Dick Dyer has consulted with businesses large and small, all across the country and the world. He’s helped businesses in a wide range of industries solve the complex issue of connecting their product or service to a population, and getting that population to use it and like it. This, in all it’s forms, is consulting. Sounds simple, but as we discover in our conversation, isn’t exactly intuitive.

Shannon Haines is gearing up for her 13th Maine International Film Festival as festival director, and has seen a cinema community sprout in otherwise sleepy Waterville over her time. We recount why MIFF is and will be a Waterville staple, what the festival means to the community, and why you should probably think about buying a ticket or two. We also discuss how Shannon, who is not a film maker, and didn’t study film, has grown MIFF’s success by basing it on community.

We all know Eliot Cutler the gubernatorial candidate, having made a play for the Blaine house in 2010 and just this past fall in 2014. Now Eliot has reinvisioned how he can reshape Maine’s future and it is through innovative and interdisciplinary graduate level education at the University of Maine combining business and law. What will this center look like? How will it benefit Maine? Eliot joins us in studio to tell us why this is important to him, the state, and how it will help train a workforce ready for today’s economy.
