Sarah and Brad’s Columbus Athenaeum wedding will always be special to us for many reasons, the biggest being that I was a surprise for the bride! The bride’s mother was particularly picky about wedding photos because she is a retired wedding photographer of 30 years. So, she did tons of research, contacted me, and together we got to surprise Sarah and Brad with a wedding package.

Things I will always remember from this day:
The bride and groom were both into theater, which meant for animated photo-ops! They made my job easy because they enjoyed playing into the camera by allowing their personalities to shine through. They were anything but shy and really had fun with the photos and especially with one another.

This is one of the first years that I can remember every spring tree blooming at the same time. The colors that day were gorgeous.

Sarah is a member of the Salty Caramels, a local band. She surprised her mom during the reception by serenading her. Her incredible performance and heart-felt song was all about how she found someone who would always take care of her (Brad), and that her mom would never have to worry about her daughter’s happiness…it was quite an amazing moment that will always be remembered.

Robb McCormick is a photographer based out of Columbus, Ohio. After an emotional first look with her dad, Tiffany got ready to see Greg for the first time. The moment was perfect as Greg adoringly look at his bride. Greg and Tiffany, along with their bridal party enjoyed an urban, roof top photo shoot overlooking the Columbus city skyline. We then headed to the Ohio Statehouse for formals.

As we were enjoying our time with the bride, groom and bridal party, one of the most special moments of the day happened. A little girl who was walking by the Statehouse with her family saw Tiffany and thought she was a real princess. She just had to jump in for a photo with the princess who was dressed in a beautiful white gown shimmering under the sunlight. What a wonderful moment before heading to the church.

The couple had a beautiful ceremony at Peace Lutheran Church. After their first kiss, it was time to head to the Columbus Athenaeum to have a rip-roarin’, 1920’s party. The Great Gatsby theme was felt throughout the entirety of the ballroom; the floral arrangements were laced with feathers, the decor was art deco, and the incredible band was playing jazz and swing. Every detail was perfectly executed to achieve an elegant, yet fun themed wedding.

Some things I will always remember about this wedding: the groomsmen had me laughing non-stop during our session, the bride’s fathers enthusiastic strut after seeing his daughter for the first time, the performances by the Broadway singer who was also in the family, and of course the little girl who thought she saw a real princess.

Robb McCormick is a photographer based out of Columbus, Ohio who specializes in weddings, portraiture, and corporate work. The day started with Bryan and his groomsmen getting ready on-site. The groom’s joyous demeanor made for an easy and fun photo shoot. After the groom and his groomsmen had channeled their inner GQ models, we headed over to Abby’s dressing room. After her bridesmaids and mother helped Abby into her dress and hook on her veil, the bride headed to see her dad for the first time. What a moment. The bride’s father was smiling ear to ear, almost bursting with happiness for his daughter. After a tearful first-look between Abby and her father, the bride and her bridesmaids laughed and cheered (for the Buckeye’s)throughout their entire photo session.

As the ceremony approached, the guests weaved through the woods to find their seats on hay barrels amidst the perfect fall day. Bryan waited at the make-shift altar to see Abby coming down the isle. We have photographed countless grooms, but Bryan’s reaction to seeing his bride walking toward him was something we will never forget. His love, excitement, and utter happiness was felt by each person there……I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house. After an incredible ceremony that had everyone laughing and crying, the couple walked blissfully into the woods as newly-weds.

After their formal photo shoot, that was crashed by one of the ranch’s roosters!!!, it was time for the reception. The simple barn was glittered with Christmas lights, impressive floral arrangements, elegant table settings, and an extravagant dessert table. The atmosphere the couple created through the ambiance of the venue and their extremely energetic spirits forced every wedding guest to dance the night away.

Shimra and Jonny – Torat Emet Synagogue Wedding

Shimra and Jonathon were married Labor Day weekend at the Torat Emet Synagogue in Bexley, Ohio. Shimra, with her closest friends and family around, got ready for the most exciting day of her life. As she stepped into her custom lace and tulle gown, everyone in the room could feel her overwhelming joy.

In the same building, Jonathon calmly got ready with anticipation. After the the last cuff link had been fastened and one more final spray of hairspray, Shimra and Jonathon headed out of the synagogue separately in anticipation of their first look. The perfect scene was set in a close friends private garden on a Bexley estate that is something out of a fairy tale.

After a laughter filled formal photo session, the pair headed back to the synagogue to begin the festivities. From the band that flew in from New York City, to the artfully crafted food made by the bride’s brother (who also is the chef at the JCC), to temple built from stone flown in from Israel, this wedding was anything but ordinary.

They had a beautiful ceremony at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, a quaint, historic church in Victorian Village. After their ceremony Kara and Paul, with their bridal party, ventured to the Ohio State House for their formal photo session. This gave a dramatic, grandiose back drop to the stunning couple and their bridal party. Before heading to their reception, the couple made one last stop to German Village. The brick, sprinkled with flowers and trees offered deep color contrasts to the sophisticated bride and groom.

The reception was held at the Grange Audubon Center adorned with modern, elegant accents. The white and green floral arrangements gave a summery feel to the simple decor. The room looked elegant with understated details on each table. The reception was filled with well performed speeches, funny stories, food, cocktails, dancing, and romance. A perfect setting for a late summer wedding.
