I must be the most unathletic person I know. I tried out for damned near every sport in high school and sucked at all of them. Thank goodness I could write. (yearbook and newspaper for the win!)

However, none of that stops me from loving watching most sports, especially the Olympics. On my bucket list of things to do before I kick the bucket is to attend an Olympic Game, so maybe Los Angeles 2028 may be in my future.

Those athletes are awe-inspiring. As much fun as I had dancing around chanting: USA, USA in my ratty yoga pants and forty-year-old Adam and the Ants t-shirt, you know which winners I enjoyed the most?

The bronze medalists.

Most of them were so joyous to make it to the podium. They did the work—in the dark, in the rain, before work, leaving their spouses and children they trained. And when they made it to the big show, they ran their own race.

Right now, that’s what I’m trying to do: write the books I want and show up in ways that make me the happiest. Yes, I know writing isn’t all puppies and rainbows. I wish like hell it was, but I can’t do all the things. What I wish to do most of all is write.

Which is why I’ll have a new mailing list exclusive short story. The plan is to use the time I spend mindlessly browsing social media and rolling my eyes (looking at you, TikTok) on something more productive—like writing my books, posting on my blog, and learning how to write short stories. Somehow they manage to turn into 10k+ words monsters, but I guess that’s part of the learning process.

So if you’re actually reading this on my website, what are you waiting for?

As a woman of a certain age, I often wonder if I’ve waited too long or if it's too late to achieve the lofty dreams of girlhood. Well, there’s a good chance that performing on Broadway or becoming Diana Ross is out of the picture.

But the rest?

As long as I have both my mental and physical health, there’s time. Do you still have unfulfilled dreams? After leaving the U.S. Navy, the twenty-five-year-old newlywed version of me stepped into a civilian life filled with hopes and dreams.

Then that shit came to a screeching halt. Adulting was boring. I looked around, then vowed not to be a cog in the machine. The search for a place other than spouse, mom, friend, and worker was tough. As women, we’re often told that those are the things that matter. That serving is our sole purpose in life.

Maybe it is, but why should serving ourselves come last?

What’s the point of this word vomit?

I figured out that my way to serve is to tell stories. Be it on stage, with song, or painting images with words, that’s why I was put here. So, regardless of whether I write a Pulitzer-winning novel or a Tony-award-winning play, I’ve already accomplished my purpose.

Every American, apart from the indigenous tribes already here, brought with us to these shores our ancestors, beliefs, and even gods. Like most of us, I grew up learning about Zeus and his buddies, some Celtic myths, and biblical lore.

I thought: wouldn’t it  be fun to incorporate deities, myths, legends, and magics from a wider variety of cultures? Hell yeah.

 So, time for Reggi to go on a hunt. My favorite starting point for character ideas is the Encyclopedia of Spirits, the ultimate guide to the magic of fairies, genies, demons, ghosts, gods & goddesses, by Judika Illes.

This book is packed full of legends, some you’ve already met, and many more to come in future books.

All the shenanigans happening with TikTok reinforced the necessity of using my online home. And with that realization came an announcement that my former hosting site was shutting down in June.

I often join promotions with other authors to share each other’s work. No, I haven’t read them all, but you bet your sweet tush that I’ve availed myself of the books that tickle my fancy.

So what are my plans for my new spot on Beyonce’s internet? Stay tuned for story snippets, dream cast photos, character introductions, and studies. Will I post every day? Have you met me? That would be a big fat no.
