I think its some of both. My "bad" habit, if I've got one, is a tendency to want to go where angels fear to tread, meaning I get a kick out of trying new stuff. I don't mind suffering a little to learn something new.

I do believe most of though are more inclined to stay in our comfort zone with what we know because much like the flow of water, follows the path of least resistance and has much lower risk associated with it.

Interesting how things come around.Do you think it is a cost factor still compared to a "conventional system" or is it just human nature to naturally steer away from the unknowwn or both?

Good morning Charlie,

Such is just what our industry needs to get the attention, and the memory, of our industry before our politicians. They WON'T forget who we are, what we do and where to get their info.

GREAT JOB!

Patrick...any of the sites you can post positive or negative comments. This blog just focused on how to handle the negative ones when they occur. I'm sure all companies would be thrilled to have customers post their positive experiences, because it helps the business in the long run.

Rich - We started just with people replying to our ad on Craigslist. Once we got a few people in the door that way, we found a few industries that gave us some good parallel experience, and we've been able to get direct referrals from staff we've hired of people they used to work with.

As an example, we've found good success bringing in new service technicians with backgrounds in car audio, home automation/security, and residential electrical work, as they come to us with a head-start in being able to read wiring diagrams, and understand electrical troubleshooting. Like I said in my blog post though, it is really more important that they match up with the attitude and aptitude we are looking for. We'll get them the training they need.

Hey Adam, this is really great article. I'm curious, how have you built interest in HVAC in people outside the industry? Have you found any converts from other industries? Or mainly people looking to break into the biz through Craigslist?
