On this episode of Additive Insight, TCT Head of Content Laura Griffiths is joined by Tali Rosman, Xerox Vice President and General Manager for 3D Printing.

The well-known 2D print giant made its play for the additive manufacturing market back in 2019 with the acquisition of start-up Vader Systems and its Liquid Metal 3D printing technology. Since then, Xerox has gone on to introduce its first metal system, the Xerox ElemX, and recently announced the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) as its first installation.

We spoke to Rosman about Xerox’s history with 3D printing, which began long before that 2019 acquisition, Xerox’s commitment to being its own first customer with its AM products, and the company’s pragmatic approach to ensuring additive can be easily integrated into existing workflows and supply chains.

Commenting on those workflows, Rosman said: “I think we’re humble enough to understand that the vast majority of parts are not going to be made with 3D printing so we have to integrate into existing workflows and we have the obligation to make it easy for the customer to integrate it into their existing systems – that’s absolutely top of mind for us.”

We’re continuing our executive interview series into 2021 with insights from Andreas Langfeld, President EMEA at Stratasys, who joins us on the Additive Insight podcast to discuss the last 12 months, future plans and that $100 million Origin acquisition.

Our final inductee to the TCT Hall of Fame for 2018, is a man that many feel should have made the cut last year. Fortunately, those protestors got their act together and voted for Dr Carl Deckard, inventor of Selective Laser Sintering, in their droves.

After being inspired by a visit to the Henry Ford Museum as a child Carl dreamed of becoming an inventor. Whilst working at an iron-based machine shop, TRW Mission, Carl had his Eureka moment.

Dr Deckard reminisces about those good times and some challenging times in this refreshingly open interview.

After the inventor of binder-jet printing, Professor Ely Sachs became the first inductee into the TCT Hall of Fame in 2018, our next inductee is much more famed for his applications over inventions.

Greg Morris established Morris Technologies in 1994, it became one of the leading providers of specialist AM services in the US before being bought, along with sister company Rapid Quality Manufacturing, by GE Aviation in 2012. Greg’s work in developing metal AM processes and applications has driven the adoption of these technologies and his involvement in the speaking circuit, SME’s RTAM Steering Committee and positions at educational and research organisations have distributed this knowledge industry-wide.

In this interview Greg talks to us about his career and how that GE collaboration came about.

We saw this in the recent partnership between Stratasys and Siemens on the huge Robotic Composite 3D Demonstrator which combines Stratasys’ additive manufacturing knowledge and Siemens’s manufacturing software expertise to build a machine that can produce large complex composite parts at rapid speeds.

In this keynote talk recorded live at formnext powered by tct in Frankfurt earlier this month, Mohammad Ehteshami, Vice President at GE Additive, discusses the company’s grand vision for 3D printing as it aims to produce a 10,000 machines over the next 10 years for customers around the world.

TCT Podcast Episode 6 – The day two keynote at this year’s TCT Show Conference came from a true stalwart of the additive manufacturing industry and one of only a few reoccurring speakers in the TCT Show conference calendar – it is of course Todd Grimm. Todd has held positions at some of the additive industry’s biggest names and as well as being a fountain of 3D printing knowledge is currently the AM industry advisor with the Additive Manufacturing Users Group.

In this keynote talk, Todd presents “Justification in an Age of False Enlightenment” – which addresses the fact that the AM revolution is not as imminent as once thought and disillusionment has started to set in. The solution? To build a practical, defensible case for additive that under promises and over delivers.

TCT Podcast Episode 5 – The second keynote at this year’s TCT Show Conference came form David Burns, a longstanding figure in the additive manufacturing community and someone who has spent his entire career in the wider manufacturing industry.
