After ordering, log in to the Client Area, click Services, and open your active Custom Domain Email Hosting service.

You’ll be prompted to verify your domain ownership by adding a DNS record:

Migrating from Thexyz Classic Email (Custom Domain)

If you currently use Thexyz Classic Email with your own domain and would like to upgrade:

1. Order the new Thexyz Email service

2. Create your mailbox(es)

3. Open a support ticket requesting a migration

We’re making an update to domain pricing to reflect increases set by domain registries and the growing cost of operating secure, reliable domain infrastructure.

Most domain prices are determined by the registry that operates each TLD (such as .com, .ca, .io, and hundreds of others). Over time, many registries have raised wholesale rates or adjusted their pricing models, especially for newer and specialty TLDs. As a registrar, we pass those costs through transparently rather than offsetting them with short-term promotions or renewal surprises.

What this means for you

• Updated pricing will apply to new registrations and renewals
• Many core domains remain unchanged or only slightly adjusted
• Specialty and premium TLDs may see larger changes due to registry pricing
• No hidden fees or teaser pricing — renewals are shown upfront

One-Click Unsubscribe Requirement As of February 1, 2024, if you're sending over 5,000 emails daily to Gmail or Yahoo accounts, it's now mandatory to include both the List-Unsubscribe and List-Unsubscribe-Post: List-Unsubscribe=One-Click headers in your emails. GroupList has supported List-Unsubscribe for several years and now adds List-Unsubscribe-Post: List-Unsubscribe=One-Click to comply with new requirements from Google and Yahoo.

Mandatory Email Authentication The practice of authenticating your sending domain with DKIM, SPF, and DMARC has shifted from a recommendation to a requirement. Using Amazon SES for email dispatch, GroupList users must ensure these authentication methods are correctly configured for their domains.

Spam Rate Management Keep your spam complaint rate below 0.3% to maintain high deliverability. Since Gmail does not share spam rate data with ESPs, you can monitor your performance by registering your domain with Google's Postmaster Tools.

Verisign, the registry for .COM domains will be increasing prices for the domain this September for the second year in a row. This price increase applies to new .COM domain registrations, renewals, and transfers to all registrars. This year marks the second price increase under the current contract, so it’s likely you can expect prices to rise again in 2023 and 2024, and from 2026 to 2029. In 2020 we published a blog article about the .COM price caps being removed. 

This means that now is the best time to lock-in your price for your .COM domain if you haven’t already. If you own a .COM domain, renewing now will secure your site for years to come without the added cost. You can quickly renew your .COM domain in the control panel of your account or buys a new .COM domain by searching domain availability.

Thexyz Webmaill has been with us for many years and to encourage future development and talent, we are adopting an approach to incorporate open-source software over closed-source and proprietary projects. This means that we will no longer be offering our MobileSync service built on Microsoft ActiveSync. Instead, we will adopt open standards such as CalDav and CardDav to allow for greater flexibility and community-driven development. This upgrade will take Thexyz email further toward a collaboration and communications platform, including secure email, powerful calendars, contact management, cloud storage, and online office features.

Will Thexyz Email cost change after the migration?

No, the price you pay will remain the same and you will continue to receive the same service and support you receive today.

Do I need to change my domain's DNS settings?

No, the settings for MX,SPF, and DKIM will remain the same.

Do I need to change the IMAP, POP, or SMTP server or port settings?

No, the settings will remain the same.

Will the URL I use to access Thexyz Email change?

No, the URL will not change.

Will Thexyz Email and Hosted Exchange on the same domain work after the migration?

Yes, hybrid domains will still work after the migration.

Will Hosted Exchange mailboxes be migrating?

No, Hosted Exchange mailboxes will not migrate and will remain on Exchange.

Will aliases (of accounts and domains), group lists be migrated?

Yes, both email aliases and group lists will be migrated and will continue to work as they do today.

What about Thexyz Cloud Drive?

Thexyz Cloud Drive will continue to exist, and your files will be migrated with your mailbox.

Will the contact books that users created in webmail be migrated?

Yes, these will be migrated over to the new environment. 

Will the mailbox size change?

No, the mailbox size will remain 25 GB.

Will the "Disclaimers" feature still be active?

Yes, "Disclaimers" will not change.

Will there be a change in mailbox passwords?

No, the passwords will not change.

Will the Thexyz Email API’s change?

No, the API’s will not change.

Which features are changing?

• The maximum forward address limit will change to 4 (Currently 15)
• We will implement a new global setting for the spam and trash folders.
• MobileSync (ActiveSync) will be replaced by support for open standards (Caldav/Carddav)

Which features are being removed?

Split domain routing (SDR)

Starting July 2022, new configurations will not be available. If SDR is configured for a domain, it will remain until you disable it, or we start migrating Thexyz Mailboxes. SDR will be removed for all domains when we start migrating Thexyz Email users.

Domain catch-all

Starting June 2022, new configurations will not be available. If a catch-all is configured for a domain, it will remain until you disable it, or we start migrating Thexyz Webmail users. Catch-all will be removed for all domains when we start migrating Thexyz Webmail users.

Webmail identities

Starting June 2022, new configurations will not be available. If an identity is configured it will remain we start migrating Thexyz Webmail users.

BCC archiving

As announced previously new configurations are no longer available. If BCC is configured for a domain, it will remain until you disable it, or we start migrating Thexyz Webmail users as per the timeline below. As an alternative for BCC archiving you can use Thexyz Email Archiving. BCC will be removed for all domains when we start migrating Thexyz Webmail users.

Admin Reply/Forward Control

Starting June 2022, Administrators will no longer have access to configure Out of Office auto-reply or mail forwarding via the Control Panel. 

Spam Settings

Starting June 2022, Administrators will no longer be able to set spam settings. The new spam delivery behavior will deliver spam messages to the recipient’s spam/junk folder. This specific change applies to both Thexyz Email and Hosted Exchange. To gain additional control over spam behavior, administrations can upgrade a domain to our spam filtering add-on.

Allow/Block Lists

Originally we planned on removing the Administrators ability to configure the domain level allow/blocklist via the Control Panel. We took your feedback into consideration and found a way to keep this feature.

Starting July 2022, Administrators will no longer have access to configure allow/blocklist behavior at a domain level via the Control Panel or API. This specific change applies to both Thexyz Email and Hosted Exchange. The domain level safelist and blocklist (Except IP’s) will be added to each mailbox on the domain.

The new configuration will have a default limit of 250 entries for each mailbox independently. If the list is larger than 250 entries when the mailbox is migrated it will be truncated so it does not exceed the limit.

• The ability to configure allow/blocklist behavior at a mailbox level via the Control Panel will be retained.
• Limits of 250 entries will be applied to the Allow list and the Blocklist independently.
• IP addresses or ranges will no longer be a valid list entry on the Allow list or Blocklist.
• Administrators are advised to upgrade domains to our spam filtering add-on.

What is the timeline for this platform upgrade?

• May - August 2022: Preparing to migrate mailboxes.
• April - September 2022: Update the Thexyz Email feature set to ensure compatibility with our upcoming platform change.
• October 2022 through March 2024: Migrate all mailboxes to the new environment.

Custom Domain Spam Filtering Changes

As for custom domains, users are recommended to upgrade to N-Able Spam Experts filtering as we have recently implemented for Thexyz domains. 

In July 2022 the following features will be removed from Thexyz Email Admin Control Panel. 

• Administrators will no longer be able to set spam settings.
• Administrators will no longer have access to configure allow/blocklist behavior at a domain level.
• New spam delivery behavior will deliver spam messages to the recipient’s spam/junk folder.
• This specific change applies to both Thexyz Webmail and Hosted Exchange.
• New blocklist and safelist behavior will be managed through Webmail and limited to 250 entries. 
• Limits of 250 entries will be applied to the Allow list and the Blocklist independently.
• IP addresses or ranges will no longer be a valid list entry on the Allow list or Blocklist.

If you wish to retain the configurable, domain-wide spam filtering features, it is recommended to upgrade to N-Able Spam Experts filtering for your domain. 

We encourage people to make use of our Email Archiving add-on as a replacement. 

The SiteLock VPN products will no longer be available to buy or renew as of May 31st, 2022. Existing subscriptions activated or renewed prior to this date will remain active and available to use for the remainder of their subscription term.

At Thexyz, we are actively working to find a replacement VPN service provider which can be made available and will follow up with further details if a viable alternative can be found.

All servers were scanned for the presence of the culprit library and it was not used in any of our servers. 

As of today, December 17th, Thexyz can confirm that all systems are appropriately protected and that there are no indications of compromise.

There is no action required on your part, but we wanted to keep you informed.

Late yesterday evening the distributed attacks continued at a large scale and we were forced to null route many IPs. These attacks are very well distributed so we aren't seeing anyone IP range that is to blame here.  Although they are currently mitigated effectively, we would like to inform you, as a precaution, these restrictions could be imposed again and network delays or disruptions could also be possible. We have also increased our existing DDoS protections and continue to optimize our infrastructure here.

We would like to remind you that there is no security risk with DDoS attacks, these attacks occur when internet service providers are targeted and overloaded with connection requests by cybercriminals. This causes disruption as customers are temporarily unable to access web services. Data is not attacked during DDoS attacks. With the help of DDoS mitigation measures, this flood of traffic can be effectively mitigated and contained. However, the speed at which this can be accomplished depends on the size of the attack. At its peak, the recent flood of traffic was totaling a 256Gpbs DDoS attack.

Recently Thexyz Support Team received extortion notice and demand for Bitcoin to avoid a DDoS. We have received these extortion attempts in the past and will not pay the ransom demanded. Organizations must not give in to extortion by criminals under any circumstances.

As an email provider, we take our responsibility towards reliability and security very seriously. If Thexyz Webmail should suddenly become slower or be temporarily unavailable over the few next days, please follow the below tips:

• Remember there is no cause for concern, the disruption is just temporary and email service should not be affected.
• If you experience any issue accessing Thexyz Webmail, please wait or try opening one of our alternative Webmail Sites.
• Visit us on Twitter @thexyz or our network status page to stay informed of any network disruptions.
• Set up your email on a mobile device or email client so you can continue to access email if Webmail becomes temporarily unavailable. 

In April 2021, issuing banks in India began taking steps to block transactions that don’t comply with the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) directive on the processing recurring transactions. This regulation affects all customers paying for email services, domains, and hosting with credit and debit cards that are based in India.

As we approach the September 30th, 2021, deadline, our developers and our payment processing partners (Stripe/Square) are working on solutions to help meet these new requirements. We are working to release a new set of AFA compliant APIs to integrate with later this year.

In the meantime, here are some solutions to implement in the meantime to avoid your services becoming suspended.

• Make a one-time payment by paying all invoices manually. 
• Make a payment with Bitcoin or other cyrpto-currencies.
• Contact us to set up a PayPal subscription payment.
• Contact us to make a one-time balance payment to have a credits within our system.

Prior to June 8th, you should review your spam and trash folder cleanup settings. If they are higher than the new limits (spam: 14 days, trash: 30 days) then the mailbox owner will need to review the mail in those folders and move anything worth keeping into another folder. You can view the spam and trash limits for each mailbox by logging into https://admin.thexyz.com and navigating to mailboxes > manage > settings.

This is a big shift that is expected to benefit many of our customers. It's perfect for Managed Service Providers, Web Designers, Developers, Consultants... basically anyone who needs to work with multiple businesses or organizations using Thexyz. 

How it works

So, if a web developer, Cassie, has multiple websites she develops for multiple customers, she can log in as a single user to manage each of the associated accounts. Cassie only needs one set of credentials and one email address to access every account she owns. Her customers can still view their own information without seeing the other accounts.

It's a flexible, powerful way to manage users and their accounts in Thexyz Client Area.

Inviting users

Cassie wants access to everything through one set of credentials, so that means invitations need to be sent from each account to the email address for her user. If this doesn't happen, she will still need to use two sets of credentials, since the accounts aren't associated yet.

Please refer to the guide for inviting a new user. 

The users that were formerly Sub-Accounts will remain, too, until someone removes them. Functionally, this means Cassie has three users she can log in to, but she only needs to use the newest user with access to both accounts.

Sending those invitations is easy to do: account owners can invite new users anytime. Whenever you send an invitation, the invitee will get an email. They just click on the link in the email and log in as an existing user or create a new one.

Why are we terminating support for PayPal?

We will no longer accept PayPal due to their latest Policy Update, in particular to their privacy updates, and newly implemented fees across the board for buyers.  We strongly recommend reading PayPal's new update to fully understand the information the service will be collecting starting as soon as later this month. PayPal has been unfriendly to merchants for quite some time and does not share our values of internet privacy and security. These latest changes make the service in our opinion unfavorable to our customers as well. 

Will Thexyz accept PayPal in the future?

Only if PayPal reverses some of their recent decisions. Thexyz is always open to considering payment methods that are fair to both us and our customers. We are also keen to work with organizations that help ensure the web is a safe place to do business. 

Will my service be interrupted if I pay with PayPal?

If you currently use PayPal for your subscription payment, you will need to update your payment method on file to avoid possible service suspension. Please review, how to add a payment method to add a credit card or other payment to ensure your service remains active. 

Reducing payment processor fees for merchants

We will continue to offer PayPal for merchants through our Weebly offering although the fees will be the highest in the industry. 

To save between 3% to 5% on every transaction we recommend signing up with Square for credit card transactions, BitPay for cryptocurrencies, and GoCardless for bank transfers. 

• MFA is configured at the domain level.
• Will have three configuration settings (disabled, optional, required).
• It will support both SMS and TOTP.
• MFA can remember user devices so you don’t need to use MFA on every login.
• Password recovery has been updated to offer:
  • Support for both SMS and TOTP.
  • Integration with MFA when it’s enabled. Therefore, they will both use the same authentication method.

That means, starting on that date, all new .biz, .org and .info domains, renewals, and transfers will cost more.

This price increase is not limited to any particular registrars, but impacts all domain name registrars that sell ..biz, .org and .info domains. In these instances, Thexyz simply passes on the price increase, though we are sensitive to the negative impact this may have on your domain name budget. For more information, please see the recent blog post on the removal of domain price caps.

New prices for renewals, transfers and new registrations in USD

If you already have one of these domains, we would encourage you to renew it before July 19th for the maximum feasible period (there is a ten year maximum) so that you would pay less for the renewal.

Now is also the time to buy one of these domains if you are on the market for one, while the prices are still low.

Because many new core improvements fuel the upgrade, there are a few changes to your searches.

The updated Archive Dashboard provides quick and valuable insight into the health and activity of your archive.

Adding archive users

The new portal takes a more direct approach to creating a new user to manage your archive. With this approach, the user’s role is now selected based on company needs instead of clicking a separate section to accomplish the same end goal.

Save as new search

This update allows you to take an existing search and duplicate it as a new search. This saves time and effort by not having to start from scratch for each new search.

Improved search result review

The look and feel of the search results review, including viewing specific messages, is greatly improved. By having a more “mail client feel,” navigating through the search results is more intuitive.

Improved exports

Better filtering to limit size, export formats, and notifications provides a better experience, especially on larger exports.

Migration notes

The migration that accompanies this upgrade is automatic. You see one distinct difference. Any saved searches are migrated to the new archive portal as read- only, meaning you cannot edit or update the details of the search.

Because administrators and users are re-created as part of the upgrade/ migration, the ownership of the migrated searches is not preserved. For these migrated searches, the new owner displays as “migrated search (unknown user).”

In early 2019 the Email Administrators Control Panel introduced an improved Multi-Factor Authentication experience.  It’s easier than ever to set up MFA on your and your administrator login and doing so will greatly reduce the chance of compromise.  If you do not want to enter a code on every login, you can remember your device, and you won't even know the extra layer of protection is there. We take protecting our platform and your email accounts very seriously.

• To allow customers to add multiple credit cards to their account
• To provide better support for tokenisation gateways
• To increase security with the highest level of PCI compliance
• To allow customers to checkout faster

In addition to the above, we've done a lot of work to improve the user experience  for checkout and payment completion, including:

• Simplified payment fields - card type is now automatically detected and expiry dates support keyboard input with automatic formatting
• Improved support for tokenisation gateways - enabling use of multiple token gateways concurrently and improved syncronization of token data
• Better contact management - now users can select any saved contact when adding or updating a saved payment method
• Support for bank accounts - users can now save bank accounts for use with ACH and Direct Debit payment gateways
• Support for Bitcoin - users can now make one-time purchases with Bitcoin. 

Multiple Pay Methods

The multiple pay methods functionality allows you to have more than one credit card or bank account saved and available to use during checkout. Each pay method also allows customers to set a description that helps you identify it. 

This new functionality enables customers to:

• Add multiple credit cards and bank accounts to their client profile
• Give each saved card a description to allow for easier recognition and identification
• Use any of their saved pay methods when checking out or paying an invoice
• Edit/update/delete a saved payment method at any time
• Set a default payment method to be used for automated recurring billing

We hope you will find that the added flexibility for multiple pay methods along with the usability improvements make a real difference to your day to day use of Thexyz. If you have any questions or comments, I invite you to ask them in the comments below.

First, we are introducing the concept of a "Suspicious" email. It's based on specific patterns of failure in SPF, DKIM, and DMARC validation, but do not trigger a policy failure. Messages deemed suspicious are decorated with a warning in the message preview and pop-out window. If the Suspicious designation is due to a configuration problem with the sender, but the sender is legitimate, users can choose to trust the sender and suppress future warnings.

Suppressing interactions with suspicious emails

Second, we've added functionality to protect users from accidentally triggering malicious content from messages in the spam folder. They can view the basic content, but images, links, and attachments are not accessible while the message is in the spam folder. This forces users to drag the message out of the spam folder to interact with it. It re-enforces the stance that messages in the Spam folder are potentially dangerous, and care should be taken interacting with them.

If you need to interact with links or images in a email, you will have to mark it as Not Spam or drag the email into the inbox or another folder.

Spoof email detection warnings

Finally, we're making some updates to how we display sender discrepancy information. A common sign of phishing/spoofing messages is when the Friendly From email address (what users see as the message sender) does not match the Return-Path address (where the message came from). We've added information to the "From" field that shows when the primary domains of these two sender addresses do not match. Also, to help end users, we added a mouse-over help bubble to explain what "sent from" means.

While we expect the overall satisfaction with spam filtering to improve, we also expect users to notice some changes in how we are filtering mail. As a result, there may be an uptick in requests about why messages they used to see going to their Inbox now go to Spam, or vice versa. Your Support team will be ready to help field any of these requests and provide you with helpful information to explain any behavior changes.

We will be working diligently throughout this entire process to tune and train the new spam filtering components to ensure the fewest false positives as possible. We've already been through an extensive ramp-up period with the new improvements, and we are eager for our customers to realize the expected benefits.

• If a user receives more than approximately 200 messages within a period of several minutes, any additional emails will then be held for several minutes to avoid flooding the mailbox.
• This new protection will only apply to new mail from the internet, not mail from within the same domain/company.
