PDF Converter Elite doesn’t have the default crop feature but there are workaround ways to do the cropping with it. If you are a PDF Converter Elite user you would be delighted to know how to crop a PDF with our software. It is not hard to do it and you were actually using that secret feature all the time not realizing you can also use it to crop a PDF. Depending on what exactly you need to crop, a paragraph or the whole page, or the margins of a document, here we will share with you different ways to crop a PDF with PCE.

Select Area Feature as an alternative cropping tool

To crop smaller part of PDF content that is placed on one PDF page

When you are converting PDF files with PDF Converter Elite, you cannot skip the part when you need to select the document. Upon opening a PDF and choosing the type of PDF conversion, you need to select: the whole file, certain pages or area.

Select area option can actually be used to crop the PDF the way you need. If you want to remove some parts of a PDF document and those parts are not the whole page, but certain paragraphs, you can select an area of the document you want to keep or omit.

For instance, if you want to extract only a certain part of the PDF that is placed on one page, but it is not the whole, page, you can select the area, convert it to Word, and then back to PDF. In that way you will have a new cropped PDF.

On the other hand, if you want to keep a bigger part of the document but still need to crop some PDF pages, read the section above about Delete Text option.

Delete Text as another way to crop a PDF

Crop PDF file by deleting certain sentences throughout the document

As you probably know, PDF Converter Elite is a PDF editor too with the ability to edit PDF without conversion. Once you open a PDF file, click on the Edit menu and the sidebar will show up with a lot of different editing options. One such option is Delete Text which can come in handy when you want to crop PDF file.

If you need to get rid of some unwanted content in your PDF document, you can use this option to delete certain sentences or even whole paragraphs. Just click on the Delete button and then click on the area in the document which you want to remove. However, if you want to keep that content but not in the same file, it is better to extract pages from a PDF and save them in a separate document.

Resize Pages – Change the size of our PDF page

Remove the blank space in PDF document with Resize PDF feature

In the same Edit mode we mentioned above, you can use the Resize Pages button to crop a PDF file.

Select the page by clicking on it or typing the same page number in the fields First Page and Last Page.

Anchor settings refers to what is the most important part of your document from where you will measure the size. By default it is set up to be in the middle.

As for the sizes, you can either choose one from the Size drop-down menu by selecting the document type. You can also select the custom option and type width and height values. Once you click on the Resize button the page will look different, it will be cropped if you choose the smaller size of the default document size. However, you need to have in mind that if you choose the wrong height or width values it may not be cropped the way you wanted. That’s why it would be easier to choose one of the sizes from the drop-down menu.

Conclusion

As you can see, PDF Converter Elite offers different ways to crop a PDF file, depending on your needs. While we are waiting for the real crop PDF feature to show up in one of the future versions of PCE, these three features will still do the trick.

Since paper documents are widely replaced by digital documents, it is no wonder that business users turn over to digital signatures instead of traditional ones. Given that most types of business documents that require a signature are actually done in Word, here we will show you how to sign a Word document. Of course, when you finish your document you can always convert Word to PDF and even secure a document with a password.

There are different ways to sign a Word document:

Create a signature line, print a document and sign it with a pen

Digitally sign a Word document

Insert handwritten signature into your Word document

Add a signature plus company info

Insert a digital signature in Word

This guide is available for Office 365, 2010 and all newer versions.

In the Insert menu, find Text tab.

Click on the drop-down menu next to Signature Line.

Then click on the option Microsoft Office Signature Line.

In the field Suggested Signer type your full name.

Fill in other details that you want to include such as your email address and title.

Check the box that will allow you to add comments in the Sign dialog.

If you don’t want the date to appear in the signature, uncheck the box that is checked by default (Show sign date in signature line).

Confirm the signature settings by clicking OK.

Insert a handwritten signature

It is not possible to digitally sign a Word document with a handwritten signature. But, if you still want to have a handwritten signature in your Word document, there is a way to make this possible.

First of all, you need a picture of your handwritten signature. So you can either use a scanner or a phone camera to take a photo of your handwritten signature. Next, you just need to insert that photo into your Word document.

Select the place in the document where you want to add a signature.

In the Insert menu, click on the Pictures.

Locate the photo of your signature and click on the Insert button.

Once you insert the image, you will see the Crop button available in the top right corner of the Word toolbar. If you don’t see it, click on Picture Tools (somewhere it’s called Picture Format).

Crop the image by dragging its edges from one side to another and making the photo smaller.

If you find cropping images in Word difficult, you can crop the image in Paint or any other image editor and then insert it into Word.

You can use Enter and Space keys on the keyboard to move the photo and change its position.

Include company info with your signature

In addition to your handwritten signature that you have just added to your Word document, you can add some company info and give your signature even a more professional look.

So after you follow the steps above to insert a handwritten signature, continue by following the steps below:

Under the inserted handwritten signature, type the information you want to include in it (like company info, address, number).

Select the image of your signature and that additional information by holding the left mouse button and dragging it from one side to another.

Click on the Insert menu and find the Quick Parts button in the Text tab.

From the Quick Parts options click on Save Selection to Quick Part Gallery.

5. In the Name field, type the name of your signature block, so next time you need you will search it by that name.

6. From the Gallery drop-down list, select AutoText.

7. Click OK to confirm the changes.

8. To add this type of signature in Word, go to Quick Parts > AutoText and choose the name of your signature block.

How to add a signature line in Word

If you prefer old-fashioned way of signing documents with a pen, you can just insert a signature line in Word. Once you print the document you will be able to write a signature on the line.

Click on the exact area in the document where you want to add a signature line.

Go to the Insert menu and click on Signature Line.

When the pop up dialog opens, don’t type in the fields if you want to have an empty signature line. Just click OK and the signature line will appear.

Another even easier way to add signature line is to enter the underscore line ______ (also called underline) multiple times, to make it long enough to write your signature on a printed document.

PDF format is often used to store important business documents, ebooks, case studies. If you need to study the content you saved in PDF, or you want to present it to someone else, highlighting important parts of a document can help. Before we show you how to highlight in PDF, let’s see why would you do it in the first place.

Highlighting content in a document

One of the reasons to highlight in PDF document is to study that way, or to emphasize the facts to your audience. When you study a subject, it’s easier to underline or highlight something so you can always get back to it when doing revision. Also, when you are presenting something, your audience would appreciate to see data presented in different colors and font sizes.

How to highlight in PDF with PDF Converter Elite

Start the program and open the PDF file from the Open menu. Then access PDF editing options by clicking on the Edit menu. In the right side of the program a new set of options will show up.

Click on the Add button in the Text area to add new text that will be in different color. Change the color first, before clicking on the Add button. The text you type will be highlighted in other color. You can even change the font size and style, so it stands out even more.

Unfortunately, there is no option to change the color of the existing text, but you can do this:

Copy the text you want to highlight.

Paste it into the box where you will add the text in different color.

Click on the Delete option and then on the text in PDF that is the default color, probably black.

To save the changes, click on the cancel X button and you will be asked to save a new version of PDF file.

If you want to change the position of the highlighted text, you can simply drag the box to the desired destination in a document.

How to highlight in PDF without PDF Converter Elite

If you don’t own PDF Converter Elite, you can still use a free trial for 7 days. But that is not a permanent solution. If you wonder how to highlight in PDF without owning a PDF editor such as PDF Converter Elite, here’s how you can do it:

Convert PDF to Word, Excel or PowerPoint, depending on the type of content you work with. Choose one of the preferred PDF converter tools that you can use free without limitations.

Open the converted file and with the left mouse click select the part of the content you want to highlight. You can either choose different color background or font color, or highlight the text by underlining it.

Highlighting text in Word and Excel is easy and here’s how to highlight in PowerPoint.

The last step would be to convert the document to PDF again either by using our PDF creation tool or by saving it as PDF directly from MS Office application.

Whether you are using our free PDF converter tools or PDF Converter Elite, you can add pages to a PDF and have all data in one place. Sometimes you need to add additional content to your PDF document. There is no need to convert PDF to Word or other editable format and to add content there. The easier way is to add pages directly to a PDF. It is called merging PDF files. Let’s see how to merge PDF files and what is the difference between our free PDF merge tool and merge option in PDF Converter Elite.

Add pages to a last page of PDF

If you need to add a PDF that contains one or multiple pages, into another PDF you can use this online PDF Merge tool. Simply upload the main PDF file and the other PDF file from which you want to add pages. No matter if it is a one page PDF or a PDF with more pages, they will be merged to the first file.

How to add pages to a PDF in different places of a document

PDF Converter Elite 5 has more opportunities when it comes to adding pages to a PDF. The only condition is that the pages (or a page) you want to add are in PDF. If they are not in PDF you can easily save them as PDF.

Ok, now when you have PDF pages you just need to start PDF Converter Elite, and follow the steps:

Open the first PDF file, the one you want to use and where you want to add additional pages. To do that just click on the Open button and then locate the PDF file.

When the file is opened in PDF Converter Elite, click on the Edit button, then on Merge PDF Files.

Then add another PDF file from your computer and type the page numbers from that file, that you want to add. If you want to add only one page, type the same page number in both fields. Choose the exact location where you will add the pages. You can add the pages before any given page in the PDF file, at the beginning, or at the end of the document.

How to add a page to a PDF

There are two ways to add only one page of a document to your PDF file. For instance, If you want to add a Word document that has one page, to a PDF file, here’s what you can do:

Convert that Word to PDF and then merge it with the main PDF.

Convert the main PDF to Word, add the page in Word you wanted to add and then convert the new version of the Word document to PDF.

Note: working in Word gives more flexibility, especially if you don’t own PDF Converter Elite 5 and rely only on free tools. If you do own this program you can add or delete text and move pages within the PDF file without the need to convert the file to Word.

PDF files can be very large, like thousands of pages. Ebooks, study materials, accounting reports, white papers, case studies and other important documents. Although it can be easy working with PDF files if you have the right tools such as PDF Converter Elite, it is always easier to handle PDFs of smaller page numbers. If you for some reason need to print or work with a single page of a PDF, here’s an easy guide on how to save one page of a PDF.

Before we start, let’s see the situations where you will need one page of a PDF:

You want to save the environment and you are printing only one page of a document

Someone asked you to send him information from the PDF file, but you don’t want to disclose the whole file

You have content for 1,5 page but you want to fit it into one page

When you want to revise only the summary, the bullet points of your research or presentation

Save one page of a PDF with PDF Converter Elite

Start PDF Converter Elite on your Windows computer and then open the PDF file in it.

To open a PDF file in PDF Converter Elite, just click on the Open button, and select the PDF file from your computer.

The next step would be to click on the Edit menu, and then on Split PDF File.

In the fields First Page and Last Page, enter the same number. That is the number of the page you want to save separately.

Press the OK button to save the page onto your computer. In the field File name you can check the name of the file and click the Save button.
Also, before clicking on the Save button, make sure you are familiar with the location of the file.

Saving one page of PDF with online PDF converter tools

If you don’t own PDF Converter Elite, you can rely on our free PDF converter tools to save one page of a PDF.

It is very simply to do it, just follow these steps:

Upload or drag and drop PDF file in any of these tools that convert from PDF to other format. *

*To what format do you want to convert the PDF file depends on the content of the file. If the page you want to save from the PDF file is an image, you can convert PDF to Image and save the image you need. In this example we will convert PDF to Word.

     2. Download the converted file and open it in Word or Open Office.

     3. Delete the pages you don’t need and just leave the page you want to save.

If you are not sure how to do it, there is a guide on how to delete a page in Word.

Users of PDF Converter Elite can work with even big PDF documents, thanks to different PDF management features. If you are working with big data and you want to reorganize it, no need to convert the whole PDF document and copy paste the data from one place to another. There is much easier way to rearrange PDF pages without converting the file.

Before we share with you a step-by-step guide to rearrange pages within a PDF document, let’s see when would you need this feature.

Managing bigger PDF files

PDF files that have a lot of pages are harder to handle because the conversion process takes more time than usual. Not to mention that with more and more pages in one PDF document, you may get lost easily, especially if you want to convert some PDF pages to Word and other to Excel.

Rearrange PDF pages so you put together all the pages you want to convert. PDF Converter Elite has an option to convert a certain page range. If the pages you want to convert are not in the same range, you can arrange them first.

Rearranging pages can be helpful when you want to divide your document in multiple meaningful fractions.

If you want to print some parts of your big PDF file, you can rearrange pages so all the pages you want to print are presented in a row. Printing will be much easier and you will save some paper.

Data analysis can also be done easier if you first rearrange the pages in a document and categorize them in meaningful parts

How to rearrange PDF pages

Start by opening a PDF document in PDF Converter Elite. Then click on the Edit button. On the ride side of the screen you will a new sidebar, as shown on the image below.

In the Pages section, click on Move Pages button.

In the First Page and Last Page fields, select the page numbers you want to rearrange. Have in mind that if your first page is page number 2 and the last page is number 5, all the pages between those numbers will be rearranged.

If you want to rearrange several pages that are not in a consecutive order, you need to do it manually for all pages. So if you want to remove pages 2, 4 and 5, first enter number 2 in both fields (First and Last Page), choose where you will rearrange pages and click on the Move. Then click again on the Move Pages button and choose page number 4 as the first page and 5 as the last page.

Apart from deciding the page numbers you want to move, you need to set up where you will move those pages. In the field Put Before Page, you can choose the page number or the end or beginning of document.

When you finally choose the first and the last page and where you will move them, click on the Move button. Repeat as many times as you need, in case the pages aren’t in the consecutive order.

Alternative way to rearrange PDF pages

If the first method of rearranging pages is complicated for you, here’s another way. Under condition you have saved a copy of the original PDF document, you can use the second version of the document.

When you open the PDF and click on the Edit button, click on the Delete Pages button instead of Move Pages.

Similar to the previous method, you need to enter the First Page and the Last Page. Click the Delete button and the pages will be rearranged in a way that the selected pages will be removed and the other will be joined.

We all know how PDF files can be tricky and that is probably the reason you use PDF tools. Thanks to PDF conversion technology you can quickly solve PDF hassles by converting PDF to other formats. MS Office document formats are easier to edit when it comes to textual and tabular data. But the problem can arise when you cannot convert a PDF file, when the program crashes or simply the result is not satisfying.

Inspired by the real problems of our users, we compiled a list of common problems with PDF files and how you can solve them. Have in mind, these solutions are only for PDF Converter Elite users and we cannot guarantee that these hacks will work with other PDF utilities you find online.

The converted file has black marks, like it was redacted

This problem usually happens when you are converting PDF files to Image formats or PowerPoint. Even though it happens with other conversion types, you can do this to solve the problem:

Open your PDF file in any PDF viewer and click on the Print icon. If the Print option is not visible immediately, go to the File menu and then Print.

From the list of printers, choose PDF Converter Elite printer.

Click on the Print button and PDF Converter Elite print dispatcher will appear.

If you want to keep both versions of PDF file, original and reprinted, you can rename the reprinted file before saving it. In the field, “Save PDF as“ rename the file.

In the field “When the PDF file is created” choose to open in PDF Converter Elite and click OK.

Now, select the conversion type. For instance, if you want to convert a file to PPT, choose that icon and the sidebar will appear on the right.

Click to select the whole file, a specific area or the certain pages. Learn more about selecting content here.

Click on the Convert button and once the file is converted you will see that black marks disappeared.

Batch conversion fails, what to do?

Converting multiple PDF files at once is a time-saver. You simply add PDF files, choose the output file type and conversion starts. Unfortunately, if one of these PDFs is damaged and not able to convert, the whole process will fail.

In that case, take a look at your files and try to convert one by one file. Some files will convert successfully and that one or more files that were damaged they will fail to convert.

However, when you find damaged file you can always apply the technique above, for reprinting files or some of the techniques below. Who knows, maybe your file can be fixed and you can continue with batch conversion.

Problems with scanned PDFs

Our PDF Converter Elite has a high quality OCR engine that can convert most of the scanned PDF files. But not all scanned files are created equally. First of all, if you are dealing with scanned files, check out did you turn on the OCR option, in the Edit menu of the program.

Go to OCR options in the Edit menu and click on Convert using OCR, every time before opening and converting a scanned file.

If the file fails to convert, this may be the reason- the space between the characters in the document is too tight and the OCR cannot recognize each character. Here’s what you can to solve this issue:

Click on the Convert menu and then on Conversion options.

At the same time, press CTRL and A on your keyboard to open the advanced settings.

Scroll down and find the “OCRInputSPI”. The default value will be 300, you need to edit it and write 400. Click on OK to confirm and again on OK, to close the conversion dialog.

Now, when you open your scanned document, the result should be satisfying. This option will reset to default every time you close the program.

The converted file has strange characters

Sometimes, it may happen that you open a PDF in PDF Converter Elite and it looks the same as you see it in other PDF readers. You select the conversion type and there is the problem! The output is a mess, full of strange characters that couldn’t be seen in the original PDF.

If that happens to you next time you are converting PDF files, no need to worry. That means your file doesn’t have unicode characters and that you need to turn on the OCR option to convert a file.

As we explained above, before opening such file, access the OCR options from the Edit menu and click on Convert using OCR. Now open your PDF file and try to convert it again. You may be surprised with the results.

Hopefully, one of these solutions will help you next time when you are struggling with PDF files. If you need more information on how to use PDF Converter Elite, check out our free user guide.

PowerPoint presentations are often saved as PDF because PDF file format can be easily transferred to different devices without altering the document layout. In addition to converting PPT slides to PDF, sometimes you need to turn your PowerPoint file to Word. Word documents are a better solution when you have long textual content. You can insert in Word document anything you need- a picture, a PDF file, and other objects, including PowerPoint slides. So, if you need to include a PowerPoint presentation in your work, here’s how to copy PowerPoint slides into Word.

Copy the whole PPT slide or certain objects of the slide

The easiest way to copy PowerPoint slides into Word is to save the slide as an image (PNG, JPG file) and insert image into Word.

To save a slide as an image, just click on the preferred slide and go to the File menu and then Save as. Choose the location where you want to save your PowerPoint slide, in the File name field check the name. In the Save as type field find the image format (JPEG, PNG).

When you click the Save button, click on Just This Once and the slide you have previously selected will be saved to JPEG or PNG.

If you don’t want the whole slide to copy to Word, you can copy only certain parts of it. Click on the object with the left mouse button and then with the right click activate additional options.

Save as Picture is the option you need to click copy a certain part of PowerPoint slide to Word.

Lastly, insert an image of the slide into Word: Insert > Pictures.

Copy and Paste PowerPoint Slide into Word

You are probably familiar with this copy and paste option: CTRL+C and then CTRL+V

The same way you copy text you can do with slides. Right click on the slide and choose Copy option or simple select the slide and press these keys.

Open a Word document, click on the area where you want to insert a slide and paste it.

Insert PowerPoint into Word

If you want to include the whole PowerPoint presentation in a Word document, click the Insert menu, then Object and go to Create from file tab.

Click on the Browse button to find the PowerPoint presentation you want to insert into Word.

There are two options, to link to the file or to display your presentation as an icon.

In the image above, you can see what are the page layout options when you send PowerPoint slide to Word. Here is what every option means:

Notes next to slides: the slide is minimized and shown on the left whereas the additional notes of the slide are on the right. With this option you will get a small version of the slide but the notes will be easy to read. This option is good when you need to print a document and deliver a presentation.

Blank lines next to slides: if you are presenting something and your audience has the copy of your presentation, this is the best option to use. In this way, they will have a minimized version of the slide on one side and the lines for taking notes and leaving comments, on the other.

Notes below slides: this is like the first option, but the notes are under the slides.

Blank lines below slides: similar to the second option, empty lines are for leaving comments or notes, and there are placed under the slides.

Outline only: this option is good when you want to edit a presentation. It doesn’t show graphics, only text.
