SETUP HANDWRITING INPUT IN GMAIL

With Google Input Tools, it is quite easier to type in other languages like Hindi or Chinese. You can type with transliteration, Input Method Editors (IMEs), or virtual keyboard, depending on the language you’d like to type in.

Whether you’re a student trying to include a foreign phrase in your paper or an international consultant hoping to begin your message with a friendly local greeting, now you’ll be able to use your own handwriting to input words directly into Gmail and Google Docs with your mouse or trackpad. Google Input Tools allows you to write single or even multiple characters at once in the panel to see them show up in your message or document. Currently, handwriting input is available in Google Docs for over 20 languages and in Gmail for over 50 languages, including Chinese, Japanese, Hindi and Russian. To try it, follow the steps below:

1) Click the gear in the top right.
2) Select Settings.
3) In the General tab, select the checkbox next to “Enable input tools” under the “Language” section. (If you don’t see Enable Input Tools, you may need to click on the Show advanced options link next to “Display Language” menu.)
4) In the “Input Tools settings" window that appears, double-click the input tool you'd like from the "All input tools" field, and it'll move to the "Selected input tools" field. You can also select the input tool and use the grey arrows to move them between the two fields. Reorder your input tools by selecting anye input tool and clicking the up and down arrows.
5) Click Ok, then Save Changes at the bottom of the Gmail settings page.

Once you’ve enabled an Input Tool, you'll see an option to toggle it on or off next to the gear icon in the upper right corner. To turn the Input Tool on or off, click the button. If you've enabled multiple input tools, you can click the down-arrow menu to switch between them.
