It’s June first! And I see a lot of sun out there! It’s almost that time to step back and assess our fantasy baseball squads to see what we need to shake up before summer arrives.

This season’s line for Valdez is enough to inspire a rage drop: in 67.2 IP, he has damaged his fantasy managers by earning a 4.39 ERA (supported by a 4.34 xERA, 4.14 FIP, and 4.29 xFIP) and a 1.32 WHIP. His BB/9 is up to 3.33, not great. His K/9 is down to 7.18, also not great. His K% makes things look even worse, as he’s down to 18.3% from last year’s 23.3%, causing his K-BB% to drop from last year’s 14.8% to 9.8% in 2026.

The weather and some of these hitters are getting HOT. Unfortunately, roster slots are finite, and we cannot pick up anyone and everyone willy-nilly.

Fantasy Baseball H2H Streamers – Week 11: April Showers Brings May Flowers

I had some nervy streamers as recommendations last week, but I was pleased with the results. Merrill Kelly and Jack Flaherty were horrid all season, but they put together some nice starts, making for a successful week of streamers. Fantrax blessed Cardinals Rookie OF Bryan Torres with the gift of eligibility before he stepped foot on a big league field, granting him access to Catcher and Second Base along with his native Outfield spot. Interesting. I overpaid to get him in a couple 15-teamers where he was floating around. Maybe he goes back to Springfield like Homer Simpson after a reality altering escapade. Maybe he plays pretty much every day in the outfield while starting at catcher for our fantasy squads. I’d have to drink some Brain & Nerve Tonic to skip that far into the future, and I’m not sure the trade-off is worth the hurt, but I’m pretty sure Torres is worth a spot in most leagues where you’ve got one to spare.

One of the hardest lessons in fantasy baseball is separating production from value. Just because a player is helping your team today doesn’t mean he’s going to help it tomorrow. Every season, a handful of recognizable stars put together stat lines that look great on the surface, but underneath the hood are warning signs that savvy managers can’t afford to ignore. Sometimes it’s an unsustainable batting average fueled by batted-ball luck. Sometimes it’s a home run pace that doesn’t match the quality of contact. And sometimes it’s simply a matter of name value carrying more weight than the actual rest-of-season outlook. This is the point in the season when contenders need to start thinking like investors rather than fans. If another manager still values a player based on draft-day expectations, past accomplishments, or a hot first two months, there may be an opportunity to cash out before regression arrives. Selling high isn’t about predicting collapse, it’s about recognizing when the market is willing to pay for a version of a player that probably doesn’t exist. These are the hitters whose current value may never be higher than it is right now.
