For many people in the western world, pop culture serves to keep us afloat in the icy waters of modern day living. Whether it’s a ubiquitous movie sensation like “Star Wars”, a unifying social event like the TV series “Roots”, a divisive musical movement like punk rock, or a strange undefined phenomenon like Charlie Sheen, pop culture seeps into our lives and provides an easy to use tool for interacting with other members of our media obsessed society. With these cultural movements (or accidents) we are completely helpless but to find ourselves as members of one three tribes: like, dislike, don’t care. We go through life collecting these tribal memberships, slowly forming the ternary code that makes up our cultural DNA.

So what does this have to do with Neil Sedaka?

Adam S. and Adam Z. found out from an early age that music was to play a huge part in their lives. It brings them joy, helps them define themselves, and pretty much serves as a lens through which they look at the world. More specifically, a pair of thick coke bottle lenses joined in the middle with electrical tape. Having met much later in life, through the sordid cult of struggling bay area rock musicians to which they both belong, the Adams were intrigued by the fact that they shared so many common musical interests. The Wow & the Flutter is the saga of these two men as they regularly convene at a man cave in an undisclosed location to talk each other through the experience of being a pair of complete and utter rock nerds.

The Wow & The Flutter

<itunes:explicit>yes</itunes:explicit><itunes:image href="http://rawnickel.com/twatf/twatf.jpg"/><itunes:summary>Join Adams S. and Z. as they discuss all aspects of rock and roll music in a manner both confusing and obtuse.</itunes:summary><itunes:subtitle>Two music lovers debate geekery and nerdery.</itunes:subtitle><itunes:category text="Music"/><itunes:author>Adam S. and Adam Z.</itunes:author><itunes:owner><itunes:email>thewowandtheflutter@gmail.com</itunes:email><itunes:name>Adam S. and Adam Z.</itunes:name></itunes:owner>

Episode 5: Fuck the Police

<p><a href="http://rawnickel.com/twatf/twatf_ep5.m4a">Download (25MB)</a></p>
