رات کے 2:40 بجے کا وقت تھا، کراچی کے آسمان پر ایک عجیب سی روشنی نے شہر کو اپنی چمک سے منور کر دیا۔ یہ کوئی معمولی روشنی نہیں تھی، بلکہ ایسا لگ رہا تھا جیسے کوئی کائناتی راز ہمارے اوپر آ کر ٹک گیا ہو۔ نیلے اور سفید رنگ کی ایک روشن کرن آسمان سے نیچے اُتر رہی تھی، اور پورا شہر اس پراسرار روشنی میں ڈوب چکا تھا۔

لوگ خوف اور حیرت کے ساتھ باہر نکل کر اس منظر کا مشاہدہ کر رہے تھے۔ کچھ لوگ ملبے کی چھتوں پر کھڑے ہو گئے تھے، اور کچھ سڑکوں پر رک کر گہری نظریں اس اجنبی روشنی پر مرکوز کیے ہوئے تھے۔ روشنی کا گولہ جیسے کسی خلائی جہاز کا حصہ ہو، آہستہ آہستہ نیچے اُتر رہا تھا، اور ہر گزرتے لمحے کے ساتھ وہ اور بھی قریب آ رہا تھا۔

In this regard, Railway Workers Union Chairman Manzoor Razi said that Pakistan Railways plays an important role in the country's economy. He said that the railway has more than 7 divisions which include Karachi, Sukkur, Multan, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Quetta and others. There were 22 passenger trains running on the main line of Pakistan Railways, out of which 4 have been stopped and 18 passenger trains are running at present.

He said that there is no medical emergency facility in the passenger trains of Pakistan Railways, no doctors or paramedical staff are posted in any train, if a passenger suffers from a medical emergency, they should be given medical assistance in the passenger train. There are no facilities but few trains have first aid box guards but they also have nominal medicines. If there is a serious medical emergency, the help of the district administration has to be taken or the vehicle is stopped at a station and the patient is shifted to the nearest hospital.

He said that the government should take notice of this serious situation and appoint railway doctors and paramedical staff in the train at the divisional level. The train should have oxygen and medical equipment and medicines to deal with emergencies.

Syed Shahid Iqbal, Central Media Coordinator of Pakistan Railway Premium Union said that it is unfortunate that the profitable passenger trains of the railways are being privatized. He said that except for major railway stations, there is no medical emergency facility for passengers in any small stations or passenger trains. Railways has a complete medical department, if the railway authorities want, doctors and medical staff can be posted in passenger trains. He said that if there is any accident or medical emergency with a passenger in the train, then the emergency is dealt with with the support of the district administration.

Railway officials said that currently 97 passenger trains are running on the up and down tracks across the country as per the schedule, including Khyber Mail, Tezgam, Karachi Express, Karakoram, Khushal Khan Khattak and other trains. He said that apart from the engine and power coach, 19 coaches are installed in the big passenger trains which include Economy, AC Standard, AC Business and AC Sleeper. The 19-coach trains carry 850 to 900 passengers per train. Railway authorities admitted that there is no integrated emergency medical aid facility available in passenger trains.

Director Public Relations and Spokesperson of Pakistan Railways Babar Ali said that if there is a medical emergency in a passenger train, the guard has a medical and first aid box, senior medical officers and medical staff are present at all stations. If the passenger's condition worsens, the train manager or guard sends an emergency message to the nearest major stations. The passenger is immediately checked up by the railway doctors at the mentioned stations and if the condition worsens, the passenger is transferred to the hospital by the railway ambulance and given medical assistance. ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a warning about potential flash floods, landslides, mudslides, and falling boulders in several regions, including upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Galiyat, Murree, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), due to anticipated monsoon rains.

Starting July 27 and lasting until July 31, monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea are expected to move into these upper areas of the country. The NDMA has instructed relevant departments to prepare for these conditions and take necessary precautions to manage the potential effects of the extreme weather.

In addition, isolated heavy showers are predicted for various cities in Sindh and Balochistan from July 29 to July 31. In order to make Hajj easier and cheaper amid back-breaking inflation, the caretaker federal government is likely to reduce expenses of the sacred pilgrimage this year, revealed Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Aneeq Ahmed.

Addressing a dinner reception, organised by the Pakistan Business Group Organization (PBGO) Punjab Chapter, Ahmed indicated his intention to announce the Hajj policy by Wednesday (November 15).

He emphasised the consistent adherence to the Hajj Policy since 2004, underscoring the importance of respecting and implementing the directives of the Saudi government both in letter and spirit.

Highlighting a notable accomplishment of his government, Aneeq disclosed that the forthcoming Hajj pilgrimage would incur a reduced cost, now standing at less than Rs1,075,000, compared to the previous pilgrimage which incurred expenses of Rs1,175,000.

He guaranteed that pilgrims would experience maximum convenience and comfort during this Hajj season, with a range of facilities, including an affordable internet data package with a private network SIM available throughout their 45-day stay in the Kingdom.

The ministry was introducing a short-term Hajj programme spanning approximately 20 days, recognising the constraints faced by some pilgrims who are unable to stay for more than 40 days due to personal and professional commitments, he added.

The minister shared uplifting news for prospective pilgrims paying their Hajj dues in dollars, stating that they would be exempt from the balloting process. This exemption, he highlighted, aimed to streamline the Hajj process effectively.

He emphasised that every pilgrim would receive a suitcase equipped with a QR code, ensuring the secure tracking of both their luggage and themselves throughout the entire Hajj operation.

In conclusion, he outlined the ministry’s initiative to maintain discipline among female pilgrims by providing a scarf (hijab) adorned with the national flag on their back.
