A share index of the 100 companies listed on the London Stock Exchange with the highest market capitalization, known as the Financial Times Stock Exchange 100 Index, or Footsie.

What are the criteria used to determine if a company should be included in the FTSE 100 Index?

In order to be considered for the FTSE 100 Companies, a company must meet certain criteria. The company must be listed on the London Stock Exchange, and must meet the minimum liquidity requirements of the index.

The company would also need to be among the top 100 companies on the London Stock Exchange in terms of market capitalization. The market capitalization of a company is calculated by multiplying its share price by its outstanding shares.

FTSE 100 companies are viewed as 'large cap' companies.

When companies promote or demote in FTSE 100 Index ?

As market cap changes over time, so does the composition of the Footsie, as market cap changes over time. An index undergoes a quarterly review, just like a team in the Premier League would be promoted or relegated according to its performance.

It is taking place between the FTSE 100 and the FTSE 250, a grouping on the London Stock Exchange of the next 250 largest companies by market capitalization below the FTSE 100.

Companies can be demoted only if their market capitalization falls below 110, not 100. Similarly, FTSE 250 companies need to be ranked 90 or higher to be promoted to FTSE 100 Index. In order to avoid excessive turnover at the bottom of the index, a buffer zone has been established.

How much is FTSE 100 share price for one stock?

The FTSE 100 doesn't have a 'share price' in currency. Points are measured by the overall performance of its components. As an example, you might say that a certain amount of points have risen or fallen on the Footsie in a given period of time.

As a matter of fact, it is also important to remember that at any given time in the future the FTSE 100's value will not represent the total share price of all its components put together.

The Republican Party punished Liz Cheney in the staunchly conservative western state of Wyoming for being one of the most prominent critics of the former president in Congress with a primary election that featured a candidate backed by Donald Trump.

Her father was former vice-president Dick Cheney, and she represents Wyoming in the House. While she was facing an uphill battle to win re-election, she defied the former president and Republican political leaders by voting to impeach Trump.

The former vice president said after her loss that she could have won the primary, but would have had to embrace Trump's conspiracy theories. “Our republic relies upon the good will of all candidates for office to accept the outcome of elections,” she said.

Her party has a history of losing congressional races before winning the presidency, as Lincoln had done. She denounced "major elements" of her party for supporting the January 6 rioters and attacking false allegations about Trump's home search. “Poisonous lies destroy free nations,” she said. “Freedom must not, cannot and will not die here.”

Alaska and Wyoming held their primaries on Tuesday, the last before November's midterm elections. They test Trump's grip on Republican voters after the FBI searched his Mar-a-Lago estate and began investigating his handling of classified national security documents.

Republican primary races have been difficult for candidates openly critical of Trump. The three candidates voted to impeach Trump over his conduct on January 6 have lost their seats to candidates endorsed by the former president. Only two of those who voted to impeach Trump survived the primaries.

The energy bills of UK households are likely to surpass £3,600 annually later this year, and may continue to rise until at least 2024.

The research firm Cornwall Insight has raised its estimate of an energy price cap increase of £3,363 a year to £3,615 a year in January. In the energy industry, the energy price cap is the maximum amount a supplier can charge its customers on a quarterly basis. It is established by the industry regulator, Ofgem. The new estimate is significantly higher than the £1,400 per year estimated in October of last year. The research firm has also predicted that energy bills will reach £3,700 in the second quarter of 2023 before falling back to £3,470 in the third quarter.
