Farmer and Landowner Workshop: Working Lands for Wildlife

Tuesday, July 16th
6:00-9:00 pm
Cedar Rose Vineyard, 431 Kenyon Avenue, Millville NJ

Private landowners and farmers interested in creating and conserving wildlife habitat throughout Southern New Jersey are invited to attend.

Farm Bill programs provide technical and financial assistance to landowners to conserve working landscapes for the benefit of at-risk species including American black duck, Northern bobwhite quail, bog turtles, and many others.

Partners of the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will provide updates on imperiled species and describe how habitat enhancement on private lands supports them.

Representatives from New Jersey Audubon, NRCS, Quail Forever, New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife, and US Fish and Wildlife Service will present programs available to help landowners meet their goals for wildlife conservation.

Many programs provide producers with incentive payments for the protection of pollinators, songbirds and non-game species on working lands. Applications will be available on site.

Enjoy an evening mingling with like-minded individuals and professionals in the field. Light fare will be provided, and a wine cash bar will be available throughout the evening on the lawn of Cedar Rose Vineyards. We hope to see you there!

Inside you’ll find a thorough overview of plant nutrition and water quality.

Originally associated with floriculture crops and “out-of-season” vegetable production, greenhouse production has experienced a recent sea change: new marketing trends, organic production, improved and more efficient production technologies, and the introduction of new laws and regulations related to environmental sustainability and food safety. To be successful, professional growers need to be equipped with a comprehensive understanding of greenhouse management today.

This publication provides solid information on all aspects of greenhouse production. Written by industry-based professionals and academics, its seventeen chapters demonstrate how water, root media, and fertilizer are integrated to optimize plant health, production efficiency, and the sustainability of resources and the environment.

Contents:

1. Integrating Irrigation, Root Media, Fertilization, and Environmental Factors in Greenhouse Production
2. Water, Irrigation Systems, and Their Control
3. Water Quality and Correction
4. The Use of Reclaimed Water in Greenhouse Crops
5. Root Media for Greenhouse Crops
6. Wetting Agents in Root Media
7. Root Media: Testing and Interpretation
8. Formulating Fertilization Programs
9. Root Media pH
10.
