Little more than a month into his term, Obama illustrates this awareness in his first budget. Plain Dealer Washington Bureau Chief Stephen Koff says the budget contains an unprecedented sum for Great Lakes cleanup -- and that bodes well for this region and the entire state.

]]>Presidential campaign fund-raising in Ohio was on the agenda for Democratic candidate Barack Obama and GOP candidate Rudy Giuliani.
While in Columbus on Friday, Obama won the endorsement of Mayor Michael Coleman, who told supporters at a rally that Obama "has the optimism and the ability to get things done. "
Earlier in the week, Guiliani met with businessmen at Cleveland's Union Club. For $2,300, they could be photographed with the former New York City mayor. A mere $500 donation was required just to attend the event, with those under 35 paying half-price.
