Detroit City Councilman James Tate has a plan to get more people in his district (District 1) vaccinated by giving them the facts, quell their fears and help get them back to living a normal life in Detroit.

On May 26, he will host a Zoom and Facebook Live meeting to share the facts about the vaccine.

There will be fireworks this year. Like last year you will only be able to see the display on WDIV Local 4.

In another change the fireworks won’t be shot off at the traditional location in downtown Detroit. The Parade Company has partnered with Huron-Clinton Metroparks at the Lake St. Clair Metropark location for this year’s broadcast-only Ford Fireworks show. The park will not be open to the public on June 28.

By next fall you should be able to take the Riverwalk from the Joe Lewis Arena to Belle Isle.

The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy and its partners just broke ground for the Riverwalk extension along the Uniroyal site. It will complete the Conservancy’s vision of 3.5 miles of Riverwalk along the East Riverfront and connect the riverfront parks and Belle Isle.

The project is slated to be an $11 million investment and anticipated to be completed by fall of 2022.
