As you all may remember I was subletting a space at at this industrial building for a time to store some of my things, use it as a work space, to record some sounds and to do some practicing. None of these things transpired both due to my laziness and fear of coming down almost 8 miles away from my house to toot a couple of times and try to record something. Usually, late at night! Setting up would take half the night and by that time, I would be so freaked out by being there that I would later run out of the building keys rattling in my terrified hands! It was dubbed by my employer and his friend John Ampulski "The Fortress Of Solitude: Where no one can hear you scream!". In mid November we were evicted from the premises, and then a few weeks later John died on November 18th 2010. At Johns memorial a friend of his called him Puck, Captain Future! I dedicated this mash up of Fortress sounds to Capt. Future!

I posted my first podcast on July 18th 2006. For this forty ninth episode I would like to highlight two podcasts. The first is #8 or "The Morning After". Sung by the Oberon Junior High School. Viking Singers. The second is #10 aka "Pink Morning Mass". Mashing The Viking Singers, the Elgin High School Sr. A Capella Choir singing the "American Jazz Mass". "Pink Panther" played by the Euclid Jr. Hi Band. The inspired drum solo on "Milestones" performed by Green Mtn. Jazz Band Spectrum. All of it under the control of the Garage Band! These performances provided the most interesting sounds to play with. I was just starting to realize the full potential that this media has given me. I want to expand this show. I'm not sure how, why or what form it should be. I would like to put on other people stories, noise, sounds or whatever too. I don't really have a format in mind other than freeform or the illusion of freeform. I featured a friend of mine and his poetry on the podcast. I enjoyed this process, if anyone has anything along the same lines please contact me. I edit it on to the show. I'm looking for anything between 3 to 15 mins. Anything longer would be posted over multiple episodes.

Happy Thanksgiving! Here is the 1976-77 Longmont High School bands again this time performing Richard Strauss' "Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks" arranged by Mark Hindsley. This is the same group that brought us "Scaramouch" on the same recording. It's one of the best performances of any high school group I've ever heard! An incredible flute solo along with some of the best ensemble playing between the brass, woodwinds and percussion, an era in Colorado public school music which seems long past. Thank goodness that the performance was recorded and pressed into vinyl for posterity.

Fumbling. And just milking these sounds as far as they go without any effects. I'm still putting these things together intuitively, listening to dozens of "loops" trying to catch something. The nature of the process! You quickly find out that random sounds fall organized under the dictates of the loop. I want to restart this crazy thing. So after six months a new show!! If you will allow me I will air check my microphone again. The University of Iowa Old Gold Singers are returning to sing the bed to a funk drummer with crazy brass and woodwinds accompanying. The first chapter is Captain & Tennille's "Love Will Keep Us Together" played with enthusiasm by the Oberon Junior High Stage Band in 1976. The bridge reminds me of a 70's era detective show music, like the themes of Cannon or Barnaby Jones. This song was a world wide hit the year before and the kids know this song and they like this arrangement. This is public school arts and music at its best! Next we have "Zen project #1". More 3 Voices fun, you will find a video of it her e on YouTube. And an improved arrangement of "Georgy Girl" and that will be it for that.

It's only in the end when someone realizes that fleas, dogs and ukuleles are related. It's a chuckle....

From St. Augustine's Prayer Book, the first prayer is read. The Elgin High School Senior A Cappella Choir, directed by Charles H. Beckman will present from their album "European Tour-April 1971" the selection "American Jazz Mass Kyrie-Gloria-Sanctus and Benedictus" acc by jazz combo: tpt: Jeff Taylor, alto sax: George Schneider, bari sax: Richard Robertson, bs: Cris Gudeman, drums: Mike Miqueion. The choir will end abruptly, the prayer will return "corrected". It's strange how the choir ends. At least it's at a phrase ending.

I'm going to do something a little different this time I'm going to play you some things from my record collection. I collect public school records from different groups on vinyl, 50's, 60's, 70's and sometime stuff from the 80's. I also like getting self produced recordings from people like a local band or even a guy whom played a piano bar in Chicago. Things like that. The first recording I'm going to play for you is the 1987 Green Mountain H.S. Jazz Ensemble "Spectrum" and they will be playing Miles Davis' "Milestones". The recording for the time is excellent. The trumpet solo is a little tentative, but the drummer is a wild kid...... Kinda.

Something weird. Mostly playing with the GarageBand loops. But I like the computer speech and the radio garble stuff. Crowd noises. A live show theme aspect. Like Dr. Phil or something. Sensitive. I just can't give up randomness. I'm so stuborn! Format be damned!
