Hello blog friends!
It's true, I have been pretty quiet for a mighty long time, but not as silent as you may think! I have revived the whole .tiff ethos over on my (kinda) new tumblr blog, appropriately url-ed at dottiff.tumblr.com.
After taking a year long break from everything, major social networks and blogging included, I wasn't sure if I'd have enough gusto to go back to blogging. Turns out I still love the web as much as I did before, so I'll be updating as regular as I can! Y'all update your feeds and come back now!
Right now I'm still drawing as much as I possibly can, which is pretty fun. I'm inventing small projects for my own amusement, which have ranged everywhere from portraits of beautiful Six Apart colleagues, to Kate Bush fan art, to these illustrated game covers.
Based off game titles listed in this Game Dev Story post, I drew the game covers for a handful of the "Game Kid" games I developed. My favorites of the ten are Silent Nose and Ghostly Nips, and given the chance I think I'd definitely have a try at Hall of Oats, the Hall & Oates musical adventure RPG. Guess I just have to work harder at owning a game publishing company. See an additional three illustrated game covers here.
As for the other drawings I've been working on, they're all a random range of people and things and Christmas dogs. In an attempt to separate this blog and my tumblr blog from being flooded with me me me, I've created PANCAKE AMERICAN to showcase all of my recent works, if you're interested, as well as a Cargo portfolio. Enjoy! Now, back to drawing some more.
I'm finally starting to warm up to my tablet, after years of neglect! Though I still haven't quite adjusted to creating line-work (I'm still scanning hand-drawn works) I've started to color some drawings here and there to practice developing color palettes and digital painting. It's been fun!
These works aren't for anything in particular, but I hope you like them. In the case of the two scenic drawings, I tried to think of visual scenes I would love to encounter during a game of some sort. As for the Naked Fruit Dance, well, I was naked and I wanted fruit and that was that.
I'll post more when they're finished!

Portland's Ground Kontrol has a terrific looking show up until the end of the month called 8-bit Calavera. The show features a series of 40 artists who honor Dia De Los Muertos with individually painted NES Cartridges. Some of the paintings speak to the games themselves, like this Dr. Mario painting by Glen Brogan, while others keep to the traditional style of Dia De Los Muertos folk art. Wish I could see this in person! Thanks to Ginevra for the tip!
