Bhubaneswar: Delhi Police arrested a 22-year-old man from Bhubaneswar today. The arrested man is Sheikh Imran. He lives in the Unit-6 area of the city. A special team from Delhi caught him. The local Commissionerate Police helped the Delhi team with this operation.

Bhubaneswar: The Central Government of India has given more time to the Mahanadi Water Disputes Tribunal. The Ministry of Jal Shakti issued a formal notice to announce this new decision. Bhubaneswar: (11/04) Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi started his three-day visit to the Keonjhar district today. He attended several public events. He also launched many new development projects on his first day. These projects aim to improve travel, education, and road safety for the local people.

Arrival and Temple Visit

The Chief Minister arrived at the Bodapalasa football ground at 11:30 AM by helicopter. From the helipad, he went directly to the nearby Chandrashekhar temple. He offered his prayers at the temple. The temple committee members welcomed him warmly with a grand reception.

Inauguration of the Aradei Stream Bridge

After the temple visit, the Chief Minister inaugurated a new bridge. Engineers built this new bridge over the Aradei stream. The people of Bodapalasa Gram Panchayat and five nearby panchayats waited a long time for this project.

More than 5,000 local residents will now use this bridge for their daily travel.

DARINGBADI, April 11(Report- Methw Mithamajhi): A tragic road accident took place in the Daringbadi area of the Kandhamal district, resulting in the loss of a life. A Bolero and a motorcycle collided near the Panchupali intersection, claiming the life of the motorcycle rider at the scene.

Police identified the man as Saswat Nayak, a resident of Kumbharabadi village.
According to local reports, Saswat left his village on his motorcycle and headed toward the Daringbadi block office for some urgent work. During his journey, a Bolero suddenly struck his vehicle. Saswat sadly passed away immediately following the crash.

NH-55 Accident: Fatal Truck Crash on Oranda Overbridge

Cuttack: (Report- Rupashree S Mohanty): A serious road accident took place on the Oranda overbridge early Friday morning. This overbridge falls under the Gurudijhatia police area in Athagarh. At around 4:00 AM, two large commercial vehicles collided on the highway. A fast-moving truck carrying stone chips crashed directly into the back of a slow-moving transport vehicle. The second vehicle carried a heavy load of iron rods. Sadly, the driver of the first truck lost his life at the accident scene.

Details of the Incident

Reports state that the truck with stone chips traveled from Cuttack towards Athagarh. The driver moved at a high speed. He failed to slow down in time on the overbridge and hit the heavy transport vehicle ahead of him. The iron rods extended far out from the back of the front truck. These metal rods caused severe damage to the front cabin of the fast-moving truck. The driver became trapped inside his damaged vehicle and passed away immediately.

Emergency Response and Rescue

Local citizens quickly informed the authorities about the morning crash. The Athagarh Fire Services team and the Gurudijhatia Police responded to the emergency call. SALEPUR, April 11, 2026 (Report- Sishukrishna Nanda): A major road accident happened early today on the Kendrapara-Salepur National Highway. Two passenger buses, named "Papu" and "Mahalaxmi," crashed while traveling from Kendrapara to Cuttack.

The bus drivers tried to overtake each other on the highway. They lost control of their vehicles. Both buses drove off the road and rolled into a nearby field.
Around 50 passengers rode in the two vehicles. Local residents saw the crash and quickly ran to help. The residents rescued the passengers from the buses. They found about 10 people with injuries and called for medical help. Ambulances took the injured passengers to the main hospital for treatment.
Salepur police officers arrived at the scene shortly after the crash. The police started an investigation into the incident.

Nayagarh: (Report- Ramakrushna Rath): Model Degree College in Lathipada successfully hosted its Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony for 2025. The college organised this event to bring out hidden talents and promote overall excellence among the students.

Event Highlights

The organisers started the program with the traditional lighting of the lamp. Students then performed a formal welcome song. Dr. Manas Ranjan Satapathy, the Principal of the college, chaired the meeting. He distributed prizes to the meritorious students. 3 Arrested for Highway Truck Robbery in Kendrapara

KENDRAPARA: (Report- Saroj Pani): Tantiapal Marine Police in the Mahakalapada block achieved a major success recently. Officers arrested three suspects connected to a recent highway robbery.
The robbery happened late at night on the 6th of the month. The suspects stopped two trucks near the Bandhapada intersection. They attacked the truck drivers and helpers. During the event, the suspects took 40,000 rupees and three mobile phones. One driver suffered injuries during the attack.

The injured driver filed a written complaint at the Tantiapal Marine Police Station. Following the complaint, Police Inspector Rati Ranjan Nayak registered a case and started an investigation. The police team moved quickly and identified the people involved.
Officers arrested three men:

Sanjay Pradhan (also known as Biju) from Badapalli village
Ankush Jena from Thakur Patna village
Jhantu Jena from Adarapali village

Police seized 20,000 rupees, two mobile phones, and a bicycle from the arrested men. Officers also recovered the items used during the robbery. The police sent the three suspects to the local court.
Inspector Nayak stated that the police team will catch the remaining suspects very soon.

BHANJANAGAR: (Report- Jaya Krishna Patnaik): In a significant boost for Civil Services aspirants in Ganjam, the district administration is all set to launch free UPSC coaching centers. Meritorious students will no longer need to relocate to expensive educational hubs like Delhi or Bhubaneswar, as they can soon access top-tier training right in their home district.

Under the "Ganjam Lakshya Niketan" project, spearheaded by Ganjam Collector V. Keerthi Vasan, three dedicated training centers are being established across the district's three sub-divisions: Bhanjanagar, Chhatrapur, and Berhampur.
In Bhanjanagar, the coaching center is currently being developed on the premises of the local CT School. The district administration is investing substantial funds to build a state-of-the-art infrastructure, which is nearing completion.
Ahead of its imminent launch, Collector V. Keerthi Vasan visited the Bhanjanagar facility on Wednesday to review the progress of the ongoing work. He was accompanied by Samir Kumar Jena, Chief Development Officer (CDO) of Ganjam Zilla Parishad, and Uma Shankar Behera, Sub-Collector of Bhanjanagar. During the inspection, the Collector directed the concerned departmental engineers to expedite the remaining construction and ensure the facility is ready at the earliest.
Bhanjanagar Block Development Officer (BDO) Bharati Devi, Assistant Executive Engineer Nityananda Patra, and Assistant Engineer Rabindra Kumar Nayak were also present during the Collector's visit.

India's Press Sewa Portal: Fast & Easy Newspaper Registration Online

The Indian government provide a new online platform to make registering magazines and newspapers much easier. This new system, called the Press Sewa Portal, aims to remove old, slow, and complicated administrative processes. Now, publishers can expect a faster, smoother, and clearer registration experience. The updated system directly follows the rules of the newly implemented Press and Registration of Periodicals Act, 2023.

Under this new law, specific local government officers play a highly important role. The government refers to these officers as "Specified Authorities." In most cases, the local District Magistrate takes on this vital responsibility. To assist them, the Press Registrar General of India created a special, secure dashboard on the new portal just for these authorities. They use this dedicated dashboard to review new applications, provide comments, and give their official approval online.
When a publisher submits a new application, the local officer must thoroughly check several important details. First, the officer verifies the exact location where the publication will print and operate. Next, they confirm the true identity and background of the publisher, editor, and owner. If a person buys an existing magazine, the officer must verify the new owner's business address and history. The officer also ensures that all applicants have a clean legal record and pose no risk to the security of the country.
The government expects these officers to work quickly to avoid unnecessary delays for businesses. The law gives them exactly sixty days to review an application and share their final comments on the portal. To keep the process highly secure and organized, the portal allows only one official account for each district. The main officer cannot pass the online application down to junior staff through the web portal. If the main officer needs junior staff to visit a local address for a physical check, they must manage that communication locally outside the online system. The designated main officer remains fully responsible for submitting the final official decision online.
Recently, the government added a new technology feature to make the portal even more secure. Local officers can now use a Digital Signature Certificate to officially authenticate and approve new registrations. This digital signature acts as a highly secure online stamp. The portal still supports existing electronic signing methods, giving officers multiple ways to work. Officers must purchase their own digital signature tools locally, but the government provides a helpful instruction manual to set everything up. For any technical issues, users can quickly contact a dedicated IT support team via email.

They stole several sarees and dresses. Sangeeta discovered the theft and filed an official complaint at the Bidanasi Police Station.

Investigation and Recovery

The police registered a case and began their investigation. Officers reviewed CCTV footage and gathered local intelligence. The evidence pointed to a group of minors living in the Nadikula slum, which falls under the CDA Phase 2 Police Station area.
Earlier today, a police team raided the slum. They successfully caught the three minors. Officers also seized the stolen goods from their possession. They called this district-level event 'Shishu Katha Divas' or Children's Story Day. The organisers held this program to connect young students with the Odia language, literature, and culture.
