In a historic first for his colony, not a single beaver died due to his mismanagement. instead he has happy, dancing, zip-lining beavers enjoying statues, mudpools, and debate chambers.

We also look at real-life beavers in the UK, and good news, they are being reintroduced this year almost perfectly timed with Timberborn's 1.0 release.

Keeping to a space theme, Ram then talk about the game Tin Can, a small survival game where you maintain a broken escape pod's systems until you get rescued, Although only briefly played, Ram is looking to try it in VR mode.

Finally we move onto the our latest Games Day game R.E.P.O, a co-op roguelike survival horror game we are apparently debt collectors retrieving random valuables from hazardous locations and avoiding monsters, some of which have interesting mechanics, plus we find out who is the "king of the losers"

Hes talks about the mechanics — buying ships, methodically dismantling them with hammers, circular saws and blowtorches, sorting scrap at the recycling yard, and upgrading your tools. He compares it to Hardspace: Shipbreaker which he played last year, and give his thoughts on which one is better out of the two

After failing to find his old Warcraft games on Battle.net, he ended up down a rabbit hole of disappointing WoW private servers before rediscovered his love of Final Fantasy XI by playing on the Horizon XI private server. We then discuss FFXI's unique mechanics such as job changing instead of starting new characters, the brutal level-down-on-death system and the way the game encouraged forced group play.

Still recovering from the 24-hour live stream, Skazz and Ram review the games they played that night (day?), including some new and some old, and give their thoughts on them.

First up is Back 4 Blood, the spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead sharing some of the same developers. A fun zombie game, but with some bizarre multiplayer lobby system choices and issues with public players and bots once again carrying the team.

Next up was Full Metal Furies, a game we've played in a previous 24-hour stream, this time as a threesome. A very funny game with great art style and action combat, sadly it was during this game we had our first man down as Zaber had to bow out with suspected food poisoning.

After Zaber's departure, we gave a little indie game called Content Warning a go. We got to experience the fantasy life of successful content creators by delving into the depths of an underworld to film strange creatures. Skazz had issues with multiple Rams and creatures spawning where they weren't supposed to be, along with captcha iron maidens.

We then returned to an old favourite with Green Hell, trying out the multiplayer story mode for the first time. We went hunting for very specific plants, honoured Gavin's spear, and Skazz got up close and personal with lots of snakes.

Back to another classic 24-hour games night game with Golf It. Unfortunately, it was Ram's turn to turn green and head for the bathroom, as the many hours sat in front of a screen and eye strain caught up with him.

Moving on to gaming, Ram has been driving around in a beat-up vehicle trying to navigates and collect resources in a mysterious zone in Pacific Drive. He talks about the zone's dangers, from strange creatures to bizarre storms, praising the game's extensive difficulty options and the compelling stories it generates, though he wishes he had access to a bed for rest.

Skazz has been revisiting a cooperative cover shooter from the late 2000s during genre heyday: Kane and Lynch: Dead Men. While the game received unfavourable reviews upon release, Skazz takes a fresh look to reassess the storyline, gunplay, and single-player AI companion to determine whether those critical views were justified.

We kick things off with Skazz admitting he's rethinking his playing the Elder Scrolls series. Despite claiming he doesn't like the games, he owns Skyrim on multiple systems...

Ram then shares how he’s gotten into Korean food after binge-watching a variety of Korean TV shows. He gives a quick rundown of how these shows work and highlights some of his favorites. Skazz was initially concerned but felt reassured when he learned that Ram watches the subtitled versions instead of the dubbed ones.

Next, we dive into a discussion about modern media. We reminisce about missing the days of 22-episode TV seasons, where there weren’t years-long gaps between season. We also discuss if modern shows are chasing the wrong quality and are we seeing a lack of innovation? We also touch on the infamous curse of disappointing TV show finales.

On the gaming front, Skazz talks about playing the recently released English version of Ys 10: Nordics. In preparation, he’s been revisiting the first nine games in the series. He mentions having previously played part of the Japanese version of Ys 10, but his lack of Japanese language skills made it a challenge. He also discusses some of the game’s new mechanics, including a co-op feature.

Finally, in a twist that will surprise regulars, Ram has been playing an indie horror game called Amanda the Adventurer. The game involves exploring an old attic and watching VHS tapes of Amanda and her companion Wooly as things take a progressively weirder—and darker—turn.

We start by teasing what we’ve been playing for our Christmas Games Night special—stay tuned, as all will be revealed later in the year!

Next, we recap our recent 24-hour gaming live-stream, packed with a mix of some of our beloved classics and some new experiences:

First up was For The King, which dominated much of our game time. Previously, Ram and Zaber, and Skazz and Zaber, had tackled this strategy RPG in pairs. This time, the trio united to confront the big bad and bring order to a chaotic land.

We then transitioned into global warfare with the world-ending strategy game DEFCON. Ram had a slight edge, having played the tutorial years ago, while Skazz struggled without a mouse and Zaber forgot to deploy any units—tactical brilliance all around!

To lighten the mood, we switched to Golf It!, navigating custom maps while narrowly avoiding copyright strikes. This led to a lively discussion about realistic sporting games.

Next, we dove into one of the original looter-shooters, Borderlands. A game close to Ram’s heart, it showcased early mechanics we’re glad were refined in later installments.

After Zaber signed off, a sleep-deprived Ram powered through Monster Hunter: World, with guidance (and occasional jealousy) from Skazz, who envied Ram's starter gear.

From there, we took to the skies in Microsoft Flight Simulator. Ram demonstrated his Airbus “skills” with SimBrief, a flight-planning tool based on real-world software. Despite some debate, his landing in Denmark to “pick up” Zaber was deemed a “success.”

We briefly jumped into Dead Island, where Skazz faced control issues, and Ram fought against an unexpected natural light challenge.

Zaber rejoined us for the grand finale: Liar’s Bar. anthropomorphic animals play liar’s dice or cards, risking it all in a deadly Russian roulette of poison. And with that, we wrapped up another epic 24-hour stream.

Finally, we reflected on Skazz’s cobbled-together setup and the technical headaches it caused, Ram’s overindulgence in sweets and chicken nuggets, and Skazz’s fixation on audio perfection.

In this episode, Skazz takes the lead as we dive into our latest Games Night experience with MudRunner. We explore the challenges of navigating through the muddy landscapes of Eastern Europe using worn-out Soviet era trucks, discussing the fun (and frustration) of getting stuck and relying on winches—either yours or your friends—to pull you free. We also touch on the game's bad points, including its clunky interface and issues with player synchronisation, while also comparing it to Euro Truck Simulator and how the two stack up as driving games.

Continuing his horror game streak, Ram delves into The Callisto Protocol, a much-hyped, visually good looking title that unfortunately serves as a textbook case of how not to design a horror game. With a cliché storyline, poor level design, and a dull combat system, it manages to sap the fun out of the experience. The game even makes you accept an agreement to not to cheat in a single-player game. Ram completely ignores this and turns to a cheat engine just to make it bearable.

We also chat about the Big Ass Fans company with its seductive donkey logo, Ram's misadventures with speeding tickets and other run-ins with the law, and Skazz's ongoing motorbike mishaps.

Welcome to episode 252

We start by addressing Skazz’s issues with operating systems and Ram’s annoyances with the YouTube TV app, before diving into the main topic of games.

Ram shares another brief update on Empyrion Galactic Survival, where he’s finally made it into space, albeit with a few setbacks—mainly forgetting the laws of physics. He also delves into the game's creative mode and talks about some of his ambitious projects. Next, he talks about Maid of Sker, a game from one of his favourite genres: stealth survival horror. This leads us to discuss the elements of good and bad horror game design, as well as what makes environments feel immersive. We briefly touch on game difficulty levels and the ideal length of games.

This epic Voxel based game has you surviving on alien worlds, gathering resources, crafting, and finally building spaceships to fly to other worlds and do it all again.

For some reason we start this episode discussing world records, getting into the Guiness book of records, and various tv programs based around it.

Not having access to his PC at the moment, Skazz has returned to Console gaming with the PS5 and trying out in-home game streaming with the Playstation Portal. He talks about his experience with using remote play and the issues using it over Wifi, this leads into a discussion as to why Google Stadia got a bad reputation. We also talk about Sony's bizarre design decisions and anti-consumer practices.

Skazz has been hitting mobile gaming on his iPhone with an varitory of emulators that are now available, joined up with the Backbone, a device that attached to your phone and give you controller interface. It does have an and app and subscription services with some bullshit features tied behind it

Ram has been playing early 2000s first person shooter Command and Conquer Renegade, an attempt to take the red alert universe down to ground level. It also had a pretty unique multiplayer mode based around trying to destroy your opponents base.

Ram also revist’s The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, and how he got over the bug that was stopping his progress before he ended up dropped the game anyway

Skazz kicks us off briefly discussing the emulators that are now available on apple allowing mobile gaming, as well as trying in-home streaming of the playstation 5. He decided to try an old PS4 launch title with Killzone: Shadow Fall. Discussing the changes to the gameplay, adding a less then successful stealth feature to the game. As well as annoying tutorials, psychic enemies and eternal combat music. We also talk about stealth implementation in games and why it does and does not work

Ram also been playing a game from the early 2010s with XCom the Bureau Declassified. A time where every main player character was an arsehole. The setting is interesting and the story has some potential, but is let down with dodgy combat, annoying crashes and badly placed checkpoint.

We start off discussing Ram re-wiring techniques after Skazz's wife has an accident with a hedge trimmer. Ram also talks about his visit to the Pig and Poultry fair to see all the pig related sex equipment and tractors.

Moving swiftly on, Skazz has been playing Hi-Fi Rush, developed by recently killed off studio Tango Gameworks, a third person platformer with a rhythm style combat mechanic. Skazz talks about how it avoided it at the time.   

Following on from the above, we discuss the random cull Microsoft have done of some their studios and the state the gamer industry is in, how its got here and what the future will hold, we also discuss why the time is to move away from chasing graphics and into other parts of development.

Ram has been fighting a alien invasion in 2016 XCOM 2, a management sim with a turn based combat were you have to manage a flying base and perform mission with soldiers who do not tend to have long life spans. Capture alien tech and even the aliens themselves to improve your equipment and take the fight back to them. The only dislike is the mission timer.

Zaber is unfortunately away today, so we once again welcome back Skazz

After our normal rambling, we kick off talking about the sad news of the death of Akira Toriyama, creator of Dragon Ball and character designer of Chrono Trigger and Dragon Quest. Skazz gives a brief talk about the various Dragon Ball series and his opinions on it.

Related to above Skazz has also been playing Dragon Ball Z: Kakarov. A RPG that follows the Dragon Ball Z series story line with an interesting upgrade mechanic and how he feels its a game built for the the hard core Dragon Ball fans.

Ram has been manipulating the stock market and doing some dodgy deals in The Invisible Hand. A first person game where you are a stockbroker trying to make huge amounts of money with careful trades and perhaps some dodgy dealings, as well as owning property and getting rapidly promoted.

We also discuss the stresses of married life, Avoiding the government heavy’s, making people feel old, using Tesla chargers to power up attacks and Ram has to prove he exists

We have problems saying the name of our first game, Tiny Tina’s Wounderlands. A spin off of Borderlands themed around a tabletop RPG board game. It has great voice acting and humour. Still with the Borderland staples of randomised weapons and being very silly, but now featuring an overworld. We also talk about the main Borderlands series, the back story and its up and downs of the series.

Ram revisits a previous discussed game, Kerbal Space Program, a fantastic space sim about building rockets and launching them into space to complete missions and heading to other planets. Plus Ram fumbles explaining orbital mechanics to Zaber

Welcome to episode 237

We kick off with discussing Valentine's Day, traditionally a day for spoiling the ladies, and we find out Denmark has a special day to follow up for the guys. it doesn’t quite have the same romantic name, we also find out Zaber would not skip games night for love.

Ram gives us a little bit of background on the concept of prepper’s, people getting prepared for the worst case scenarios but stocking up on supplies and building bunkers. This brings onto what he’s been playing in Mr Prepper. You have to build a bunker, scavenge or trade supplies and maintain a facade for the oppressive government agents. All to get to the end goal of escaping from the country. The game has been generally well received and has some neat ideas, but Ram feels it lets itself down with a grinding slog to get what you need and not being partially hard.

Zaber has been playing a horror game called Little Nightmares, playing as a small girl trying to navigate through puzzle’s with stealth to escape a nightmarish world filled with mutated people. Short but sweet and looks amazing.

Ram has been continuing making use of his free trial of Apple TV by watching For All Mankind, an alternative timeline tv series where the Russians won the race to moon, kicking off a space race with time jumps between seasons spanning it over several decades.

We also discussed the now deceased game streaming service Stadia and how elite we were at Pubg.

Ram has been giving out quotes and then ghosting people, as well as drinking lots of tea in Builder Simulator, a game where you get to design, construct and decorate a house. Fun mechanic with a few annoyances, as well as an completely hateful character.

Skazz is back on the road with his bike after many years of non-riding, we discuss some old planned road trips and possibly of going on one next year.

Ram has been causing space based carnage in meeple stations, A game similar to rimworld but with some big drawbacks, and differently not a version 1 game. We learn how many stations Ram has doomed to a horrific death via mis-managment, including lack of plumbing, sentient poos and misplaced ladders

In our first podcast broadcast on New Year Eve, we have a tipsy ram and a sober Skazz, as we discuss out last games we've played this year. Skazz talks about the incredible in-depth 'colony simulator' with Dwarf Fortress. This game has been, and still is,  in development for the last 20 years. Recently released on steam as the first paid version. Skazz has barely scratched the surface, but has enjoyed the game so much he even changes his game of the year! He tell us about some of the interesting bugs from the game, unsurprising given this game tracks dwarfs individual teeth.

Ram has been finishing the final game in the new rebooted trilogy, Hitman 3. He talk about the depth of the game, but how the game has not really moved on from the previous games in series and not introduced anything new.

We have a bit of an issue, life has got in the way an impacted our gaming lives so not much to discuss, but that's not going to stop us!

We do manage to find time to discuss the next mission on Demeo, Realm of the Rat King, Ram talks about which version he prefers having now played both PC and VR versions. 

Skazz sons has now reach the first age of man, and has been allowed his own VR headset, responsible parenting and why young kids should not be allowed VR headsets.

We are still living in post-apocalypse Russia, but have escaped the metro and heading into the wilderness around Moscow in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. like Metro: Exodus. Skazz is a quite bit further through the game then ram, but we've still played enough for us to discuss some of the gameplay elements. we talk about some changed to accommodate that larger more "open-world" levels including how throwing knives are still OP and how we love them. We talk about the new crafting system and our preferred guns fish worshipers and Skazz's bandit mate Dave.

We them move onto talking about Warhammer: Vermintide 2, the co-op hack-n-slash where we slice down hoards of Skaven and Chaos worshipers. We look at the new class system, the special ability's and some of the other minor changes.

Skazz has completed another solo 24-hour livestream with some issues networking issues, He played almost all the way through Marvel Spider-man (PS4) fun open world game with some shit enforced stealth bit and poorly designed Mr Postive/Negative.

Ram has been reliving the same day again and again in Deathloop, the new game from some of the Dishonored developers. He has been having to try and kill 8 people in a 24 hour period, the game is fun but missing an x-factor.

TheSuffolkRam has not been playing games as hes been living in a tent for a week, but has been watching a number of shows. First of is the sci-fi anthology series Love, Death and Robots. Then the Russian sci-fi thriller with Sputnik and finally German time-travel drama Dark.

He then talks about the upcoming subscription service from Game Workshop, Warhammer+, which a surprisingly fairly priced service.

We also discuss Skazz new laptop, eSports, new strategies in old games and some confusion between two animes.

Skazz revisits MechWarrior 5 on the console to see if they have fixed the issues. Thankfully, they have! and also as a bonus they've updated the controls on the PC, however the console has some other issues including framerates. He also discuss some of the changes to the story and gameplay on consoles.

Ram has been finding what his neighbors has been hiding in his basement n Hello Neighbors. A indie stealth game with rather janky physics and poor controls, but an interesting AI controlled opponent.

We also compare out taskbar's and our earlier careers of IM apps, plus we discuss our upcoming 24hour live stream.

This week Ram has been having fun flying about and landing on his friends fields in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. Hes talk about the excellent HOTAS support, the toggleable VR and landing on his friends field. We discuss how sims feel so much better with proper controller support.

Skazz tried to play MechWarrior 5, after Ram's disappointment last episode, Skazz wanted to see if it worked better with a game pad. Unfortunately it did not work much better

Welcome to episode 165

We kick off with Ram's rat problem update, and its getting serious now involving firepower.  

The guys have been playing the Stadia exclusive Orc Must Die 3, a single/co-op game similar to a tower defense game. Set up fun traps and defend a point from wave and waves of Orc's without letting too many through. 

Ram has finally bit the bullet and signed up to Xbox Game Pass and despite his issues with the client being so slow and basically rubbish, he has managed to get download Mechwarrior 5.

His love of the series has a tough challenge as he has to face issues with poor joystick support and issue with moving as a person. And its criminal lack of VR support

We also discuss Apple's version of quantum mechanics, Ram meeting the police, and skazz's new carpet and his fun updating monitor firmware, a PC Gamers house, plus Ram gets the giggles twice.

Skazz talk about a new tool to save time re-installing various OS, Ventoy is a tool to have multiple ISO of various operating systems allowing you select which one to install, so no need to carry multiple disk/pen drives.

Ram has been playing a classic with Tom Clancy Ghost Recon, a classic mil-sim shooter with terrible AI, janky graphics and rocket proof leaves.

We've all been playing the recently released Valheim, a viking survival simulator/MMO game with base building. We've been playing this for game night and discuss out experiences with it and what we hope they fix/change by full release.

We have a brief look back at our year in lockdown, and start with an apology for last podcast.

Skazz talks about the latest released Monster Hunter game, Monster Hunter Rise. Despite being a based on the more modern 'casual' mechanical style of Monster Hunter. Skazz has been enjoying it none the less. he talks about the mechanics changes including the introduction of a more advanced grappling hook seen in previous games, and riding monsters

TheSuffolkRam has been playing an interesting short game with Stories Untold. four short episodes base on text adventure, lab testing and using a microfiche to solve puzzles.

Ram has watching two shows with a similar theme, people who are immortal and cannot be killed. First off with The Old Guard. Netflix's take on the idea with a small group of superhero style mercenary on the run from people trying to learn the abilities. Then with a Japanese Anime called Ajin: Demi Human. also featuring people discovering there ability's and having to hide from the movement, and a group who decide to fight back

We also discuss audiobook hosting and skazz's data hording and our choice of head phones. We also talk about why its not a bad thing to male games unfair.

We come back to a game we played many years ago that TheSuffolkRam liked  and Ska4zzi0us didn't. Warhammer The End Times: Vermintide. A 4 player  co-op set in the Warhammer Old World setting. You're a ragtag group in a  Empire city being attacked by Skaven. It plays like left for dead but  with rat men. We talk about the randomization, the fun gameplay, the AI  for bots and the Skaven and some of its neat features

Aside from killing rats, Ram has been getting back into games  programming after completing a course and switching over from Unity to  the Unreal engine, we discuss the differences in quality of software,  getting into making games and how best to learn new skills.

Skazz talks about drawing tablets for digital artwork and the costs involved, free software for doing said artwork and we also talk about how easy it is to get into digital work

Watch out for Ram going off the deep end explaining Warhammer 40k lore.  We also discuss how technology is marching on, old school special  effects and the national GPU shortage.

Skazz joins us sleep deprived after completing a 24 hour livestream by him self. First of he played Duke Nukem add on to Bulletstorm, A fast passed shooter from 2011 trying to re-kindle the feelings of early 90's shooters. He then moves onto playing the remake of Duke Nukem 3d on the Nitendo Switch. 

Moving on, he played No More Heros becoming an Assassin in order to get laid, he follows up with No More Heros 2 once again trying to get to the top of he assassin guild in his local town.

Ram has been playing some co-op games with a halloween theme, first up is Killing Floor: Incursion. A game with Zombie like enemy's and and having to make use of two handed weapons. A fun game with a major problem.

The guys have also been hunting ghosts in Phasmophobia, you and upto three friends use a varity of tools to ID a type of ghost and try to avoid joining the ranks of the dead yourself.

Skazz has been also been playing Genshin Impact an MMO that plays and looks like Zelda Breath of the Wild,

We've both been playing Ex-Nerd, Bard, favorite game: Payday 2. Sk4zzi0us and TheSuffolkRam along with Game Night nerd Zaber have proven themselves as the worst criminals taking on a number of Heists when stealth is never an option and mowing down the most well equipped police force in the world.

We talk about the different heists, stealth, weapon customization and the complicated lobby system. 

Ram has been playing the latest in the Half Life game series with Half-Life: Alyx. The VR game from valve software and the first Half-Life game in 13 years. Instead of a traditional shooter, the game takes a more survival horror game with limited ammo, tough enemy's and only three weapons.

We look at the newly announce Oculus Quest 2, improving on the normal Oculus in pretty much every way, and it even cheaper. Skazz set us up with a new keep fit challenge involving VR

Moving onto gaming, Skazz talks about a couple of shooters he's been playing, first with Superhot VR, an interesting puzzle shooter when the time only moves in the game when you move. And then onto A-Tech Cybernetic, another shooter witch interesting uses both teleporting and normal movement.

TheSuffolkRam and Skazz have been picking their games of the decade 2010-2019. The rules being they must new games or series released between those years. They are allowed one cheat game that breaks those rules.

For our first games, Skazz kick off with Destiny the multiplayer shooter from Bungee, the markers of Halo and Marathon, saving the universe from Aliens. meanwhile, TheSuffolkRam has been experiencing bleak Russian Sci-fi with his first choice, the Metro series.

Moving onto our next choice Skazz has gone for a blast from the past with a game he discussed on our very first Podcast, Hyperdimension Neptunia. Ram follow suit by discussing Dishonored.

Midway through our lists Skazz relive his Armored Core fantasy with the 2019 release Daemon ex machina. Ram similarly picks a game series that finished last year with Telltales The Walking Dead adventure game series.

We then move onto our penultimate choices, Skazz picking the Souls series of games and talks about the difficulty, Ram picks out the philosophic game SOMA and discuss the idea of brain downloading.

And finally, our last choice of game Skazz is split between Steins;gate, Senran Kagura, but finally settles on Asura’s Wrath. Ram finishes off with explaining his love of the Far Cry series.

With very little background knowledge we take the dangerous move to discuss the ongoing censorship of china related criticisms, featuring Blizzard censorship of the winner of a heath stone tournament and Disney deleting Winnie the pooh

Ram has been watching part three of Money Heist, which follows on from the first two after the gang succeeded in robbing the Spanish Mint, one of the group get captured and held for torture.

Its no surprise that Skazz is still playing the Ys series of game with Ys 6: VI: The Ark of Napishtim, hes been testing to see if a bug with cut scenes not playing on linux happens on this version of the game as well.
