in the state of Odisha. It honors womanhood and celebrates the changing seasons. During this three-day festival, women and girls take a break from their daily work. They wear new clothes, play on swings, and eat traditional sweets. The event in Nayagarh perfectly captured the true spirit of this beautiful tradition.

Nayagarh, (Report- Ramakrushna Rath): Nayagarh District Administration started a new campaign today to stop child labor. Leaders want to remove this practice from society completely. They also want to teach the public about children's rights. To achieve this goal, the administration launched a special vehicle called the "awareness chariot."

At 8:00 AM today, Sub-Collector Karndeb Samadar officially started the campaign. He waved a green flag at the District Collector's office to send the chariot on its way. This morning event marked the beginning of a major district-wide effort to protect young people.
Divisional Labor Commissioner Tej Kumar Bage managed and supervised the entire program. Under his careful guidance, the awareness chariot traveled through Nayagarh town. After finishing the main town route, the vehicle visited many different rural blocks across the district.

SINAPALI, (Report- Malay Meher): Serious allegations of corruption and procedural violations have stalled public trust in ongoing Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and Central Finance Commission (CFC) projects in Liad village, located in the Sinapali block of Nuapada district.

Despite crores of rupees being poured into rural development, local residents accuse officials of flouting government guidelines by replacing manual laborers with heavy machinery, cutting corners on materials, and operating with zero transparency.

Multi-Lakh Projects Under Scrutiny

The controversy centers on three distinct local developments:

A ₹10 lakh road construction project connecting Kaparmal Chhak to Dongarmunda.
A ₹25 lakh excavation and renovation project at the Liad Big Pond.
A ₹4 lakh CFC-funded development at the Gaduwal and Gadhua Tooth ponds.

Core Allegations by Villagers

Locals have raised several red flags regarding how these funds are being utilized on the ground:

Machines Replacing Manual Labor: The primary objective of MGNREGA is to guarantee wage employment to rural laborers. However, villagers allege that contractors are using tractors and heavy machinery to execute the work, directly violating the scheme’s core mandate and depriving locals of jobs.
Misappropriation of Materials: Soil excavated from the Liad Big Pond—which is meant to fortify the pond's own embankments—is allegedly being transported by tractors to build the Kaparmal–Dongarmunda road. Villagers fear this compromises the quality of the pond renovation while inflating the billing for the road construction.
Zero Transparency: None of the work sites feature the mandatory government information boards. By law, these boards must publicly display the project's name, estimated budget, timeline, labor days generated, and the names of the responsible officials.
Unauthorised Supervision: Residents claim the husband of a local Gram Sathi is unofficially acting as a site supervisor. Villagers state they have photographic and video evidence of his daily involvement, raising questions about who is actually managing these state-funded projects.

Calls for an Impartial Probe

Officially, the projects fall under the monitoring of Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) Kshema Sagar Sahu, with technical supervision handled by Junior Engineer (JE) Sangram Kesari Parida. However, villagers state that no clarification has been offered regarding the missing signboards or the use of heavy machinery.

Outraged citizens are now demanding swift administrative intervention to protect public funds. They have appealed to the District Collector, the Project Director of the District Rural Development Agency (PD-DRDA), the Sinapali Block Development Officer (BDO), and senior MGNREGA officials to launch an immediate, impartial inquiry and take strict legal action against any officials or agencies found guilty of malpractice.

Bhubaneswar, (Report- Lipikarani Raut): The Itsha Foundation hosted a grand cultural event called "Hum Basti Ke Hasti" yesterday evening. The organisers held this beautiful program at Janata Maidan. A large crowd gathered to watch the show and support the local talent. The main goal of this special event was very clear. The foundation wanted to provide a big stage for talented children living in slum areas. These young children finally received a wonderful chance to show their hidden skills to the world.

The vibrant event brought together more than 500 traditional artists and local people. Everyone celebrated this famous agricultural festival of Odisha with great joy and enthusiasm.

The Maa Banadevi Cultural Group of Tengedapathar organized this beautiful cultural event. They proudly partnered with the Department of Odia Language, Literature, and Culture, Government of Odisha, to make the festival a huge success. Smt. Nimapada: (Report- Ajaya Mallik): The Charichhak Community Health Centre in Nimapada faces serious complaints of mismanagement and poor administration. This facility is the second oldest health center in the Puri district. It also manages several smaller health centers in nearby villages, including Balanga, Rench, Nua Santha, and Bada Ninigaon. Recently, local residents and media outlets have raised their voices against the ongoing issues at this facility.

Government rules clearly state that an employee must transfer to a new location after completing three years of service. However, key officials like the Block Account Manager and the Block Program Manager have worked at this center for more than six years. Local citizens demand a proper investigation into this unusually long stay. They believe this extended tenure causes many of the current administrative problems.
The community reports several specific financial and operational irregularities. For instance, locals claim that officials misdirected the salary funds of the support staff and security guards. They allegedly sent this money to private accounts instead of paying the actual workers. Furthermore, officials misused government vehicles for personal trips to towns like Puri and Sakhigopal. People also noticed the mismanagement of funds intended for daily patient meals.
Other reports suggest that the center bought daily medical supplies at very high rates and submitted questionable bills to cover the extra costs. In addition, old air conditioning units simply vanished when the center installed four new units. The Patient Welfare Committee, which should help patients, currently exists only on paper and does no actual work. Because of these ongoing issues, new doctors often refuse to join this health center.
Earlier, the Director of the National Health Mission issued a letter in November 2024 ordering the transfer of both managers. Yet, the local administration ignored this order for a long time. After heavy media pressure, the Chief District Medical Officer finally took partial action on June 12, 2026. The officer transferred the Block Program Manager of Charichhak to the Gop health center. In return, the manager from Gop will now join Charichhak.

Despite this recent order, the Block Account Manager and the Chief Medical Officer still remain at the Charichhak center. Local citizens suspect that unfair pressure stopped these necessary transfers. The Puri district has many health managers across its eleven blocks, but the administration only moved four people recently. The public strongly views this action as incomplete.

Odisha Voter List 2026 Update: Key Dates & New Rules You Must Know!

Bhubaneswar: The Chief Electoral Officer of Odisha held a press conference today to explain the upcoming voter list update process. The state will officially start the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls for 2026 tomorrow. Election officials gave a detailed presentation about the program at the state media center.

State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) R.S. Gopalan led the meeting. He announced the complete schedule following the direct orders of the Election Commission of India. The government has set July 1, 2026, as the qualifying date for this revision program.

Preparation and Key Dates

The election office finished all printing and preparation work by May 29, 2026. Officials also completed the necessary training for all Booth Level Officers (BLOs).

Door-to-Door Verification: May 30 – June 28, 2026. Booth Level Officers visit homes to collect and verify voter data.
Polling Station Reorganization: June 28, 2026. The election office reorganizes and finalizes polling station layouts.
Draft Voter List Publication: July 5, 2026. The government publishes the initial draft of the electoral roll.
Claims and Objections Period: July 5 – August 4, 2026. Voters can officially file their claims and raise objections regarding the draft list.
Resolution of Claims: July 5 – September 2, 2026. Officials review and resolve all submitted notices, claims, and objections.
Final Voter List Publication: September 6, 2026. The state officially publishes the final, updated voter list.

Door-to-Door Verification Process

The state deployed 45,255 Booth Level Officers for this massive statewide task. These officers will visit every house to collect information. They will give two pre-printed enumeration forms to each voter. These forms collect personal details, family information, and data related to the 2002 voter list.

The officers will check the details directly during their visit and correct any minor mistakes immediately. CEO Gopalan instructed the officers to stay highly alert. They must make sure that they include every eligible Indian voter. They also must ensure that they exclude all ineligible people from the voter list.
When a voter fills out the forms, the officer will take one copy. The officer will sign the second copy and give it back to the voter as a formal receipt. Voters must keep this receipt safe for future reference.
Officers will also actively help new voters register. They will provide new voters with Form-6 and a special declaration form. Alternatively, tech-savvy voters can download these forms from the official website (voters.eci.gov.in) and upload the completed documents online.

Mapping and Transparency

Election officials have successfully mapped 31,603,323 voters, which equals 94.61% of the electorate, with the previous voter list from the 2002 revision. Voters who missed the initial mapping phase can still provide their information during the current process to get properly mapped.
To keep the election process fair and transparent, the CEO asked all political parties to appoint Booth Level Agents for every polling station. Recognized political parties have already appointed 33,026 agents across the state to assist with the process.

Safety Measures for Officers

The state government announced special rules to protect field officers from the extreme summer heatwave. Officers will only do fieldwork from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM and from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Authorities strictly ordered the officers to avoid working outside between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
The CEO also spoke with district police chiefs and local registration officers to guarantee the physical safety of the field staff. The police will provide immediate protection if officers face any difficult situations during their duty.

Massive 18-Day Crackdown: Odisha Police Arrests 520 & Seizes 7,300+ kg Drugs

BHUBANESWAR, May 29, 2026 (Report- Priya Ranjan Nayak): The Odisha Police have achieved major success in an 18-day statewide special drive against crime. Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania directed this massive operation.
The drive started on May 12. District Superintendents of Police and the Commissioner of Police for Bhubaneswar-Cuttack led the ground teams. Additional Director General (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar supervised the entire operation across the state. The main goals included executing pending warrants, catching missing criminals, stopping drug smuggling, and improving road safety.

Major Arrests and Warrants

Police officers took strict action across all districts. They executed 5,703 non-bailable warrants in just 18 days. The teams tracked down and arrested 520 absconding individuals and sent them to court. They also took legal action against hundreds of habitual lawbreakers under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) to prevent future crimes.

Massive Drug Seizures

The police struck a heavy blow against drug networks. They registered 97 cases and arrested 137 people for smuggling illegal substances. Officers seized a massive 7,398 kilograms of marijuana. They also recovered 586 grams of brown sugar, 220 grams of heroin, and hundreds of bottles of banned cough syrup. In addition, the teams confiscated 27 vehicles and over 2.9 lakh rupees in cash from the smugglers.

Traffic Rules and Road Safety

Road safety remained a top priority during the drive. Police officers caught 3,293 people driving under the influence of alcohol and seized their vehicles immediately. Furthermore, the authorities collected over 6.46 crore rupees in fines from drivers who broke various traffic rules.

Action Against Illegal Mining and Smuggling

The special drive also targeted the illegal mining business. Officers registered 654 cases and arrested 162 people. They seized 878 heavy vehicles, including trucks and tractors, used for illegal transport. To stop animal smuggling, police rescued 284 cattle and arrested 13 people. They also seized 39 illegal firearms and 29 live bullets from criminals.

Maternity Home Celebrates Sixth Foundation Day in Tikabali

TIKABALI: (Akulananda Digal): The state government plans to build a fully developed Odisha by the year 2036. To reach this goal, health officials must improve care for mothers and babies. Better health care safely lowers the number of health risks for pregnant women and newborns. Safe hospital deliveries play a big part in this effort.

The Kandhamal District Health Society opened several 'Maa Gruha' or Maternity Homes in village areas. These homes teach people about safe childbirth. They work to stop risky home deliveries. They also help pregnant women eat better and stay healthy. A local group named 'SWATI' helps run one of these Maternity Homes in Chhatijhar village of Tikabali. This center opened its doors in May 2020.
Recently, the Chhatijhar Maternity Home celebrated its sixth foundation day. The staff held a special meeting. They named the meeting "The Role of Maternity Homes for a Developed Odisha 2036."

Focusing on Health and Nutrition

Sunitarani Das, a child development officer, attended the event as the chief guest. She spoke to the crowd about family care. She said every family needs good health and nutrition services. She asked local health workers to find families who lack information. She told the workers to teach these families about healthy habits.
Dr. Jyotiranjan Jena, a public health officer, also spoke at the meeting. He explained the government's plans for these care centers. He listed the free health services available at the Maternity Home. He invited more pregnant women to come forward and use these free benefits.

The Chhatijhar Maternity Home shows a wonderful success rate. Since opening day, the staff has safely cared for 2,112 pregnant women. Local villagers thank the organization for its excellent work and dedication.
