I really like these kinds of features on smartphones — they genuinely feel user-focused and actually useful. For example, the scheduled power on/off option. At first it sounds unnecessary, but once you start using it, you realize how practical it is.

I especially like having my phone automatically turn off at night and power back on in the morning. It keeps me away from unnecessary notifications and helps create a kind of digital discipline. It also has a small but nice impact on battery health.

I’ve actually been following this philosophy for a while, but I only learned today that it’s called IndieWeb. IndieWeb is short for Independent Web, which literally means “a web you independently own and control.” In short, it’s about publishing and controlling your content on your own website instead of social media — a “tweet” becomes a “note”, and your domain is your identity. The idea of owning my data has always felt right to me.

I deactivated my Facebook account again a few days ago. It had long ceased to be a place where I actively shared things or communicated with people. I had deactivated it years ago and didn’t use it for a long time. A couple of years ago, I reactivated it, thinking I might see some old friends and reconnect with them. However, I didn’t achieve that expectation, and over time, Facebook became just a place I occasionally checked.

Other social media platforms (except Instagram) have not been very active for me either. I’ve been using Instagram for the past 1–2 years to share the places I visit as a kind of memory. I use Twitter primarily to follow the news.

By transitioning my blog to its current structure, I plan to share both written and visual content, and in fact, I intend to distance myself further from social media.

For over a month now, I’ve switched back to a Linux-based operating system and started using Ubuntu 25.04 (Plucky Puffin). I’m not new to Linux; in the past, I’ve always used Windows on one computer and a Linux-based OS on another.

I still use Windows 10 on my desktop, but for convenience, I mostly spend my time on my laptop. With Windows 10 support ending and my laptop not meeting some of the requirements for Windows 11 (although it can be installed in some way), choosing a fast and straightforward operating system became my priority. That’s why Ubuntu became my preference.

I’ve been using my Huawei Watch GT 2 Sport for about three years now, and I think it’s finally time for an upgrade. It still meets most of my needs, but since it can’t display full message or email contents and doesn’t allow replying to incoming messages, I feel it’s time to move on. Many people prefer analog watches over digital or smart ones, but I really enjoy the convenience that technology brings. Also, due to my work, I’m not always able to access my smartphone instantly. That’s why the conveniences offered by smartwatches—such as answering calls, replying to SMS, or viewing email content—are the most important features for me. I think the model I’ll upgrade to will probably be the Huawei GT 6 or the Pro version.

It stuck with me. Then I thought, why limit it to mothers? It applies to all of us. So I reshaped it, and here’s the version that became mine.

Everyone is living this life for the first time, so don’t judge anyone by their mistakes.

Herkes bu hayatı ilk kez yaşıyor; o yüzden hiç kimseyi hatalarıyla yadırgamayın.

Another routine announces with a voice notification when the phone is fully charged.
