I picked it out on a whim, with no idea if it'd actually work.

I got it home and it was expectedly very glitchy, but also just a bit dirty - probably years in storage, and the foam pad holding the ROM chips was degrading (and sticking to the chip contacts). I finally sat down today to start really cleaning and caring for this thing and ... It's Working!

Turns out that the key fail point is ensuring that enough pressure is on the ROM chip when it's seated into the faux cartridge. It's a bit tricky (I think I might snag a very small c-clamp to maintain the pressure) but so far, I've got three games working. A LOT of work to go to clean the rest, but this is such a cool piece of Atari history.

I've not been able to confirm the story, but apparently it was made by a former Atari employee as a sort of home-brew, and his daughter sold it off in an estate sale. I'm trying to get a bit more information about this one. Stay tuned! =)

   submitted by /u/bowmanspartan
[link] [comments]

It's aallivvee! Is there a way to see it?

4) Some of these mame titles fire up but there’s audio reverberations like in after burner II. Other titles like Cruisin’ USA and Cyberball have audio issues and run incredibly slow because it’s trying to replicate dual cab behavior. These worked on I guess later versions of mame for me fine. So did stuff like marvel super heroes. Why didn’t Atari/ my arcade pick a newer version of mame or are they working on adding support to additional titles? -(The cyberball one blows my mind as it is an Atari game. Don’t know why they didn’t do a reloaded version of it either…)

Thanks for your help, feedback and suggestions!

   submitted by /u/AdvancedDay7854
[link] [comments]

Gamestation Go n00bish questions

  submitted by /u/retrotoysandcartoons
[link] [comments]

Who Else Played Smurf: Rescue in Gargamel’s Castle on the Atari? 💙🎮

Hello!
