Kelly Kruger Joins 'General Hospital' as Serena Baldwin

Kelly Kruger is headed to Port Charles.

According to TV Insider, the former The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful actress has joined the cast of General Hospital as Serena Baldwin, the daughter of Scott Baldwin and the late Dominique Stanton.

Kruger, whose credits also include Criminal Minds, Entourage, and several Hallmark movies, said she is thrilled to return to daytime television.

"I'm honored and excited to be stepping into this role," Kruger told TV Insider. "I cannot wait for the fans to meet Serena!"

Serena was last seen on-screen in 2017. Introduced as an infant in 1992, the character later moved to Port Charles, where she was involved in several major storylines, including kidnappings and a battle with temporary blindness. Serena also shares a family connection with current Port Charles resident Cody Bell, her half-brother through Dominique.

Kruger begins filming on June 8 and will make her first appearance in July.

"I am excited to have Kelly Kruger join the cast of General Hospital," Executive Producer Frank Valentini said. "She’s a terrific actor and we look forward to working with her."

General Hospital actress Kirsten Storms shares life update on Instagram
Storms closed her post with comments about GH, suggesting that her returning to the show is not likely, at least not in the near future. She wrote, “As for what is in my future, where GH is concerned…. Given what’s been going on, I can’t say I will feel comfortable heading back to Los Angeles and returning to work.”

Ryan Quan is returning to Days of our Lives as co-head writer with Jeanne Marie Ford
Quan began his daytime career working on the NBC soap opera Passions in 1999. The writer then joined the writing team of Days of our Lives in 2007, where he held multiple roles including writer's assistant, story consultant, and co-head writer. Paula Cwikly, current Days co-head writer will transition into a consultation role. Quan left the soap in 2025 to work as a breakdown writer for General Hospital, but will return to Salem in July.

The Kate Linder & Friends Charity Tea in the Garden brought in more than $55,000 for Million Dollar Smiles, the 100% volunteer-run nonprofit, during a May 31 event at Canada's Paradise Banquet Hall and Convention Centre in Concord, Ontario. Sean Dominic, Bryton James, Michasel Graziadei and Christian Le Blanc joined Linder at the event.

Former Guiding Light actress Amelia Marshall joins audio soap Haven Falls
Marshall will play Eileen Callahan, who is described as the kind-hearted matriarch of the powerful family, though her decisions are sure to send shockwaves throughout the fictional Midwestern town of Haven Falls.

1942: Clara, Lu and Em, one of radio's earliest network soap operas in 1930 (first on WGN then NBC Blue), was brought back by CBS Radio. CBS aired the show for 15 minutes three days a week at 11 a.m.

1981: As the World Turns returned to the 1:30 p.m. ET timeslot where it had been successful for many years (until February 1980 when CBS expanded The Young and the Restless to 60 minutes and pushed ATWT back a half hour). ATWT would remain in the 1:30 slot until March 20, 1987, the day of the Capitol series finale. The Bold and the Beautiful debuted in ATWT's old timeslot the following Monday.

1981: On Another World, Mac Cory (Douglass Watson) asked Sandy Alexander (Christopher Rich) if Sandy was his son.

Characters from The Young and the Restless make their way to Fairmont Crest for a multi-episode storyline starting on Tuesday, June 9. The crossover event centers on the long-standing friendship between Victor Newman and Vernon Dupree, who reunite for a high-profile political fundraiser. Joining Victor are Jack Abbott, Diane Abbott, Kyle Abbott, Abby Newman Winters, and Devon Winters. The crossover will also deepen the connection between the two soaps through Devon's ties to the Dupree family.

The Bold and the Beautiful VP Comms & Talent Relations Eva Basler departs CBS Sudser
Basler served as VP Communications and Talent Relations for Bell-Phillip TV Productions, where she managed publicity, marketing social media and talent relations for CBS’ top-rated daytime drama. She was a beloved member of the team and worked tirelessly for the organization, even through illness. Basler was one of several B&B employees who were quietly laid off recently from the company.

1968: On The Doctors, Ed Stark's (Conrad Roberts) parents, Paul (P. Jay Sidney) and Hope (Clarice Taylor), told him that he had become a stranger to them.

1979: On Ryan's Hope, Delia Reid Ryan (Randall Edwards) threatened to tell her former mother-in-law, Maeve, the truth about her loan to save the bar if Maeve's husband, Johnny (Bernard Barrow), didn't fire Kevin MacGuinness (Malachy McCourt).

1968: On Dark Shadows, Carolyn (Nancy Barrett) began to experience the dream curse, but woke herself up to keep from having it. Later, Carolyn had the dream in which she saw a tombstone with her name ("Carolyn Collins Stoddard") and the following dates, Born: December 8, 1948, Died: July 15, 1968.

1973: On The Doctors, Dr. Matt Powers (James Pritchett) informed Mona Aldrich (Meg Mundy) that she needed to take more tests to find out what was wrong with her.

1979: On Another World, Rachel (Victoria Wyndham) freaked out when Brooks told her Mac (Douglass Watson) took Amanda. Later, Rachel arrived at the Cory mansion with the police but Mac wouldn't let them in without a search warrant.

1980: At the 8th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, winners included Guiding Light (Drama Series), Douglass Watson, Judith Light, Warren Burton and Francesca James. Hugh McPhillips won for "Cameo Appearance," a short-lived category.

1984: Carol Burnett and Elizabeth Taylor guest-starred on All My Children. Taylor surprised Burnett during a scene with Eileen Herlie (Myrtle). She spoke about it on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno shortly after Taylor passed away. "All of a sudden out of the blue, which was not in the script, there is somebody in the charwoman scrub-woman outfit," Burnett said. It was Taylor dressed as one of her characters from The Carol Burnett Show.

1984: On Days of our Lives, Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope (Kristian Alfonso) reconciled at Maggie's farmhouse after he kidnapped Hope from her wedding to Larry Welch.

1984: On The Edge of Night, Judd Wallace held Jody Travis (Karrie Emerson) hostage.

Robin also revealed how lonely she felt when Anna and Robert were presumed dead but had her uncle Mac care for her, and later talked about Stone and how he died. Anna told Robin they would reunite in Paris when it was safe. As Edmund escorted Robin out of Wildwind, Anna broke down in tears.

2009: Actor Ward Costello died at age 89. His soap roles included Peter Ames in The Secret Storm and Martin Drake on General Hospital.

1938: Frank and Anne Hummert radio soap opera Stella Dallas aired on New York local station WEAF for the final time before going national on NBC with the following episode. The popular series ran on NBC until December 23, 1955.

1969: On Dark Shadows, Quentin's (David Selby) ghost revealed to David that if any one of three things could have been changed, he might have been saved: first there was the discovery of a silver bullet at Collinwood; then the one person who could have helped him was murdered and he claimed he could not tell David everything; third, the one person who loved him turned against him.

1971: On The Doctors, Dr. Nick Bellini (Gerald Gordon) stressed to Dr. Mike Powers (Peter Burnell) that he have patience with their experiment.

1980: On The Edge of Night, Raven (Sharon Gabet) and Cliff (Ernie Townsend) went out on a date.

1985: On Santa Barbara, at Cruz's re-enactment of Channing's death, Sophia (Judith McConnell) was revealed as the killer.

1988: On Days of our Lives, Abe (James Reynolds) and "Roman" (Drake Hogestyn) received promotions.

1990: Actor Tom Brown, who played Al Weeks on General Hospital, died at age 77.

1996: A jazz variation of Guiding Light's "Hold On to Love" theme aired for the first time.

1998: On The Young and the Restless, the marriage of Cole Howard and Victoria Newman (J. Eddie Peck and Heather Tom) came to an end in divorce court, with the couple left to reconcile their past and whatever feelings might remain before moving on.

2002: On Australian soap Home and Away, a storm approached as guests were enjoying a dinner cruise in the harbor. Kirsty, who was supposed to be grounded, got in big trouble when her parents saw her onboard. Meanwhile, Kirsty discovered that Kane was on the boat, and warned Dani. As the storm worsened, the boat started taking on water, forcing the guests to abandon ship.

2007: Primetime serial Army Wives premiered on the Lifetime Network. The show ran for 7 seasons with a total of 117 episodes.

2009: On As the World Turns, the Hughes family held a memorial service for Adam.

2010: Golden Girls actress Rue McClanahan died at age 76. She played roles in daytime soap operas Another World, Where the Heart Is and Love of Life, and in primetime comedic sudser Sordid Lives.

Geyer will be playing the contract role of Tristan Roberts. He began taping June 1, the same day the show filmed its landmark 16000th episode. He played struggling musician Ty Harper on the Australian soap opera Neighbours from 2008-2009.

Jeff Branson joins cast of audio soap opera
The Emmy Award-winning actor will be stepping into the role of Lucas Hale on Haven Falls, taking over from Nick Kretz. He will debut in July.

Y&R head writer Josh Griffith: Matt Clark can 'absolutely' be redeemed
Head Writer Josh Griffith tells Soap Opera Digest that giving him amnesia was most definitely part of a larger plan to keep the actor active in Genoa City. But can Matt truly be redeemed? Griffith says yes — with a key caveat.

"This is a way of kind of recreating and reinventing the character," Griffith notes, "through a total loss of memory of everything that he’s done and then having to learn what he’s done and [exploring] how can that impact him going forward."

Angela Bassett's first major role was on daytime soap opera Search for Tomorrow
Bassett's breakthrough moment came in 1985 when she landed the role of Selina McCulla on SFT. Selina was a dedicated nurse who ran the Riverfront Clinic. Her storylines involved managing her brother Cruiser (Joseph C. Phillips), training a young volunteer named T.R. (played by a pre-30 Rock Jane Krakowski), and keeping a sharp eye on a stubborn patient nicknamed Sailor.

1969: The 514th and final episode of primetime soap opera Peyton Place aired on ABC.

Norman and Rita arrived at Dr. Rossi's hearing, planning to give an honest testimony about the events surrounding Fred Russell's death. Attempting to determine probable cause, the lawyers questioned Sergeant Walker, who spoke to Rossi's state of mind on the night that Russell suffered his fatal injury, and Walker stated that he seemed "professionally concerned" but calm. When he was dismissed, he talked to Lew, and told him that there is a warrant out for his arrest for a hit-and-run. He asked him to behave honorably and turn himself in after Rossi's trial concludes. Marsha Russell next took the stand and explained that Fred tried to rape her shortly before his death. When asked about his final moments in the hospital, she was reluctant to reveal his dying words, but finally admitted that he accused Rossi of injuring him. Norman then talked about breaking up a fight between Russell and Rossi, after which Rossi expressed the desire to "clobber" him. Rita explained that Rossi's behavior was "controlled" and, despite the fight, he did not seem likely to seek further violence.

During a recess, Marsha wondered if she should have lied, but Rossi told her that it would not have helped, and she reiterated her desire to marry him as soon as the hearing ends. Rossi speculated that the judge was getting "fed up" with Carter, the opposing counsel. Ada Jacks then took the stand and revealed that Rossi was seen to be looking for Russell, though she suggested that he merely wanted to speak with him. Dr. Miles commented on Russell's fatal head injury, casting doubt upon where and when it was caused, and Mr. Hagen, the motel manager, stated that he saw Russell at his establishment with a blonde woman, though he was unsure who she was. The judge then waived the lawyers' right to their closing summaries, as there was no jury, and declared that probable cause did in fact exist and that Rossi would go to trial, much to everyone's distress. Lew debated running away, having observed Rossi's unfair treatment in the hearing, but decided to stay. Susan, worried, said that she must speak to Rossi, and the series concluded on a cliffhanger as Rossi returned to his cell for an indefinite stay.

1972: On Another World, Rachel (Robin Strasser) and Steve (George Reinholt) spent time with Jamie. Alice (Jacqueline Courtney) thought Steve was in Somerset.

1983: On The Edge of Night, just after Sky (Larkin Malloy) and Raven (Sharon Gabet) were married, Sky told Raven that Spencer had swindled them out of the Whitney fortune and left them bankrupt.

1988: On Days of our Lives, after being seen by Alan, Shane (Charles Shaughness) told Kim (Patsy Pease) they best way not to blow their plan was to proceed with the divorce.

1989: On Guiding Light, Roger (Michael Zaslow) woke up in the hospital just as Holly (Maureen Garrett) was about to suffocate him with a pillow.

CBS is preparing one of the most ambitious daytime crossover events in recent memory as characters from The Young and the Restless make their way to Fairmont Crest on Beyond the Gates for a multi-episode storyline starting on Tuesday, June 9.

The event centers on the long-standing friendship between Victor Newman and Vernon Dupree, who reunite for a high-profile political fundraiser. Their relationship, built over years of mutual support and influence, serves as the catalyst for bringing several familiar faces from Genoa City into the world of Beyond the Gates.

Joining Victor are Jack Abbott, Diane Abbott, Kyle Abbott, Abby Newman Winters, and Devon Winters. The crossover will also deepen the connection between the two soaps through Devon's ties to the Dupree family, following his historic first appearance on Beyond the Gates in 2025.

Recently released first-look photos reveal interactions between the Newman, Abbott, and Dupree families, including scenes featuring Dani and Andre Dupree alongside Devon. The images tease a glamorous fundraiser that quickly becomes the center of major drama.

According to previews, what begins as a celebration takes a shocking turn that sends shockwaves through Fairmont Crest and affects both worlds. CBS has remained tight-lipped about the details, but the fallout is expected to unfold across multiple episodes.

The crossover marks another milestone for Beyond the Gates, which has already welcomed visitors from both The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful as CBS continues to build connections between its daytime dramas.

1973: Actor Walter Greaza, who played Winston Grimsley for years on The Edge of Night, died at age 76.

1981: Another Life premiered on the Christian Broadcasting Network. Co-created by Roy Winsor and Bob Aaron, the show ran until October 5, 1984 (875 episodes). Check out the closing credits from a 1981 episode below.

1983: Actor Earnest Graves died at age 64. His many soap roles included being the original actor to play Victor Lord on One Life to Live and Dr. David Stewart in As the World Turns. His longest daytime stint was playing The Guiding Light's Alex Bowden.
