Here are the biggest free-agent agreements to come out of day one of the NFL's legal-tampering period.

NFL stars were on the move even before the start of Monday’s free-agent frenzy.

The Los Angeles Rams filled their biggest need with the addition of cornerback Trent McDuffie, sending a four-pick package, including a first-rounder, to the Kansas City Chiefs to do so.

The Baltimore Ravens paid an even more premium price — two first-round picks — to acquire All-Pro pass rusher Maxx Crosby from the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Buffalo Bills sent a second-round pick to the Chicago Bears for wide receiver D.J. Moore, giving quarterback Josh Allen a much-needed new weapon.

And on Monday morning, the Dallas Cowboys reportedly agreed to trade a fourth-round pick to the Green Bay Packers for defensive lineman Rashan Gary, a 2024 Pro Bowler who is owed $42 million over the next two seasons.

All of those deals helped set the stage for this offseason’s two-day legal-tampering period, which began Monday at noon.

During the legal-tampering period, teams and agents are able to discuss and agree to contracts for free-agent players. While those players can’t officially sign until the new league year officially starts Wednesday, the terms of many contracts will become known before then.

Here are the biggest free-agent agreements to come out of day one:

WALKER TO CHIEFS

The Kansas City Chiefs hope the Super Bowl’s reigning MVP can help them get back to the big game.

Kenneth Walker III is set to sign with the Kansas City Chiefs, according to NFL media.

The 25-year-old running back, who totaled 161 yards in the Seattle Seahawks’ Super Bowl victory, rushed for 1,027 yards on 4.6 yards per carry last regular season.

The Giants were among the teams linked to Walker.

PIERCE STAYS IN INDY

Alec Pierce parlayed a breakout season into a major payday.

The wide receiver reached a four-year, $114 million contract to remain with the Indianapolis Colts, according to NFL Media. The contract includes $84 million in guaranteed money.

Pierce, 25, was the top receiver on the free-agent market after he recorded 47 catches for 1,003 yards and six touchdowns while leading the NFL with 21.3 yards per reception in 2025.

JONES TO NEW ENGLAND

The New England Patriots also struck early Monday, reportedly agreeing to a three-year, $39.5 million deal with linebacker Dre’Mont Jones.

Jones, 29, totaled seven sacks over 18 games with the Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Ravens last season.

Whatever happens with nations' energy choices, the war itself will spike emissions.

By SETH BORENSTEIN and JENNIFER McDERMOTT

World leaders have tried and failed to curb climate change by appealing to nations to act for the common good. Now, the Iran war and its costly energy crunch have some experts wondering if selfishness and nationalism may be a more likely way to save the planet, by boosting support for homegrown renewables over imported fossil fuels.

But others are dismissive, noting the same speculation emerged, and then quickly flopped, as recently as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. That prompted some European nations to replace gas with even dirtier coal.

“Just wishful thinking,” said Stanford University climate scientist Rob Jackson, who tracks global emissions of carbon dioxide.

The head of the United Nations will argue otherwise on Monday.

“The turmoil we are witnessing today in the Middle East makes it evident that we are facing a global energy system largely tied to fossil fuels — where supply is concentrated in a few regions and every conflict risks sending shock waves through the global economy,” U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres said in an email to The Associated Press. “In past oil shocks, countries had little choice but to absorb the pain. Now they have an exit ramp.

“Homegrown renewable energy has never been cheaper, more accessible, or more scalable,” Guterres said. “The resources of the clean energy era cannot be blockaded or weaponized.”

Going alone versus together

Annual U.N. climate conferences aimed at global cooperation have accomplished little. The most recent meeting in Brazil, known as COP30, ended with a statement that didn’t even mention the words “fossil fuels,” much less include a timeline to reduce their use. Guterres said then that he “cannot pretend that COP30 has delivered everything that is needed.” Under President Donald Trump, whose attack on Iran has sparked new energy concerns, the U.S. didn’t even participate in the Brazil meeting.

Even though renewable energy use and new installations are soaring globally, outpacing fossil fuel growth, the world continues to increase its fossil fuel use every year with emissions of heat-trapping carbon dioxide and methane rising to new highs year after. That’s driving atmospheric warming that increases costly and deadly extreme weather, including dangerous heat, around the world.

“The bottom line is that for at least another five years and maybe longer, emissions reduction will in fact be dealt with largely unilaterally,” said Michael Oppenheimer, a Princeton climate and international affairs professor. “If countries see the Israel-U.S.-Iran war as a further reason to head for the exits on fossil fuels by loosening domestic opposition to the necessary policies, that will be accomplished unilaterally at the domestic level.”

A moment of opportunity may be here

Caroline Baxter, director of the Converging Risks Lab at the Council on Strategic Risks in Washington, said there has already been a “dramatic slowdown” in the movement of fossil fuels to various ports due to the conflict. And for countries like Japan or South Korea that depend on tankers arriving in their ports to deliver energy, this is a really big deal, she said.

Baxter said she “wouldn’t be surprised” if some shift to green energy because of the conflict, if only because renewable energy offers more stability than fossil fuels do.

“I think there is an opportunity, rightly or wrongly, for countries to really turn inward and try to power themselves in a way that cuts off their dependence on other nations for that source,” said Baxter, who was U.S. deputy assistant secretary of defense for force education and training from 2021 to 2024 under the Biden administration.

Baxter said if she’s right and if “everyone does it in their backyard,” it will limit future climate change “without the thorny diplomatic negotiations and the glad-handing and the machinations behind closed doors” of international climate conferences.

The war will lead to more solar panels and heat pumps installed in coming months, said energy analyst Ana Maria Jaller-Makarewicz, of IEEFA Europe.

A reality check from Ukraine: ‘Exactly the wrong lesson’

More skeptical analysts point to the Russian invasion of Ukraine a few years ago, which put a massive kink in Europe’s natural gas supply, yet didn’t change the world’s fossil fuel dependence. Politicians often pivot to other fossil fuels to address war-oriented energy insecurity, such as coal, which releases even higher amounts of heat-trapping gases.

“We have seen this at the European level where actors post-2022 slowly wanted to move away from the energy transition which is exactly the wrong lesson,” said war studies lecturer Pauline Heinrichs at King’s College in the United Kingdom.

Just as Europe did then, many countries, like China and India — already the world’s No. 1 and No. 3 carbon-emitting countries — could turn to more coal use, said Ohio University’s Geoff Dabelko, an expert on climate and conflict, and University of St. Andrews’ Neta Crawford, author of “The Pentagon, Climate Change, and War: Charting the Rise and Fall of U.S. Military Emissions.”

War and militaries pollute the air

Whatever happens with nations’ energy choices, the war itself will spike emissions.

Even before it began, reports showed that the world’s militaries are responsible for 5.5% of Earth’s heat-trapping emissions each year, more than any country except China, the United States and India.

Crawford, co-founder of the Costs of War project at Brown University’s Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs, said fighter jets consuming vast quantities of fuel, releasing carbon dioxide and other pollutants, is just one example.

“The consequences of war on emissions will far exceed any incremental offset in emissions due to increased enthusiasm for a green transition,” she said.

The accolades continue to come in for St. John’s star Zuby Ejiofor.

The accolades continue to come in for St. John’s star Zuby Ejiofor.

Ejiofor was named the 2025-26 Big East Defensive Player of the Year after leading the Red Storm to the conference’s outright regular-season championship.

The senior forward/center averages 2.0 blocks per game, ranking fourth among Big East players, and 7.1 rebounds per game, ranking seventh.

During conference play, Ejiofor averaged 1.8 blocks and 7.0 rebounds per game.

The bruising Ejiofor recorded at least three blocks in nine games in the regular season, including back-to-back eight-block performances in wins over Ole Miss and Iona in December.

Last month, Ejiofor was one pegged as one of 15 contenders for the national Naismith Defensive Player of the Year trophy.

Ejiofor is the fifth St. John’s player to win Big East Defensive Player of the Year, following Mark Jackson, Sir’Dominic Pointer, Justin Simon and Posh Alexander.

The Big East’s individual awards are voted on by the conference’s coaches, whose selections are not made public.

But last week, Georgetown head coach Ed Cooley said he planned to vote for Ejiofor for Defensive Player of the Year after the 6-9 big man totaled two blocks, two steals and seven rebounds in a 72-69 win over the Hoyas at Madison Square Garden.

“His energy, his toughness — I just enjoy watching him,” Cooley said.

Ejiofor, who also averages 16.0 points and 3.5 assists per game, is the favorite to win Big East Player of the Year, an award scheduled to be announced Wednesday.

He was the coaches’ preseason pick to win Big East Player of the Year.

Ejiofor was this year’s only unanimous selection for the All-Big East first team — his second consecutive year earning first-team honors. He was unanimously selected for the conference’s All-Defensive Team, too.

“He’s had a great, great run,” St. John’s head coach Rick Pitino said last week. “Great two years. Just so beloved by the fans.”

No St. John’s players joined Ejiofor on the All-Big East first team, but forward Bryce Hopkins was named to the second team and forward Dillon Mitchell made the third team.

Mitchell was also selected to the All-Defensive Team.

On Monday, Villanova’s Devin Askew won Big East Sixth Man of the Year, while teammate Tyler Perkins was named the conference’s Most Improved Player — an honor Ejiofor won last year.

Creighton’s Josh Dix won the conference’s Sportsmanship Award.

In addition to Player of the Year, the Big East is set to unveil its winners of Coach of the Year, Freshman of the Year and Men’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete on Wednesday.

Those announcements will precede the start of the Big East Tournament at the Garden later that afternoon.

She was 65.

“This past Friday night our beloved Jennifer passed away,” her family confirmed in a Facebook post on her account, obtained by TMZ. “It was a long and arduous journey that ended with her surrounded by her family.”

Friend and fellow actress Erin Murphy said the cause was cancer.

“So sad to share that my friend Jennifer Runyon Corman has passed away after a brief battle with cancer,” the “Bewitched” alum wrote on social media late Sunday. “Some people you just know you’ll be friends with before you even meet. She was a special lady. I’ll miss you Jenn. My thoughts are with your family and beautiful children.”

In the opening scene of 1984’s “Ghostbusters” Runyon played a college student being given an ESP test by Bill Murray’s Dr. Peter Venkman, who used it to flirt shamelessly while administering electric shocks for “wrong” answers to the male student being tested alongside her.

She was also known as Gwendolyn Pierce on “Charles in Charge” the same year, appearing in 18 episodes as the longtime girlfriend of protagonist Charles, played by Scott Baio.

“I had the extreme pleasure of working with Jennifer Runyon on Charles in Charge,” Baio wrote in tribute on X. “She was a sweet, kind, and generous actress to work with.”

In real life “she was also a wonderful mother and wife,” Baio added. “I’m sending my deepest condolences, prayers, and sympathy to her family during this difficult time. God bless her and her family.”

Co-star Willie Aames mourned his “dear dear friend, muse, and encourager” in marking the lasting bond they had formed as “Charles in Charge” castmates.

“Watching you slip away these last few months was one of the hardest times of my life,” Aames wrote on social media. “I can still hear your voice so clearly. No one will ever be able to fill the massive hole that’s been left in our hearts… ever.”

In addition to her 18-episode “Charles in Charge” run, Runyon played Cindy Brady in “A Very Brady Christmas” in 1988 and was also known for roles on the soap opera “Another World,” the movie “Up the Creek,” and a slew of guest spots on everything from “Murder, She Wrote” to “Magnum, P.I.” Runyon also appeared in the two inaugural episodes of “Quantum Leap.”

As the U.S.-Israeli war raged with no end in sight, Trump said oil tankers should brave the threat posed by Iranian missiles and drones to stop a record-setting spike in oil and gasoline prices.

President Trump Monday urged oil tankers to “show some guts” and sail out of the Persian Gulf amid the danger posed by the Iran war that has practically shut down shipping through the strategic Straits of Hormuz.

As the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran raged with no end in sight, Trump said oil tankers should brave the threat posed by Iranian missiles and drones to help blunt a massive spike in oil and gasoline prices.

“These ships should go through the Strait of Hormuz and show some guts, there’s nothing to be afraid of,” Trump told Fox News, according to the network. “They have no Navy, we sunk all their ships.”

Trump told Fox that Iran has only about 150 missile launchers left, or about 20% of its original total, after waves of devastating attacks on Iran’s military and civilian infrastructure.

Trump also derided the newly elected Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei as a “lightweight” and predicted he would “not be around for long.”

The president’s saber-rattling remarks expanded on his assertion late Sunday that skyrocketing oil and gas prices would rapidly fall back down once the “Iranian nuclear threat is over,” although he didn’t say when that might be.

“Short term oil prices (are) a very small price to pay for USA & world, safety and peace,” Trump posted on his social media site. “Only fools would think differently.”

Trump’s “small price to pay” post could sound a sour note with American consumers who were already expressing wide dissatisfaction with Trump’s handling of the economy in his second term.

Gasoline prices have already shot up by about 20% nationwide since Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu unleashed the war on Iran.

With oil prices shooting up past $100 a barrel, analysts predict the pain at the pump will only get worse in coming weeks, a development that could hurt the political prospects of Trump and his Republican allies in the upcoming midterm elections.

About 20% of the world’s oil supply normally is transported through the Straits of Hormuz, a narrow waterway that connects the oil-rich Persian Gulf to the Indian Ocean and the outside world.

Iran says it hasn’t officially said it has closed the straits to shipping traffic. But the companies that transport oil have parked their tankers on either side of the waterway, fearing their huge cargos would be sitting ducks for drone or missile attacks from Tehran as the war escalates.

Insurance companies that cover the oil tankers have raised premiums to unaffordable levels if they try to run the maritime gantlet, effectively preventing the ships from rolling the dice.

Trump has promised to introduce a new insurance program to cope with the problem, but it’s unclear how effective that proposal might be or when it could be implemented.

The U.S. has also discussed the possibility of using American ships to escort tankers through the Straits of Hormuz but no plan has been implemented yet.

“When Cyprus is attacked, it is Europe that is attacked,” Macron said after talks with his Cypriot counterpart Nikos Christodoulides and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at Cyprus’ main air base near the southwestern town of Paphos. “We are bound to one another by strategic partnerships.”

The French president paid a visit to Cyprus to demonstrate his “full solidarity” with Cyprus, which sustained the first drone attack of the Iran war on European territory.

Macron had ordered the French frigate Languedoc to waters off Cyprus, a fellow European Union member, to bolster its anti-drone and anti-missiles defenses. The French president also sent last week ground-based anti-drone and anti-missile defenses to the island.

Greece already dispatched four F-16 fighter planes to the Paphos air base and its two state-of-the-art frigates Kimon and Psara are already patrolling offshore Cyprus, tasked with intercepting any missiles or drones.

Macron hails ‘unprecedented’ show of strength

In a show of strength, Macron said he would also deploy a total of eight warships, two helicopter carriers and the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle to the Eastern Mediterranean and the wider Middle East region, calling the move “unprecedented.” He is due to go aboard the De Gaulle, which is currently sailing “very near” Cyprus.

Macron pointed to a French-led initiative currently in the works that will involve European and non-European nations helping to escort oil and gas tankers with the aim of gradually reopening the Strait of Hormuz “as soon as possible after the most intense phase of the conflict is over.”

Christodoulides said the leaders’ presence in Cyprus underscores how the EU remains “united and determined” to ensure the security of its member states.

“Our countries have the common believe that the European Union must engage more actively, more strategically and more coherently with the wider region as part of a comprehensive approach,” Christodoulides said.

Mitsotakis echoed the Cypriot president, saying that “now is the time to make clear that every inch of European territory is inviolable” but stressed that any action is purely defensive in posture.

“Our sole and exclusive aim it to strengthen the defense of a European Union member state against any threat,” said Mitsotakis. “And we’re not going to accept any part of European territory, like Cyprus, to be exposed to the slightest danger.”

EU leaders seek to contain Middle East conflict

Macron has been deeply involved in diplomatic talks in recent days to try to avoid further escalation in the Middle East. On Sunday, he spoke to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and urged him to stop strikes.

Last week, Macron ordered the De Gaulle to move from the Baltic Sea to the Mediterranean to help protect allied assets, citing the drone strike on Cyprus. Cyprus and France signed a new strategic partnership in December.

Despite the military buildup, the three leaders have urged against any expansion of the conflict. Christodoulides has repeatedly underscored that Cyprus won’t take part in any military operation and remains focused on its regional humanitarian role that includes a maritime corridor sending aid to Gaza via the Israeli port of Ashdod.

The Shahed drone caused minor damage to a hangar at the RAF Akrotiri air base minutes after midnight on March 2. No one was injured. Another two drones were intercepted by British Typhoon and F-35 warplanes that were scrambled from the air base shortly after midday that day.

Cyprus officials confirmed last week that the Shahed originated from Lebanon and believe that it was launched by the Hezbollah militant group, Iran’s proxy in the country. Hezbollah’s arsenal notably includes exploding drones, similar to the ones used by Iran.

Lebanon’s Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji on Sunday condemned the drone attack.

“I called on our Cypriot friends not to confuse the Lebanese state with those acting outside its authority and legal framework,” said Rajji, a staunch opponent of Hezbollah.

The Lebanese government has ordered its security agencies to crack down on non-state groups carrying out attacks.

Macron said France is expending diplomatic capital to ensure a return to calm in the country and to allow for the Lebanese armed forces to assert themselves as Israel continues to pound Hezbollah positions.

“Our goal is simple, Hezbollah must cease all strikes from Lebanese territory, because it is putting all Lebanese people in danger,” Macron said, while urging Israel to cease its strikes in Lebanon.

BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — Hungary’s Russia-friendly leader is urging the European Union to lift all sanctions on Russian fossil fuels to remedy spikes in energy prices caused by the war in the Middle East.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, considered the Kremlin’s closest partner in the EU, said in a video posted to social media on Monday that he’d sent a letter to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen after “oil prices began to grow explosively.”

The Iran war, now in its second week, has ensnared places that are critical to the production and movement of oil and gas from the Persian Gulf, leading to price surges on global markets.

In the video, Orbán said that the 27-nation EU must “review and suspend all sanctions on Russian energy across Europe.” He added he had convened an emergency government meeting on Monday to assess how to prevent further spikes in gasoline and diesel prices in Hungary.

Orbán’s nationalist government has long opposed EU efforts to cut Russian energy imports, and along with neighboring Slovakia has maintained and even increased supplies of Russian oil and gas since Moscow launched all-out war on Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022.

Both countries have received a temporary exemption from an EU policy prohibiting imports of Russian oil, and have until recently taken Russian crude supplies through the Druzhba pipeline, which crosses Ukraine.

But oil deliveries through the Druzhba have been halted since Jan. 27, leading to an escalating feud between Hungary and Ukraine. The Ukrainian government says that a Russian drone strike damaged the pipeline’s infrastructure, but Orbán has accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of deliberately holding up the oil supplies.

In response, Orbán vetoed a new round of EU sanctions against Russia, and is blocking a major $106 billion EU loan for Ukraine until flows are resumed.

Orbán, lagging in most polls just a month before a critical election, has accused Zelenskyy of seeking to cause an energy crisis in Hungary, in order to influence the outcome of the vote — part of his government’s sweeping anti-Ukraine media campaign leading up to the April 12 ballot.

Further inflaming tensions, Hungary on Thursday temporarily detained seven Ukrainian state bank employees and seized two Ukrainian armored cars carrying tens of millions of euros in cash and gold across Hungary on suspicion of money laundering.

Ukraine has insisted the cash shipment was part of regular services between state banks, and strongly denied the money laundering allegations.

The Rastriya Swatantra, or National Independent Party, formed only four years ago, had already won 117 of 165 directly elected seats and led in eight other constituencies in the results published Sunday morning by Nepal’s Election Commission.

Other political parties and independent candidates had won 36 seats in total so far. Officials were still counting the votes Sunday and final results were expected later in the week.

The party’s prime ministerial candidate is rapper-turned-politician Balendra Shah, who won the 2022 Kathmandu mayoral race. He emerged as a leading figure in the 2025 uprising that ousted former Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Oli.

In Nepal, voters directly elect 165 members to the House of Representatives, the lower chamber of Parliament. The remaining 110 seats in the 275-member body are allocated through a proportional representation system, under which political parties are assigned seats based on their share of the vote. On Sunday, RSP also led that, with about 51% of the 110 seats.

The relatively new RSP has unseated the two long-dominant parties: the Nepali Congress and the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist), who have taken turns ruling the country.

Local papers called the sweeping win a historic moment. “RSP set for a landslide victory,” said the popular Himalayan Times. “People’s ballot revolt; shift in political paradigm,” said Annapurna Post.

RSP supporters have been celebrating the win in several constituencies, offering the winners flower garlands, bouquets, scarves and smearing them with red vermilion powder.

“The future prime minister (Shah) has clearly spoken that there will be no compromise when it comes to developing the country,” said RSP party member and volunteer Khagendra Chapagain, who was at the party headquarters in Kathmandu. “Our first agenda is to develop nation, and focus will be to work for health, education and the fight against corruption.”

The party officials, however, have asked their candidates and supporters to refrain from victory rallies or any other public celebrations out of respect for the dozens of lives lost during last year’s youth-led protests.

In Nepal, voters get two ballot papers, one to choose a candidate of their choice who is usually a political party nominee and the other to choose a party they prefer.

RSP clearly has more than half the directly elected seats and the results of the second ballot also show the party has more than 50% of the votes in its favor. They require the support of half the total number of members in the lower chamber of Parliament to form a government.

Analysts say the party would have comfortable numbers in the parliament to form a single-party government but faces challenges running the government.

“The problem or challenge with this new party would be to deliver things, given the limited resources and the limited institutional support. Because people have high expectations, that doesn’t necessarily mean that the new party can fulfill it,” said Keshab Prasad Poudel, an independent analyst.

Last year’s protests against corruption and poor governance were triggered by a social media ban before snowballing into a popular revolt against the government. Dozens were killed and hundreds wounded when protesters attacked government buildings and police opened fire on them.

After his arrest, Emir Balat told investigators they wanted to launch an attack bigger than the Boston Marathon bombing, according to the feds.

The Gracie Mansion counterprotestors accused of throwing IEDs were inspired by ISIS and wanted to cause more carnage than the Boston Marathon bombing, federal prosecutors said Monday.

Ibraham Kayumi, 19, and Emir Balat, 18, were radicalized and bent on destruction, with two of the three devices linked to them containing the hallmark explosive seen in bombings around the world, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said at a Monday press conference at Gracie Mansion.

After his arrest, Balat told investigators they wanted to launch an attack bigger than the Boston Marathon bombing, which he noted caused only “three deaths,” according to a federal indictment.

After being walked in handcuffs out of the 26th Precinct, the teens were hit with a slew of charges including use of a weapon of mass destruction and attempted provision of material support and resources to a designated foreign terrorist organization.

“I can confirm this morning that this is being investigated as an act of ISIS-inspired terrorism,” Tisch said.

According to federal prosecutors, Balat wrote on a piece of paper after his arrest a misspelled message that he “pledge allegience to the Islamic State.” Kayumi meanwhile allegedly told investigators he was affiliated with ISIS and watched the terror group’s propaganda on his phone.

As Kayumi was being placed inside an NYPD vehicle at the protest scene, a bystander yelled asking him why he did it. “ISIS,” Kayumi responded, according to the feds. The exchange was caught on an NYPD cop’s body-worn camera, according to court papers.

The suspects were busted Saturday after allegedly hurling two inprovised explosive devices during a contentious clash between right-wing agitator Jake Lang, who hates Muslims, and his supporters, and pro-Muslim counterprotestors.

The homemade explosives were packed with nails, bolts and triacetone triperoxide, or TATP. That substance, known informally as “Mother of Satan,” is easy to make and and been a hallmark of various suicide bomb attacks.

Tish noted that the last time an IED was used in the city was in 2017, when Akayed Ullah detonated a botched pipe bomb in a subway tunnel underneath the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Ullah is now serving life in prison.

“We were fortuanate that the devices used this weekend did not cause the kind of harm that they were certainly capable of causing,” Tisch said.

“But luck is never a strategy. Devices like this have the potential to cause devastating harm, which is why the NYPD does counterterrorism investigations and treats every incident of its kind with the highest level of urgency — and it is why we remain vigiliant.”

Mayor Mamdani, who was at a museum in Brooklyn with his wife when the incident happened, said that while the city will not tolerate violence he will never waver in his support of any group, no matter the rhetoric, to protest.

“This was a vile protest rooted in white supremacy entitled ‘Stop the Muslim Takeover of New York City,'” Mamdani said. “I’m the first Muslim mayor of New York City. Anti-Muslim bigotry is nothing new to me nor is it anything new for the one million or so Muslim New Yorkers who know this city as our home.”
