Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Wednesday

Joining the Westside White Guy in downplaying or poo-pooing Ron Kaye's bitch slap against LA, BlogDowntown gets the headcount wrong and goes off into non-sequitirs from the City's semi-colorful past.  How about focusing on what was said rather than what people were wearing?

How does Councilmember Greig Smith plan to help with the City's budget woes? He will forgo six days of his six figure salary.  Maybe he can coordinate that with one of the many junkets Council Members are taking so at least he can eat for free.

Thanks to John McCain's get tough stance on immigration (since when?) and the support of America's most powerful Latino leader Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Barack Obama stands to win more Latino votes than the presumptive Republican nominee.  Well that's what a Colorado political website says anyway.

The President of the Neighborhood Council in Palms wanted to appoint his successor but ran into a snag: the Council by-laws.  Apparently President Todd Robinson wants to quit and was going to appoint a Vice President.  The problem is you can't appoint a Vice President and the spot is open to all stakeholders.

The folks at the very excellent Foothill Cities Blog are running a City Hall photo contest.  You can submit photos of any city hall anywhere and win some big time bragging rights and some great prizes.  There's even a photo of a so-so copy of Pasadena City Hall in Japan!

And finally, things are getting wild in Altadena.  A local blog details with photos the visit of a bear, a mountain lion and a deer who apparently had his entire midsection chewed up by a mountain lion.

Drug-related killings have taken thousands of lives, but now those uninvolved in the cartel battles are falling victim, even children.

Non sequitur, Higby. You've clearly been spending way too much time with your pal Elliott.

Valley business leader to resign

The head of the Valley Industry and Commerce Assn., a San Fernando Valley business advocacy group, said Monday that he plans to resign his post at the end of the year.

Brendan Huffman, who spent 2 1/2 years at the association, said he is looking for a change. "I'm just ready for something else, and that's the God's honest truth. I've put a lot of energy and passion into this job," he said.

Huffman is the husband of L.A. Unified school board member Tamar Galatzan, who represents parts of the San Fernando Valley.

Galatzan has also been mentioned as a possible candidate for the seat currently held by Los Angeles City Councilwoman Wendy Greuel, who represents part of the northeast Valley.

America's most powerful Latino leader? Come on Higby, Antonio has enough people kissing his ass already.

Wouldn't the most powerful leader be the Senator from Colorado or Florida or New Jersey. Even Richardson has a better claim to this title.

Garcetti has been REALLY pandering to the Latinos lately - laying the foundations for a run for Mayor?

Today talking about the Dream Act, where illegals get in-state tuition to Calif. Universities, he and all the Mexicans were deliberately trying to confuse the situation: they kept saying, in Garcetti's words, "college is not a privilege, it's a right."

Really? tell that to LOTS of blue collar and working/ barely middle class kids whose parents can't afford tuition, but their being white is a disadvantage in getting into college: they're not eligible for affirmative action which allows much lower grades and SAT scores, NOR eligible for most scholarships.

No one is stopping Mexican nationals from attending our state colleges now -- they just have to pay the out-of-state tuition which even people from Nevada pay, let alone those from Mexico or India.

So they're all lying, claiming that NOT passing the Dream Act "prevents" illegal kids from going to college. It just means they'll have to pay their fair share, not have US subsidize their education.

A citizen in America has MUCH more rights to equal tuition than a Mexican national, which is what these people are.

Alarcon argued that these Mexican kids have contributed greately to Calif. by going to school here for years -- reallly? More like it, we have subsidized them (and probably a half-dozen siblings of poor parents), which is why OUR middle class kids have no schools or poor schools because they're full of illegals, and are mad as hell.

Tom LaBong was an ever bigger idiot, calling sponsor Gil Cedillo "A Great Man," who worked for the poor and those who couldn't even vote (they're called illegals) and practically licking the boots of the Mexicans. (Worst of all, LaBong may not even understand the issues and might just as soon agree with the other side if listening to them -- he's just sucking up for the sake of it.

Nationally, even McCain is sucking up, but that's because he doesn't want to get attacked by Latinos right now -- if he wins, he'll have to back off some of the outrageous stuff like no-fault legalization and Dream Act, licenses for illegals. He always throws in an afterthought about "first securing the borders" but the conservatives aren't buying it. They remember the lies of 86 Amnesty. Secure the borders FIRST -- promise to do it later, amounted to nothing.

You are correct, Anon. 1:13 and 1:16! Today's clowncil "panderia" reached a new level of Leftist locquasity. (Then again, I say that after EVERY city council meeting.) Even Zine was shameless, hanging onto the all the predictable pro-illegal catch phrases; i.e. "...they're HERE... throughnofaultoftheirown...they've played by the rules...and we should encourage these gifted young people who have contributed SO MUCH to this country..." Why bother to go to battle over this? These kids already despise our American educational system; but I guess the council just wants to see how many benafits they can get for the illegals by leaning on everybody. In a way the white ones are the worst-- Li'l Hahn, Rosendahl, and the goat-eyed Greuel, that is. I think if I hear that ditzy Disney Democrat say "Although there are many Issues and Challanges, we must Celebrate Diversity with Complete Transparancy" just ONE MORE TIME, I'm gonna run outside, roll around in the mud and eat grass!
