It’s a small cultural revolution, especially in Italy. Until the 1960s, the most prestigious hotel bars were the real temples of cocktail culture. Legendary bartenders ruled here, service was impeccable, and the experience of drinking was elevated to an art form.

For decades, however, hotel bars were largely ignored. Formality—sometimes bordering on stuffy—combined with hotels focusing on other amenities like spas, gyms, and restaurants, made them feel less appealing.

A Historical Toast

The influence of hotel bars on drinking culture has been enormous. Once exclusive to elites, they began to open up in the 2000s, becoming more inclusive and accessible. From London to Singapore, to Canada, modern hotel bars are redefining what it means to socialize over a drink.

The “Golden Age” of hotel bars, between 1860 and the start of Prohibition in the U.S., gave birth to many classic cocktails still enjoyed today. Fast forward to the early 2000s: bars like Sasha Petraske’s Milk & Honey in New York triggered a global renaissance, inspiring a new wave of innovative hotel bars worldwide.

From London to Singapore

Take the Connaught Bar in London, opened in 2008 and led by Agostino Perrone. With its iconic Martini Trolley and artisanal bitters, Connaught balances old-school elegance with interactive service. Perrone’s secret? Making every guest feel involved: personalized cocktails, custom mixers, even bespoke ice and notes accompanying drinks—all designed to create a connection.

Then there’s the Artesian at the Langham Hotel, where Alex Kratena and Simone Caporale redefined hotel cocktails between 2012 and 2016. Forget the “boring hotel bar.” Signature drinks came with playful presentations—like a Piña Colada served via a slushie machine—and earned the Artesian four consecutive spots in The World’s 50 Best Bars.

In 2014, Ryan Chetiyawardana opened Dandelyan (now Lyaness) at London’s Sea Containers Hotel, turning the traditional luxury hotel bar on its head. A botanically inspired menu, DJs spinning hip hop, and an approachable vibe created a “neighborhood bar in a five-star environment.”

Not to forget London’s historic Donovan Bar at Brown’s Hotel, dating back to 1837. With Salvatore Calabrese at the helm, it’s elegant yet informal, welcoming guests regardless of their status—a design choice that makes everyone feel at home.

Asia and Beyond

From London, the modern hotel bar movement spread globally. Singapore, for instance, has become a hub of cocktail culture. The city hosts Bar Convent Berlin spin-offs, Tales of the Cocktail events, and the World’s 50 Best Bars gala.

Proof & Company, co-founded by Paul Gabie and Spencer Forhart, launched Singapore’s Manhattan Bar at the Regent Four Seasons in 2014. Inspired by New York’s cocktail scene, it’s now an independent-feeling destination, complete with the world’s first Solera-aged cocktails and a lively Sunday brunch. The concept proved so successful that it sparked a hotel bar boom in Singapore and Southeast Asia.

Even in Canada, location matters. Edmonton’s JW Marriott in the ICE District leverages proximity to Rogers Place arena to attract locals and visitors alike. Their Alchemy Bar combines craft cocktails with a heated patio overlooking the bustling district—a mix of sophistication and approachability.

Today, hotel bars are thriving like never before. They stand out for their strong sense of identity, welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, and a commitment to high-quality craft. Over the past 15 years, they have experienced a remarkable resurgence, with some of the most exciting and innovative bars now located within hotels around the world. The message is clear: a hotel bar is no longer just a convenience for guests—it has become a destination in its own right, a place where creativity, socializing, and exceptional cocktails come together.

After three decades of abandonment, the iconic Sammezzano Castle in Leccio, Reggello, is finally coming back to life. A symbol of European orientalism and architectural eclecticism, the castle has officially entered its long-awaited phase of structural safety works, marking the first tangible step toward its full restoration and revival.

The ambitious project—initiated in early September and led by the Moretti Family—aims not only to safeguard the castle’s structure but also to restore its historical, artistic, and natural legacy.

“Sammezzano is a dream—first and foremost, a dream of values,” says Ginevra Moretti, CEO of SMZ srl. “For us, it represents a concrete commitment to protecting one of the few remaining examples of oriental and eclectic architecture in Europe. Our immediate goal is to ensure the castle’s safety, followed by the administrative and operational steps needed to open the main floor as a museum, together with the monumental park. We want to return this treasure to the community.”

The vision for Sammezzano goes beyond restoration—it embraces experience, hospitality, and cultural exchange, in harmony with the castle’s historic vocation as a place of encounter and beauty.

As Maximillian Fane, who oversees the restoration’s environmental and botanical aspects, explains:

“We want to create high-level cultural experiences that coexist with the castle’s museal nature and with our commitment to protecting its monumental park. This balance between culture and conservation is at the heart of our mission.”

Nestled on a wooded hill outside the Tuscan village of Leccio (in the municipality of Reggello), Castello di Sammezzano is a 17th-century palace which, during the mid-19th century under the stewardship of the Marquis Ferdinando Panciatichi Ximenes d’Aragona, was transformed into one of Europe’s most extraordinary examples of Moorish Revival and Orientalist architecture. With around 365 uniquely decorated rooms (one for each day of the year), the interior dazzles with a kaleidoscope of colored tiles, intricate stucco, muqarnas ceilings and majestic horseshoe arches — each room bearing its own name and character. Q. What are your impressions of the Italian music scene? Are there any Italian artists who inspire you?

I’m still discovering the contemporary Italian music scene. I know there are many artists and realities I’d love to explore more deeply. I’d like to attend more concerts, listen live, and connect with more people.

I’ve already met some incredible musicians here — truly passionate and talented. I’ve had great teachers and collaborated with amazing artists who inspire me every day. Honestly, I’m most inspired by the musicians around me: those I play with and those performing here in the city.

As for recorded music, Italy has always had incredible producers and arrangers, many of whom work on an international level. You can really feel that cultural exchange in the music.

Q. Who are some international artists you admire, and what draws you to their music or style?

The first thing I listen to in a song is the bass and drums. If they make me move, I’m already in! I really love contemporary African artists who’ve gained international success — TEMS is my favorite. She has a gorgeous voice and a unique style.

I grew up with American R&B, so artists like Jazmine Sullivan have deeply influenced me. I love her tone and vocal detail. Mary J. Blige is another huge inspiration, especially for her fusion of soul and hip-hop and her use of sampling. And of course, Lauryn Hill.

Then there are the great voices that made me fall in love with music: Whitney Houston, Donny Hathaway, Luther Vandross…

I also pay close attention to how involved an artist is in the creative process: do they write? Produce? Collaborate with others? Mariah Carey, for example, is incredible — beyond her voice and perfect pitch, she’s written and produced many of her biggest hits. I love Amy Winehouse for her voice and lyrics, and singer-songwriters like Bobbie Gentry.

I admire artists who can do more than one thing. For me, it’s essential not just to sing, but also to write, play piano, arrange, and produce.

Q: Let’s talk about your new Italian repertoire. What are the themes and inspirations behind it, and what can we expect from this new chapter in your career?

I’ve always loved classic Italian songs. They remind me of jazz standards — few words, but exactly the right ones to say everything that needs to be said.

Back in 2014, I started experimenting with Italian tracks. I recorded a demo of “Cosa sono le nuvole” with composer Battista Lena and sang “Estate” by Bruno Martino in my own way. Over time, I discovered more alternative Italian musicians and started adding Italian songs to my live sets.

One night a guest asked us to play something Italian, so we included “In alto mare” by Loredana Bertè. Then last year, I stumbled upon Mark Ronson’s remix of “Ancora, ancora, ancora” by Mina and immediately decided to add it to my repertoire!

I had dreamed of doing an all-Italian project for a while, but it only became a reality this year, when the producer at Daisy’s asked me to prepare a fully Italian set. After the “Soul & R&B Divas” show, it felt natural to create one dedicated to Italian divas. Mina’s track is now a crowd favorite — and one of mine too!

I write and produce original music, so performing in Italian was an exciting challenge. The positive feedback gave me the confidence to keep going. It’s a new adventure, and I can’t wait to share it!

Lyrical trios exploring the repertoire of the 19th century colonial period, to developing shows for her full band from the golden age of the 1920s Havana, to the Buena Vista Social Club, Cuban Dance, and Afro-Spiritual & Yoruba repertoires.

1 – As soon as you arrived in Florence you won everyone’s heart. What do you think people loved the most?

The piano. It has always spoken for me.

And then I think it was the joy, the music, the colors… that old Cuba style that made the Florentines feel like they were watching the stories of their grandparents, like a documentary or an old film about Cuba in its golden age.

Once, at the butcher’s, an old man told me: “Look at you, you seem like one of those little dolls they bring from the Caribbean…”

2 – When did you realize that music would be your path?

Music has always lived inside me!!!

I was born in Old Havana, the city that in the ’50s had more theaters, cinemas and cabarets than anywhere else in the world. We are a very cultural people. I grew up waking to the sound of drums, to my neighbor the opera singer rehearsing classical music, to the pregones—the chants of street vendors. This cultural richness surrounded me even from my mother’s womb.

I remember as a child, almost every afternoon, I would prepare our living room and invite the neighbors from the solar. I would come down from the loft—what in Cuba we call barbacoa—with a turban on my head, my grandmother’s colorful skirts, full of makeup and colors.

But like every Cuban child, if you dreamed of leaving the island, you had to become either a musician, an athlete, or a doctor. I was lucky! Because I am not athletic at all… and can you imagine me as a doctor? Ahahahah!

3 – Your energy on stage feels almost magnetic. What does energy mean to you, as an artist and as a woman?

Art is a direct connection with the spiritual world, a way of expression through which God shows His beauty.

A woman is a channel through which God brings souls into the world to see that beauty. I feel very connected—as a mother and as an artist—to the universe.

In ancient times people gave thanks to God through rituals with music, songs, and dance… That’s exactly what I feel when I’m on stage!

Before every show I do a spiritual chant of gratitude and blessing—thanking for strength, protection, connection, and good energy. It is my prayer to enter the channel for which I was created.

This is also a spiritual connection I share with the musicians I work with. We always do it before going on stage. After the ritual we greet each other saying: “See you on the other side.” That “other side” does not mean the stage—it means that once we’re on stage, we enter another spiritual dimension, from beginning to end.

4 – If you weren’t a pianist, what would you have liked to become?

A fashion designer.

I love vintage fashion. As a little girl I was always drawing dolls with period dresses, hats, feathers, fans. Even today I dress and design costumes inspired by the stories I want to tell. This is still a dream of mine:

5 – Describe your dream show. What would you put on stage if you could imagine without limits?

My dream show I am already creating with Daisy’s—and I am so grateful for this opportunity to realize every project together with wonderful people and incredibly talented musicians. Of course, there’s always something to refine, improve, or grow… new ideas always come. I feel like I am on a journey, carrying my mission in my hands. Always transforming, like the life of every artist. But grateful and sure of my path: to bring my Cuban culture to the world from a wider perspective.

I have a very particular way of building my shows: I always start from a socio-historical and cultural point of view. Coming from an island shaped by so many cultures, there is no better way to tell my story than through music (blending classical with Afro-Cuban), dance (from folklore to Caribbean styles), singing (from zarzuela to Afro chants), and theater (to tell the story of the creole and authentic society of the island).

To structure my shows I mix all of my artistic experiences: from the Classical Conservatory in Havana, to the National Lyric Theater of Cuba, to my jazz piano training in Fiesole, to the cultural environment in which I grew up.

Usually it starts with a spiritual introduction: after the connection we create backstage, we bring the audience into the same energy. Then comes the virtuosity of the classical studies, the traditional Cuban dance genres, vernacular theater woven with Afro-Cuban rhythms like rumba and guaguancó, Afro-Cuban jazz… and we close with a big carnival, like those along the Havana seafront.

The greatest satisfaction is to see how, after this cultural journey, people’s souls feel uplifted and understand the mission.

I believe a life dedicated to art, to one’s roots and culture, is a life well spent. And that is exactly what I am doing with mine.

Q. Hi Jacopo, and thank you for your time! We’re seeing some real shifts in tourism here in the city. From your point of view, how is the international traveler who visits Florence changing?

Definitely, the international traveler is becoming more demanding and increasingly looking for authentic experiences. We’re seeing a rise in visitors from emerging markets such as Asia and Latin America, alongside our more traditional guests from Europe and North America.

These are high-profile travelers who are not only interested in museums and iconic landmarks but want to live the city more deeply: exploring local artisans, lesser-known neighborhoods, cultural events, and food and wine experiences. Florence is already responding with a more diverse, sustainable, and contemporary offering – and we must keep moving in this direction.

Q. What initiatives is the city promoting to attract this kind of traveler, especially during the off-season?

The city is working to make Florence an all-year-round destination. In autumn and winter, we focus on promoting our rich cultural and culinary scene, along with events like exhibitions, festivals, and conferences.

With Destination Florence, we launch targeted campaigns to promote off-season travel and offer themed, authentic experiences for those who want to enjoy a calmer, more intimate side of Florence – a great way to travel to Florence in autumn or winter.

One project I’m particularly fond of is Art of Winter, part of Tuscany for Weddings, which aims to create a tailored offering for winter months. It’s a response to market demands and insights from the local tourism industry. We want to show that Florence off season is not only beautiful – it's magical. No crowds, a more intimate atmosphere, and plenty of opportunities to discover the city in a slower, more meaningful way.

Q. What are the prospects for luxury tourism in Florence in the coming years?

The outlook for luxury tourism in Florence is extremely promising. It’s a key pillar of our tourism strategy. Our goal isn’t just to increase visitor numbers, but to raise the overall quality of the travel experience.

Yes! I’ve been a couple of times and I really like it. It’s definitely something fresh and different in Florence. I even brought a friend there – and he had a great time (and he usually doesn’t dance…).

Giardino di Boboli: A Royal Escape Through Time

We sat down with him for an inside look at his journey—from childhood ambitions involving wrenches and pipes, to leading one of the most innovative, eclectic and maximalist five-star indipendent hotel.

Q. Every child has a dream job. What did you say when asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?”

“I used to say I wanted to be a plumber! My father is a plumber, and like many kids, I saw him as the perfect man. I admired the values he passed on to me—and I still do. I even worked with him briefly when I was very young, and honestly, those moments taught me a lot. They’ve been surprisingly useful, especially given the unpredictable nature of managing a hospitality space, where hands-on problem solving is often required.”

Q. Being the youngest General Manager in Italy is quite a milestone. Do you feel more pressure—or more freedom to bring something new to the table?

“Responsibility is part of the job. What matters is your ability to manage stress, stay focused, and rely on an excellent team. In a time of global change and growing digitalization, keeping people motivated and passionate about what they do is what really makes the difference. That kind of energy is contagious—and at House of Nine, we’ve seen it firsthand. We’ve built something meaningful in a very short time, and we know it’s just the beginning.”

Q. House of Nine doesn't fit the mold of a traditional five-star hotel. What makes you feel more “Nine” and less “classic luxury” in your role?

“House of Nine has become a way of being for all of us who work here. Our hospitality is elegant and professional, but also relaxed, human, and tailored. When guests walk through the door, they feel at home. And that’s exactly what makes us feel more ‘Nine’—it’s a break from the overly rigid five-star standards of the past. We’re redefining luxury through connection and authenticity.”

This breathtaking performance features Reunited in Dance, a company of Ukrainian and Russian dancers led by Xander Parish OBE, whose presence alone makes this night an unforgettable celebration of reconciliation through art.

On Saturday, June 14, the festival unfolds in two stunning acts. The morning begins with a refined chamber music matinée at Palazzo Corsini al Prato, where the Trio Mascarade, joined by acclaimed cellist Johan van Iersel, will enchant guests with a selection of romantic works. That evening, the rhythm shifts to jazz as the New York Jazz Sextet, led by Dominick Farinacci, brings The Birth of Swing to life. With music, storytelling, and tap dance, this tribute to Ellington, Armstrong, and Gershwin is a celebration of pure joy.

Finally, on Sunday, June 15, the festival concludes in the serene setting of Fiesole, with Flores Apparuerunt — a deeply moving choral recital held in the Convent of San Francesco. Guided by Mark Spyropoulos, and performed by Vox Medicea and the English Cornett and Sackbut Ensemble, this finale revives forgotten sacred works in a setting that invites reflection and wonder.

Q. What inspired you to create Dolce Club?

The city and its people, I wanted to create nights that bring together great people in the most exciting spots around Florence — cool people in cool places, simple as that. And that’s exactly what Dolce Club has become: a beacon of style, energy, and exclusivity in the heart of Florence.

Q. You’ve chosen some truly iconic venues — from Gucci Garden to Harry’s Bar. This edition is happening aboard House of Nine. What makes it special to you?

House of Nine has always been one of my favorite places in the city. I love spending time there with my friends, who are also members, but it’s more than just that — there’s always a great vibe. I really enjoy the band Daisy’s too. Everything about House of Nine feels different from anywhere else in Florence. It’s unique — the people, the music, the atmosphere — it all gives off a real ‘50s and ‘60s energy, and I love that.

Q. You’re a trained pilot — but have you ever captained a boat?

Yes, I’m a pilot, but I haven’t captained a boat myself. That said, I had the chance to experience it with my brother, who served as a Marine Captain in Türkiye — so I’ve seen it up close through him.

Q.You were among the first to experience Curiosity, the House of Nine yacht, before its official launch. What struck you most about that moment?

It was a great experience — it really felt like House of Nine on the water. I appreciated everything about the yacht: the comfort, the food, the service. But what stood out most was seeing Ginevra and Max’s touch in every detail. That’s what makes House of Nine what it is.

Q. Claudio, If you could sing anywhere in the world, where would you perform?
"At 3 Savile Row, London. Preferably on the rooftop — you know, like in that iconic music moment... Unless it’s raining, of course! Then I’d swap it for a cozy vintage club with dim lights and a whole lot of character."

Q. You’ll be performing at an ‘80s-‘90s themed night. If you had to name just one thing you miss most from that era, what would it be?
"Definitely that beautiful sense of unawareness people had back then. There was a raw, genuine lightness — a kind of innocent hope that wrapped around humanity. We dreamed bigger, maybe more recklessly, but with hearts wide open."

Q. Can you share a quirky item you always keep in your dressing room? A lucky charm? A special sock?
"Ahh... now that’s a secret I’ll never tell! Some backstage mysteries are best left in the shadows, don’t you think?

Q. Linda, if you could sing a duet with an icon from the '80s or '90s... who would you choose?

It would be such a surreal situation that I’d probably be speechless the entire time! But if I had to pick someone, I’d say either Freddie Mercury or Michael Jackson. As for Italian legends, there’s no doubt in my mind... MINA!

Q. If you could wear your dream stage outfit, with no limits on budget or taste… what would we see on stage? Sequins, lights, feathers?

Outfits have a strong communicative power, so my choice would definitely depend on what I’m singing! I love the idea of being able to play with different styles, so why not… Yes to sequins, lights, and feathers too!

Q. We won’t ask for your favorite song, but can you share one lyric that best captures how you see life?

Knowing myself, I’d probably change my answer all the time… But right now, what comes to mind is this line by Lucio Dalla:
"Where are your hands

Gabriel Omar Batistuta, affectionately known as Batigol and El Ángel Gabriel, is far more than a footballer. He is a symbol — of loyalty, power, and poetic precision. Universally regarded as one of the greatest strikers in the history of the game, Batistuta carved his legend not only with goals, but with unshakable character and grace.

In Florence, he is still revered as a hero. From 1991 to 2000, Batistuta wore the Fiorentina jersey with pride, scoring 207 goals in 333 appearances, many of which have become part of football folklore. His thunderous volley against Manchester United in the Champions League. The unforgettable long-range strike versus Arsenal at Wembley. And who could forget his breathtaking hat-trick against Milan — moments that electrified the city and bonded him to Florence forever.

Even when Fiorentina was relegated to Serie B in 1993, Batistuta stayed — a rare and profound act of loyalty in modern sport. His return to Serie A was marked with fury and fire, becoming Capocannoniere in the 1994–95 season with 26 goals, including a run of scoring in 11 consecutive matches — a Serie A record at the time.

For over 20 years, a massive crane has cast its metallic silhouette over the Uffizi Gallery — not exactly the kind of “art installation” Florence is known for.

Meant to assist with renovations in the early 2000s, the towering structure was supposed to be temporary. But as projects stalled and logistics became tangled in red tape, the crane remained. Year after year, it became part of the view — a strange, industrial addition to the city’s Renaissance skyline. Some locals even began affectionately (or ironically) referring to it as “la gru,” a symbol of unfinished business right in the heart of beauty.

Now, at long last, Florence is reclaiming its sky. Thanks to a collective effort from private supporters and cultural institutions, the crane is finally coming down — and House of Nine is proud to be among the sponsors helping to make it happen.

This isn’t just about removing a crane. It’s about restoring harmony to a space that belongs to centuries of art and architecture. It’s about seeing Florence the way it was meant to be seen — free from visual noise, open to the sky.

This is just one step in a larger journey. Every restored piazza, every reopened corridor, every crane that comes down — it’s all part of honoring the soul of Florence. The zone of Portoferraio, the Island’s capital, besides being one of the main arrival and mooring posts for Elba, also stands out for its own long history. The area is the most populated on the Island and holds some of the most precious treasures of Elban culture, which primarily refers to the Medici domination.

Portoferraio is dominated by the ancient fortress built by Medici, called Mura Medicee. You can visit the fortress enjoying quite a fascinating walk back to the Medieval age.

While in Portoferraio you can take a walk in the historical center and enjoy an aperitif at “La Tonnina”, boutique bar on the dock overlooking the sea or indulge in an ice cream at “Zero Gradi”.

From Portoferraio you can walk to Le Ghiaie, the local beach of white smooth pebbles. Le Ghiaie is the first of the many white beaches that follow one another upto the Enfola promontory Le Ghiaie, Cala dei Frati, Padulella, Capo Bianco, Sansone and that are surrounded by white cliffs.

The Enfola promontory is 6km away from Portoferraio. Capo d’Enfola is famous for its ancient tuna fishing port, where up till 1958 the tuna fished there was cut and prepared. Recently the building has been renovated and turned into the administrative seat of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park . You can also find a museum dedicated to the fotographs of the Tonnara ancient activity.

Enfola also hosts one of the best restaurants of the island “Emanuel” where you can taste real Elban fish recepies. Emanuel is a real island taverna.

Countless are the beaches of Elba, and here we will name just a few of them: Procchio, la Paolina, Spartaia, Pomonte, Sant’Andrea, and Chiessi, loved by surfers and Fetovaia, a little piece of heaven.

As mentioned before Elba island is also history, and a very important part of history; in fact, close to Portoferraio, in San Martino you can find one of the residences of Emperor Napoleon at the time he was exiled from France. The residence is open to the public and can be visited all year long.

Always a few stones away from Portoferraio you can find olive groves and vineyards at “La Chiusa” estate, open all year long. The estate overlooks the gulf of Portoferraio and takes its name from the walls which enclose 20 hectares of land. The main business is the production and retail sale of Elba traditional wines (red, white, rosé and Aleatico) and cold-extra virgin olive oil. Its origins can be traced back to the late 16th century, when the cellars and the old hamlet were built.

Elba is trekking in the nature, hiking in the mountains and birdwatching. There you can find Monte Capanne, 1019 mt high that can be reached either by numerous trails or by a two seat cable car that departs from Marciana.

From the summit of Monte Capanne, on a particularly clear day, not only can you admire a unique panorama, but you can also stretch your gaze to the distant islands of the archipelago: Pianosa, Capraia, Montecristo, Gorgona, and even Corsica.

Elba is fishermen and hunters villages,, is medieval villages and minerals. The iron deposits of Monte Calamita brings back to ancient times when the island was an important crossroad of the iron trades. The Minerological Museum is one of the best known in Europe.

Capoliveri, a hill perched small town, is characterized by a very particular architecture, with its narrow and picturesque arched alleys called "chiassi", which hide small artisan shops and cozy places where you can taste a typical dish or a good glass of wine.

Porto Azzurro , where still today we can see the signs of Spanish rule (17th Century) in the Fort of San Giacomo. Not to be missed : the harbor, the piazza surrounded by shops and restaurants, and the Baroque Church of San Giacomo Apostolo. Opposite this small piazza is a panoramic view of Barbarossa Beach, a haven for divers.

If my bar were a movie, it would be Cocktail. Because, just like the film, our bar is full of energy, passion, and the desire to create something exciting and memorable. Cocktail is a classic that perfectly represents the art of making something special, just like we do at The Orientalist. The movie has that perfect balance of flair, creativity, and showmanship behind the bar, which is what we aim to deliver. And of course, Tom Cruise's character embodies the spirit of youth, ambition, and the pursuit of excellence—traits that resonate with the vibe we create here. He starts off with raw energy, but like any great bartender, he learns that the key is not just in the tricks, but in connecting with people and understanding what they truly want. That’s the heart of hospitality, and it’s what we strive for every day at The Orientalist.

RAFFAELE ORLANDO -  ROSEWOOD:

If my bar were a movie, it would definitely be The Prestige. Not only for its impeccable direction, but because behind every cocktail there’s a structure, a rhythm, and a hidden trick. Like in a film, each drink has three acts: the promise (the idea), the twist (the unexpected ingredient), and the prestige (that moment when the customer’s eyes light up). The bar is like a small stage where a different show is performed every night, with the audience and actors changing, but the magic remains. Theater taught me the value of time, silence, and interpretation, while Nolan’s films made me appreciate complex structures and surprises that come at the end. A well-functioning bar, like a film, bends time, transforms people, and creates small masterpieces every night.

PIETRO LOREFICE - PALAZZO EXPERIMENTAL:

If the bar were a movie, given the aesthetics of 'Palazzo Experimental,' it would definitely be set in The Grand Budapest Hotel. The direction would be by Christopher Nolan, with us lost in his space-time delusions. The screenplay (which wouldn’t be original, or else we'd be asking for the rights, haha) would be written by David Lynch; I don’t know if you're ready for this journey into our minds. To top it off, Wes Anderson would step behind the bar to adjust our posture to improve the shot. The soundtrack for the entire film would be All’una e trentacinque circa by Vinicio Capossela.

ANDREA POMO - BRAND AMBASSADOR SANTA TERESA

Rather than a movie, I imagine my bar more like a TV series, filled with suspense and constant plot twists, much like Lost. For me, a bar is all about people—people with important and unique stories who, whether they realize it or not, will eventually become connected with others in some way. I love my job, I love hospitality, and everything that happens in Lost—both the positive and the negative—represents life itself.
