Today via his twitter feed @tweetgrubes announced that on April 6th, 2012 he will be leaving the ticket to go back to college at UNT. Needless to say, the DFW area the world was stunned. Some are calling this the end of BaD Radio and The Hardline. Those people are exaggerating, but it’s bad. (Is this bad? drop here).

Back in the beginning of our little podcast, Grubes was nice to enough to grant us an interview. We get into his story about how he started at the Ticket, his band, his friendship with Dirk Nowitzki and even tried to turn his own drops on him, plus a lot more. Yep, two episodes released in one week! It’s a Super Bowl miracle.

Most of you are used to the occasional cuss word on The Ruby Room. Somehow, by talking about how David will not cuss this entire month, the rest of us actually cussed more this episode. So if you are offended by foul, filthy, dirty language, why are you even listening to us in the first place?

Also in this episode, Sammy takes us through a topic tumbler. We go over his February Challenge, give our Super Bowl predictions, and other mind tingling topics.

The Ruby Room – Episode 23

We’re Back….Kinda!

The Rangers lost the World Series to the St. Louis Cardinals and it almost killed The Ruby Room Podcast. But, we could not let that happen! We are back…ish.

As you will find out in this episode, we have moved locations. The original Ruby Room is under construction so we were kicked out. Luckily we landed in Sea Gull Studios (AKA Sammy’s House) where our band records. Unfortunately this brought about new issues. One such issue is apparently batteries don’t last as long here. About halfway through the show, David’s mic lost power and he becomes very difficult to hear. For some, this might be considered a good thing. New batteries will be purchased before the next show.

We only do three segments in this episode. Inspired by the movie The Grey we discuss surviving in the wild. Sammy unveils his new February Challenge and an inaudible David talks about Texans and their geographical knowledge.

Stay tuned for the next episode where we will talk about our very first Ruby Room field trip to the movies. We all went to see The Grey, we’ll give your our thoughts and spoilers next week.

The Ruby Room – Episode 20

Oh do we have something good for you. Some days you wake up, go to work, head to the gas station for a taquito, drive to your jam house you affectionately named The Ruby Room, kick out the jams and melt faces, and then lay down the most epic podcast ever recorded.

Ladies and Gentleman, Wednesday was that day.

If you have listened before, well then thank you because we didn’t think anyone did. If you haven’t listened to a single episode, this is the episode to start with. If you never listen to another podcast for the rest of your life, listen to this one. If you are deaf, go to a spiritual healer and let him place his hands upon you and give you the gift of hearing. When he tells you it will only be temporary don’t go to the opera or listen to Mozart. Head straight to a computer, go to iTunes, search Ruby Room Podcast, download Episode 19, and let your ears enjoy the sweet sweet sounds of Greg, Sammy, and David; then you can go back to being deaf and know that you have truly experienced the greatest auditory event, ever recorded.

Episode 19 had a run sheet, but I’m not sure we followed it. We were supposed to talk about celebrities, sports, and human natural gas (farts). I’m pretty sure we hit all of those topics somewhere.

We have good news and bad news. Good news is, Episode 18 is here! Bad news is, we will not record a new episode this week. David has a work trip so we will return to the Ruby Room next week.

The Ruby Room – Episode 18

Look at that. Two new episodes only a couple days apart. It’s like Ruby Room Hanukkah in August.

Get ready for another wheels off episode. We were still coming down from the high from Episode 16 and another great jam session. Side note: Our band Ruby Alexander has committed to playing a live show in front of live people before Halloween. If you know any places that host full band open mic nights, lets us know.

In this episode, David tells us what year is the best year to be born. He outlines a 12 point argument. See if you agree.

After that, Greg get’s us into a little natural disaster talk. With Hurricane Irene threatening the east coast and the earthquake the week before, we share some of our own natural disaster experiences and debate which is the worst natural disaster of them all.

To finish it off, we dive into pop-culture and discuss Kim Kardashian. Her recent marriage and media attention has Greg wondering, how did this all start? Why are we so obsessed with her? How can he get in her pants?

Somehow we have gotten a week behind releasing our episodes. Maybe we will catch up and release two of them this week, lucky you!

Episode 14 is our most external audio intensive one yet!

First we begin with bands/songs we are listening to right now. Each of us plays a clip of a song that we love right now. Some are new, some are old, some haven’t even been released yet.

After that, we finally get the pay off from Episode 4 when David won lost the “How Much Would it Take” segment. If you forgot or didn’t listen (you should) to Episode 4. David and Greg played a game to find out how much money it would take for them to perform a embarrassing stunt. The stunt was to yell penis 8 times at the top of your lungs in a crowded bar. Finally, 10 episodes later, you can hear the audio of David standing on a chair in the middle of The Endzone Bar and Grill in Plano, TX. Video also available here.

Then we geek out for a minute and talk about some of our favorite websites. We don’t mean Facebook, Google, etc. These are more obscure and you might want to listen, you could be missing out on some greatness from the interwebs.

To end Episode 14 we get into Breakfast Cereal Talk. This has to be one of our favorite segments so far. If we didn’t think we would lose all of our fans, the three of us could probably discuss cereal for an entire episode. We tackle subjects such as “After Milk,” chocolate vs. marshmallow, best cereal mascots, and much more. Let us know your favorites in the comments.

The Ruby Room – Episode 14

Well, this is the episode we had hoped to announce the winner of the Dirkswish.com legendary Icon T-Shirt. We heard back from a few of you that wanted it, but nobody posted their answers. Luckily for you, we are extending the contest. The contest will run until July 31st. After that, one of us is going to steal the shirt and keep it for ourselves. If you need a reminder of the questions, listen to Episode 12 or read them here.

In Episode 13 we start off with some headline and entertainment news. The Ruby Room, where more Americans get their news, than probably should. (Stolen from the Daily Show).

As this is Episode 13 and we actually recorded it on July 13th, we look into superstitions and where the fear of the number 13 originated. Find out who is and who isn’t superstitious and why.

Then it is time for the Topic Tumbler. We quick hit topics ranging from music, to Google Plus, to weird lyrics and more.

Finally, to wrap it up, we get to a topic Sammy has been begging for since we started The Ruby Room Podcast – Women’s Sports. OK, maybe not begging, but in light of the USA Women’s World Cup performance, we ask where women’s sports fits into our sports lives. We even attempt to rank the top female sports to watch.

Also, shout out to our second ever group on the band spotlight, Ill-iteracy. There have been some talks back and forth and we may just have them on in an upcoming episode, so check back for updates on that.

The Ruby Room – Episode 13

First of all, we want to apologize for the audio quality on the last couple episodes. You see, we don’t actually own any of our equipment and sometimes the real owner needs to use it. When we get it back, a lot of times the levels have changed. We aren’t really experts here, so we don’t always get them back to where they are supposed to be. Good news is, Episode 12 should be much better!

Also, some good news, the return of the Band Spotlight. This week we feature a sweet rock band from Milwaukee named AVEDIS. That is pronounced Ah-vee-dis, by the way. We found this out after we recorded the episode. We will post more about them on the Music Page.

We will also ask the question, “If you could start college over, knowing what you know now, what would you change?” We all thought we knew everything when we got to college but now that we are 7-9 years removed, what would we have done differently?

For those of you who have the password and were brave enough to listen to Episode 1, we bring back the first segment we ever did on The Ruby Room, “Would You Rather.” This time we try not to cross the line too much, but we still manage to have a little fun.

The Ruby Room – Episode 12

Episode 11 has arrived and it is full of Ruby Room goodness.

This week we start of with a brand new segment called “Dear Ruby Room.” We asked our friends on Facebook to send us questions they need answered. We picked the best ones (the ones we knew the answer to) and answered them on air. Thanks to everyone who sent in your questions. We really enjoy segments where we can interact with our listeners.

Next, came the non-segment segment. Basically, we set aside 10 minutes of the show where we had nothing planned. We figured it would either be a massive fail or a mild success. We did have our first ever live guest interview so you be the judge, fail or not?

That brought us to Pet Peeve Talk. We all have a couple pet peeves that drive us crazy. We read some of the best from around the internet and chime in with a couple of our own.

Finally, the segment that David almost forgot, Favorite Chick Flicks. Being the manly men that we are, we forced ourselves to pick to define what makes a movie a Chick Flick and then, picked some of our favorites. FYI, Greg and David break out into some pretty great a cappella renditions of famous chick flick ballads.

By the way, if you haven’t listened to Episode 10, you owe it to yourself to go back listen. We have gotten some pretty explosive feedback to one of the segments and there is still controversy brewing.

The Ruby Room – Episode 11

Episode 10!!!

We have reached double digits!  We are so excited that we have made it this far.

Today’s episode is special and jam packed.  We have a special Episode 10 intro, we announce our first ever contest, and much much more.  We had so much amazing stuff to talk about and we have been off for awhile so to make up for it, this episode is a 2 for 1.  Sit back, grab a beer, and crank it up, you are going to love it.

Starting off we revisit a favorite segment, the Topic Tumbler.  We discuss our favorite sports athletes growing up and now.  Also, we debate the idea of the batter up song.  After that we talk about our favorite and least favorite foreign countries, I bet you can’t guess which one Sammy picks.

Then, all hell breaks loose.  Public Restroom talk is next but you will hear, it quickly turns in to a question of bathroom hygiene  and methodology.  As you listen, think about your “technique” and let us know in the comments or on Facebook if you side with Sammy and Greg, or with David.

Headline News is next.  Some of the stories we continue the theme that seems to run through the entire episode, see if you can figure out what it is.  To give you an idea, the headlines are “Spit or Swallow,” “Burger Anyone?,” and “I Wish I was a Little Bit Taller, I Wish I was a Balla.”

The Ruby Room – Episode 10

We have almost reach double digits! Episode 9 is finally here.

This episode was recorded days ago but we have been crazy busy with Mavs games and our “real jobs” so for those of you who came to the site the last couple days expecting a new episode, we apologize for our tardiness.

So good news, bad news. Bad news is, this is the shortest episode ever. Good news, this is the shortest episode ever.

In Episode 9 we get a report from Sammy and Greg’s trip to Tulsa to see the Foo Fighters. Last week they told us about the show, this week we hear audio as they interviewed random bartenders, audience members, and the randoms on the street.

We also get into a little rapture talk. If you have been following the news, on May 21st the world was supposed to end. Well, it didn’t but Harold Camping, the preacher who called it, has amended his previous prediction and has now decided October 21st will be the day of our final judgement. In light of this news, we asked our friends on facebook and twitter what they would do if they knew the world was going to end and we give you our thoughts as well.

The Ruby Room – Episode 9

Eight is Great! We weren’t sure we were going to make it this week but alas, Episode 8 is here.

Apologies to those of you who suffered through David’s slurred speech in Episode 7. We guarantee this week everyone is alcohol free.

First we get into a little Airplane Talk. All three of us recently flew the friendly skies, but were they so friendly? David plays audio of the “evil baby” a couple rows back and Greg and Sammy share their experience flying to Tulsa, OK for the Foo Fighters concert.

Speaking of the Foo, Sammy and Greg give us a review of the concert they saw just two days ago up in Tulsa, OK. Both are Foo virgins was Dave Grohl was gentle?

The time has come! Finally, Grubes – The Interview Part 2 has arrived. It took a little longer than expected but it was worth it. That’s right, the second and final part of the Grubes interview can be heard today in Episode 7.

But that’s not all. We also talk about who America wants to cheat on their spouse with. Yep, a website called ashleymadison.com actually took a poll and ranked the Top 10 celebrities that America’s men and women would like to have an affair with. We try to guess who they are and voice our opinions.

Also, another epic moment in the same episode, we crown the winner of the 2011 Villain Tournament of Champions! Who will take home the crown, Anton Chigurh, The Joker, The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, or Jaws?

The Ruby Room – Episode 7

First of all we must apologize to all of you who expected to hear Part 2 of Grubes – The Interview in today’s episode. We were scheduled to finish up the interview this week but Grubes had some last minute business and had to reschedule. We will catch up with him again and he promised to be extra funny.

To fill the time we improvised and Greg helps us break down the best and worst “Man-Dates” and the etiquette that goes along with them.

To lead off Episode 6 we have a new segment called, “Topic Tumbler” where we take a few topics that probably wouldn’t fill an entire segment but they have been tumbling through our heads recently. Each of us brings a couple topics and we quick hit with our opinions.

Also, for those of you have been following the Villain Tournament of Champions over the last few weeks, we have two Elite 8 match-ups. In the first match we have Freddie Krueger vs. Tony Montana, followed by The Gremlins vs John Doe. Listen to see who moves on to the Final 4.

The day you have been waiting for is here!

In Episode 5 we finally debut Part 1 of Grubes – The Interview. We had a chance to talk with Michael “Grubes” Gruber from 1310 The Ticket and learn more about his time at the station, his band, and more.

Grubes also picks the winner of the match up between The Joker and Colonel Nathan Jessup in the Villain Tournament of Champions.

We begin the show with a radio staple, Headline News. Sammy has found some interesting stories from around the nation and we weigh in. Greg also shocks us with his new look. We were a little short on time this episode so the story we had to skip can be found here.

Our band spotlight this week is a solo act, Jerry Petter. Greg tells us how he met Jerry and we play a couple of his original songs. If you like Country music, you will love Jerry Petter.

The Ruby Room – Episode 4

So we have made it three weeks in a row. The Ruby Room is back with a next episode full of new segments, failed punchlines, and strong opinions.

In Episode 3 we kick off the Villain Tournament of Champions (mouth horn) where we pit 16 of the most evil movie villains against each other in a bracket style tournament. This week we reveal the 16 contestants and pick the first winner.

Speaking of, Shout Out to Maurice Davis Band who is this week’s Band Spotlight. We play two tracks from their current album, Are We Permanent and Greg tries to become the fourth member and back up singer.

The Ruby Room is back for a second episode. Thanks to everyone who listened to our first episode and sent us comments, keep’em coming.

In this episode we play another one of our favorite games, Marry One, Kill One, Bang One. If you have never played it, the premise is simple. We are given three names and we have to chose which one we would marry, which one we would kill, and which one we would bang. It’s not as easy you might think and there a couple questionable choices.

We have a new weekly segment in The Ruby Room where we feature a local or unknown band. We have reached out to a few bands that we enjoy and they have been kind enough to let us use their music. This week’s band is iLL-iteracy, a hip hop group from Roanoke, Virginia. Download their album for free on their site and follow them on twitter @iLLiteracy.

Finally, we re-watch the cult classic, Dazed and Confused. Greg tells us how he turned down a starring role and we let you know whether it stands the test of time. Some of the opinions might surprise you.
