Starting on my 26th birthday (1/5/15) I’ll be reviewing an album (almost) every day, hoping to reach the magic number (300!) before the ball drops on 2016. Each review will start with a short synopsis, followed by a Choice Cut (stand-out track) that I will dive into and play a snippit from. I’ll then share some Next of Kin- related artists that might help you put a thumb on if this album is for you or not. I’ll give each record a rating of Red, Yellow or Green. Red is barely listenable, yellow is worthwhile and green is a great record. When I think something is amazing, I will give it a gold star because, Kindergarten. What gives me the audacity to review an album a day? I’ve been thinking and writing about music for most my life, and have been published on an awesome website called Treble for over three years. I really like Chasney’s approach using this system - it reminds me of work by minimalist classical composers such as John Cage, and I hope he’ll use this method or similar approaches in the future!
