WordPress is the most used CMS platform by bloggers, so this post is for those who are new to WordPress, I have created a  Blogging Guide videos series to take you through a step by step guide that will show you what exactly you should do after installing WordPress to get your blog ready to go. This Blogging Guide is explaining the tips on the 43 Blogger Tips – What you should do after installing WordPress.

Basically my Blogging Guide is going to cover tips to cover the basic settings, and talk about some ideas to increase your blog traffic, getting your blog indexed faster by Google, and give it a unique look and feel by header banners, and much more. So in this fist video I will talk in this video about the first 4 things you should do after installing WordPress of my post:

This is he first Video of Blogging Guide series, I will be publishing more videos to cover the whole 43 important tips that you might be interested in, so I hope you enjoy it.

Making Money Online and related niches has a very high competition on the internet, and still there are so many blogs created everyday by newbies.

I am going to ask you a few questions as you might be a blogger friend, blog reader or visitor, and if you got an answer I will be glad to hear it. Also I am going to ask myself a few questions and try to answer them because maybe you are wondering! So this post is to give some information that I really want our readers and visitors to know about.

Before you read this, I want you to know that I don’t mean a specific person or a blogger.

I -with all respect- mean everyone received my open invitation to join our Famous Bloggers Team and didn’t respond. I mean everyone who read this post and don’t learn something about cooperation from it, of course if you are new to our blog community then you probably don’t know about this, so smile now you are going to know!

I started to do interviews with bloggers to get to know them better while working on Famous Bloggers project, I have created the FBC (Famous-Bloggers-Club), I invited 100 active bloggers to work together, I meet with great bloggers who joined the club!

Time goes, and I created FamousBloggers.net blog 5 months ago and connected it with some other related projects, accounts, pages and services to help me growing the community and the blog rank and serve our FBC club like:

• MMO Social Bookmark and networking site
• Famous Bloggers on Facebook
• Famous Bloggers on Twiter
• Famous Bloggers on Flickr
• Famous Bloggers on Squidoo

So, when I first invited my friends bloggers to join me on this journey more than 5 months back, I wanted to unite our efforts because I was setting a big goal, it’s a long term blogging goal, and I knew that I will move to another country and probably it’s going hard for me to get a fast decent full time job, so I decided to involve myself more in blogging and became a full time blogger, I was not kidding, I was not thinking to abuse anyone, I never asked anyone to work on my blog and forget about his/her blog, I just asked you to add your blogging power to mine!

Blogging is not a Single Player Game

My idea was very simple, and this is the first time I write about it, it’s simple as “Creating one strong blog that can compete and reach the top”, and then we can use it to serve all our blogging goals, community, readers, costumers, ranks, traffic… etc.

I believe that it’s not easy to work alone in a very high competitive atmosphere, so… if everyone start to work alone and compete with others in the same community we will be doing a very big mistake!

Some of my friends I contacted earlier when I started this blog, they didn’t have enough time to join me, most of them were busy with their blogs, offline life and some other stuff, and I completely understand why they couldn’t be part of our team, so no problem with that!

But, when I think about other who are competing each other while they can cooperate, I just feel they are taking the wrong path, some of you will think it’s better for them to work on their own blogs and concentrate on their own goals, but to where you think they are taking their blogs with out cooperation and uniting with others?

If you check our about Famous Bloggers page, you will find out who are the members of our team, those who worked so hard to give credits to this project, so there no words can reward them back for this great work.

Of course not all them are active recently, probably for personal reasons or they are busy with their own blogs, so… no worries, I give always excuses to our team but not for ever!

So, at the end of this month I will be updating you with some new members on the team, as I am doing some communications with a few awesome and very active bloggers who want to join us, and I am sure you are going to love their work.

What is the future of FamousBloggers blog?

Thinking about the future of Famous Bloggers blog is not easy at this level, to be honest planning the future of this blog, is going to be more harder than before as I want to find the best deal for it, so the coming six months is going to be hot!

The work now should be more harder than ever, because we are competing for real this time with top niche sites, and I need great help, ideas and feedback from all my friends, and supporters more than ever, and I will try my best to respond to you.

Something amazing happened yesterday, I can see my dream on the way to be true and I can see that our blog is heading right to the top of the Blogosphere.

Kristi of the Art of Blogging contacted me by email yesterday and she was having a high level of great news, she wanted to congratulate all our Blog Team for been listed on the top 100 small business on Technorati and right now we are the blog number six on the list, and guys this is really awesome, and it’s a great award for our team’s hard work.

Actually I was watching Technorati’s traffic through our dashboard but I didn’t notice that we are listed on the top 100 blogs.

This is so exciting, specially after only 5 months from starting our blog, we are competing with the greatest on Technorati directories.

What happened latter was more exciting, because at the end of the day I found out that we are listed again as one of the Top 100 business on Technorati, I was really… really excited of the good results, our blog is growing and competing with top sites on the blogosphere, and this is exactly what I was planning since the day one we started this blog, and I was talking about it over and over because this blog made to be on the top from it’s name.

I am so excited that I had to stop and check what I wrote again, because I went very far from the post topic lol, so I am actually deleting some part of the post now and writing it again

OK, here we go, let’s talk about Technorati authority, and check how Technorati measure it and rank sites, maybe you know that they changed their ranking method recently after rebuilding Technorati new version.

How Technorati calculate authority?

I knew now how it works after reading the Technorati Authority FAQ page, your site will be listed topically by content category, and the most important factor of getting authority is linkbacks to your blog and how relevant these links are, and how your website’s influence within its subject category, you may read Technorati Authority FAQ page to get the whole idea and better understanding what authority means, but the most important thing for you to do now is to check the listing of your site and set categories to the most relevant to your content. Note that you also can be listed on top of more than one category at the same time like exactly what happened with this blog.

What about Alexa rank?

You may notice that our rank on Alexa is also increasing, and in this occasion I will take the chance to ask you to write a simple short review for our blog on Alexa and contact me with a link to you site and I will personally review yours, this help a lot to increase Alexa rank and all what it takes is a few minutes!

Lots of people have their own blogs these days. And many of these bloggers want to make money. Others don’t necessarily want to earn an income through their blog.

No matter if you want to make money or not, the ultimate goal of every blogger is to create a better blog. In this article I am going to present you some ideas that will help you to improve your blog.

So let’s get started.

Create a Resource Page

Whatever topic you cover, resource pages are invaluable. If you cover everything related to Wordpress on your blog than a resource page with a list of lots of useful plugins might be valuable to your readers. You could also list Wordpress themes and differentiate between paid and free Wordpress themes.

It’s all about being creative. Simply think about what would be useful to your audience and create a resource page about it.

Become Active in a Forum

A forum is a great way to show off your expertise. If you want to become active on a forum then pick a forum that’s related to your niche.

Forums are all about helping others. Simply help other people.

By helping others and giving advice you establish yourself as an expert. That’s what forums are all about.

But by becoming active in a forum you will gain another advantage. And one of the most overlooked uses of forums is that you can use them as a basis for your own articles. For example create a polls for your articles. A forum has probably an even bigger audience so why not create a poll in a forum that you could use in one of your articles?

Build an Email List

Email is a great way to keep up with your readers. It has become more popular these days but people still use it the wrong way. They use it to promote affiliate products but that’s not the way to go.

Use your list to directly talk to your readers. Engage them. And further make them feel special because your subscribers are your most loyal readers after all. Send them something that your normal readers don’t get to know about.

Host a Contest

There aren’t too many blogs that create a contest but it’s a great way to engage your readers. It also gives your blog some additional exposure. And you don’t really need a well-known blog to attract sponsors.

Helmi from Huzzer Magazine got $3500 worth of products for his contest even though he has only 30 subscribers for his blog. Everything is possible. At least try!

Create an Elevator Pitch

This is also one of the things Darren Rowse covered in his ebook 31 Days to Build a Better Blog. An elevator pitch basically gives you an overview of what your blog is about. It’s is only one or two sentences long.

For example for my blog my elevator pitch is Helping You Become the Blogger You Want to Be, because that’s what I believe my blog is about.

Think about what you want to achieve with your blog? Do you want to make money? Do you want to help others?

Answering these questions might give you a good idea of what your elevator pitch should be like. Here is also an advanced article on creating an elevator pitch.

Comment on Other Blogs

Commenting is one of the most underrated strategy of getting traffic to your blog. I have doubled my traffic through commenting on other blogs and so can you.

Be honest when you comment on another blog, you don’t have to agree with what the author said. Actually the best comments are those that criticize the author. It is all about adding value to the conversation and that’s what you are ultimately doing by critically examining the article.

Let’s face it, it’s hard out here for even the savvy freelance writer/blogger. With the downslide and economic turn of today’s economy comes closings, layoffs, and downsizing of prominent newspapers and print magazines. Needless to say, these unfortunate occurrences, as sad & devastating as they are, have inadvertently placed unforeseen pressure on the business of freelance writing.

The competition in an already competitive field have just widen in regards to how the writer competes for and capture the attention of reputable, paying markets. The influx of newspaper journalists and magazine writers/editors vying  possibly for gigs in the same genre or market becomes daunting, at best.

You’re too new for this?!

However, this idea that perhaps the competition is heating up shouldn’t cause you to fear and doubt your individual business aplomb, unique product brand, or, what you can do for the client that topples the competition. I found myself in a similar quandary recently when faced with a great magazine opportunity posted online. Knowing that this job was too incredible to pass based upon my fear of competition, I refused to give in to the first negative to cross my  mind, “You’re too new for this.”

I’ll tell you later how that situation turned out. What I want to stress right now, is this: Don’t give up your dream in the face of fear. Set your sights to seemingly impossible, unobtainable goals & set off to conquer them, one step at a time. Only give up when you’ve exhausted every possible avenue to getting the job/client of your dreams. A couple other tips to take into consideration when client trolling?

Client trolling tips

1. Clients are people who have most likely heard it all-don’t try to impress them with who you are, instead; show them what your particular product can do for them.
2. Be excited about what you have to offer! Don’t pretend enthusiam where none exists.
3. Respond to questions promptly & with confidence.
4. Don’t balk at what seems to be an impossible task. ..be open to an editor’s consideration of your capability.
5. Impart trust and dependability

Only three years into freelance writing/blogging, I took a bold leap of faith several months ago  and sent a query to  a reputable magazine looking to add columnists. I knew the subject matter, but feared I wouldn’t come across as polished as some of the more seasoned writers. The response from the editor was amicable and questioning. “could I write a feature for their summer issue?”

I said yes! And I did with the help of the editor providing interview subjects… I also got the gig. I’m an advice columnist for a nurse magazine. My tips for going to market with potential clients actually worked for me… try them, they might work for your future writing endeavors as well.  When I signed up for famous bloggers at www.famousblogger.net I wasn’t sure I’d even hear back from them. I was wrong. The response was prompt and personable… happy blogger I am.

Two Bloggers to learn from

Trust me guys, you will not find some one to learn from how to blog, how to use social media, how to build your site and marketing it better than Gerald Weber of Houston SEO blog, and Andrew Rondeau of the Blogging Guide, I am watching this so closely and I am completely impressed by these two guys! So I am sharing this with you to learn from them!

Why Social Media & Marketing Brave Hearts

First, fully understand the meaning of cooperation, and they enjoying a very high spirit while playing the game!

I can be more specific and highlight Gerald’s great work on promoting the contest, he have a very unique social media style when he is doing it, which leads me to call it the brave heart social media style, sharing his tips, spreading the contest post through his Twitter followers almost everyday since we started our challenge and published his How to Put the Kibosh on Content Scrapers & Thieves post.

Is this all? NO! he is also promoting other posts on the contest and giving it a big push as well with a great spirit. and he have done a very good promotion for the contest on every corner of the internet.

My other great example of promotion and marketing I catch it from my big brother and friend Andrew, he have done a very high marketing technique that no one will even think about it the same way like he did!

Check this one, when Andrew submitted his 43 Blogger Tips – What you should do after installing WordPress post, and before I publish it, I asked him about the best time for him to publish his post so he can promote it with out losing his audience, I try to avoid publishing contest posts at weekends and prefer to publish my own posts if you understand what I mean, and Andrew reply a very short email saying that he don’t mind, publish it at any time!

Have you learned confident yet? I have learned the confident from Andrew’s reply!

Is that All? Nope! After promoting his post, Andrew didn’t stop at this point, he is doing another amazing thing, he is working on his post and making it a bigger project! Speed it up

Today’s web visitors have short attention spans. Slow websites lose visitors like Jenny Craig loses weight. Google looks at page speed as well, so speed it up! There are many ways to do this. Simply do a quick Google search to find some tips. I’ll also be writing a post shortly about various ways to increase page speed, so stick around.

Prominent navigation

Web designers are getting really creative these days. This is great because of all the good design that is around, but sometimes designers try too hard to “break the mold” and they end up throwing out a lot of the marketing methodology behind site layout. Creative designs are awesome, hiding important things like page navigation is not. Keep it cool, but keep your marketing hat on too.

Site map

There are several advantages to using well organized sitemaps. It is great for the search engines when spidering your website to ensure they index all of your pages. It is also great for users that are looking for a specific page. They can browse your sitemap and find what they are looking for quickly and easily. I recommend that you organize your sitemap into categories.

Search

Featuring a search bar on your site is a great way to help serve up relevant content to your users. If someone visits your site and is looking for something specific, all they have to do is a quick search and they are served up the content that matches their query. There is an analytics side to featuring a search bar as well. There are ways to track the searches made on your site so you can get a better understanding of what your website visitors are interested in.

Avoid Flash heavy doorway pages

Luckily this trend is coming to a close, but there is still much of this out there. There is no reason to put a page before a page. Web surfers are too impatient to have to visit a doorway page before they get to the page they want, especially if they have to view some extravagant Flash video. Just because you have a cool Flash video doesn’t meant you need to force visitors to watch it. Use the video, just find another place for it. Doorway pages are terrible for your SEO as well, so just try to avoid them altogether.

Categorize your content

This seems like a no-brainer and from what I have seen, most websites do this well. Try to break your pages into categories and sub-categories as much as makes sense. Most web surfers are scanners and the faster you can help them find what they are looking for the better.

Break up your content

If you have a lot of content on your pages, break it up with subheadings and images. This allows visitors to scan your content and digest it fast. Put important information that you want read in bold. Subheadings and images are great to break up long articles. Many visitors will bolt if they come to a page that looks like a book. Few people want to sit on a page for 15 minutes reading web content word for word.

Put thought into your call-to-action

Why do you have a website? Surely you had some goals and objectives in mind when you decided to build a website. I’m guessing that some of those goals were somehow sales related. So, if you’re lucky enough to attract web visitors to your site that are searching for your products or services, make buying easy for them. Highlight your calls to action prominently so the user knows how to take action fast.

Check your links!

The last thing you want is someone browsing around your website and come to a screeching halt when they run into a broken link. It is unprofessional and avoidable. Check your site and have someone else double check it as well. We are all busy and broken links happen, I’m guilty of it and I’m sure you are too. Just try to make a conscious effort to get another pair of eyes on your site to help you find things like this.

Easy on the eyes

By now we can all agree that content is great for your website. With that being said, let your content be great by being easily seen and read. Make your content easy to read. Light gray text on white background may look cool, but could be hard to read. Pay attention to colors on black backgrounds as that can make you text difficult to read as well.

Websites can be powerful tools, but they are surely not set it and forget it. Measuring, tuning and tweaking are ongoing tasks of today’s webmasters. Using these suggestions will help reduce your bounce rate and keep your website visitors happy and coming back.

What does it take to be a blog rockstar?

It may seem difficult become influential in a niche where there are many people competing to be the number one website where people will visit, read, and apply what they have read wherever they are – online or offline. The problem is that people are thinking too much about it. That is why so many people confuse social media and social networking. By the way, social media is a marketing tool, not a website where people can interact. Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, and such are social networks. When a person puts their posts out on the social network streams, they are applying a type of social media technique. That post is advertising itself and practically saying “Here I am! Come read me!”

Here are a few tips in becoming a blog rockstar:

Be honest

No one likes people who are fake. Even if you go by a nickname, be true to yourself. Make sure you create a solid brand behind yourself so you will be unforgettable.

Be knowledgeable on your topics

You cannot run a successful site if your content only tells half the story. Cover as much as you can. However, if a topic is too long, break it up into smaller sections. Each part of the blog post your originally wrote can be posted in a separate entry. It makes visitors look forward to more if they were interested in the first part of the article.

Be unique

There are millions of websites on the Internet. There are millions of people that surf around daily. It is no use having a website if you cannot provide something that gives a little something different than the rest of the web pages in your niche.

Be open to conversation

Your visitors leave comments for a reason. Be willing to reply whether you agree or not. If your visitor has a website, visit them and leave a comment. This allows them the same opportunity to get feedback.

Have a well designed web site

Whether you design it or have a professional do it for you, it is important that if you want a successful site, you will have to have one that is not just aesthetically appealing, but also efficient to navigate.

Offer something for free

Be willing to sometimes offer something without having to get something in return. Even if your site only offers advice, you are offering something to your readers. Your articles will allow people to find the information they are interested in and you will be seen as an expert by your readers.

Be willing to work

Your site will not build itself. You will have to write everything, and also promote it. Remember, You are not guaranteed that you will have the same amount visitors everyday. A site’s traffic is always fluctuating. If you want more traffic, you will need to find ways to make it happen.

Search Engine Optimization is a vital part of any website’s lifeline. If a webmaster makes a mistake that lifeline can be damaged or even cut. When this happens, it will take a lot of time, effort,  and a SEO specialist to revive a dyeing website and get it back on top. After studying and working with an old school SEO specialist, I have learned that there are things every webmaster should do when it comes to SEO practices.

Before Starting a New Website

SEO is an ongoing process that will never end. SEO is not a process you only need to do once and ignore it for the rest of the life of the site. SEO rules and rank are constantly changing. If your goal is to be on the first page of the search engine, this can be a lot of work. Rank changes almost daily, you will have to research why you lost rank and why your competitors gained rank. Then work to correct this. If you are not up to this, then you will need to work with a consultant.

Before starting a website, you will need to decide if you will do your own SEO or pay a consultant. Once you make your decision, you need to research your site’s niche. Research the keywords, check your competitors outs, find out why they are number one. A lot of times you can do a simple “View Source” on their site and view their code and see what it looks like. Most web developers and SEO consultants can look at code on a site and use its an reference or to understand what changes in the code they did to make their site better. You will also need to do keyword research. There are plenty of free and paid tools to help with your research. I have used such tools as Keyword Discovery, Free Keyword Tracker, and Good AdWords Keyword Tool.

If you plan to hire a consultant, make sure you research the company and check references if possible. There a lot of people out there that say they are “SEO Gurus” when in reality they know very little about SEO practices. These types of consultants may end up costing you more money and getting your site added to Google’s bad list. Once you are on this list it can be hard to get removed from the list. Another important thing to ask is what they practice. Ask if they practice White Hat SEO, Blue Hat SEO, Black Hat SEO. Choosing black hat might look good up front and get you great results quickly, but in the long term it could be disastrous for your site and even get you band from Google Search Engines

Be patient! SEO can be a slow process. It can take weeks if not months to get results.

Educate yourself; learn SEO, the tactics, and the rules will help you build a better site. Even if you hire consultants; you need to know and understand how SEO works. There are many websites out there that can help you understand SEO and get you more involved in the SEO community.

Do not hand over your site to an SEO consultant and forget about him until he bills you. Stay in contact with him, research his strategy and make sure it’s a good one and that makes sense. Work with him, ask questions and stay involved. Most SEO consultants will want you around if they have questions about your site and goals.

Building Your Website for SEO

Fill out your meta tags. The meta tags are important because they tell the search engines what your site is about. Make sure to use the title tag, description tag and keyword tag (yes I know Google doesn’t use keyword tags anymore, but other search engines do). When creating your meta tags use keywords that are important to your site and niche. Make sure to only use keywords that will be found on your site. Be natural; do not over stuff your keywords, Search Engines will count against you if they find you are keyword stuffing.

Always use relevant titles and meta description on every page

Page titles are one of the most important on-page SEO strategies and should be researched. Make sure your main keywords are in the first part of the title and descriptions. From the research I found, the description tag will not help you rank, but it can show up in the description field along with the page title. The description tag should be no more than 160 characters and add your key words towards the beginning of the description. Most search engines will only display the first 160 characters in the description section of the search results. If the description is longer than 160 characters, most search engines will cut off the rest of the description.

Use H1 through H6

Use H1 through H6 for all of your headings. H tags are used for organization and to structure of a website. Both user and search engine use these H tags. Users tend to skim through a page and if a title catches their eye they will stop and read it. The H tags should have a catchy title using your keywords.

Use your keywords as the anchor text when creating hyperlinks

Anchor texts are the clickable text that links out to another page. Do not “click here” but use something as “on page linking strategies” for the text. Anchor Text is ranked highly in the search engine algorithms. Search Engines will rank your page higher because in most cases linked text is relevant to the current page.

Link to relevant sites

When linking to relevant sites, try and use sites that are higher ranked than you. I found that a mixture of rank levels works well. try and choose wikis, blog post that are in the same niche, and research sites. As long as these links are relevant. Search Engine will rank you better. Don’t worry if the reader will come back to your site. If you have good readable content they will come back. If you do not, well…

Use internal linking whenever possible

Do not over do it. About every hundred and twenty words is a good number to use for internal linking. Internal linking should be treated as out bound linking using click about anchor text that flows with the content and not a ‘click here” link.

Original content

Only use original content, write for your readers first and the search engine second. If you write for your readers and follow the SEO tips then you will be writing for the search engines. If you write for the search engines first, then you will not have returning readers. But if you write your content as if you are a reader and give life then you will have returning readers.

Bold your keywords in the article

An old school tip I learned from my partner is to  bold your keywords in the article. Not all of them, but the more important ones. Search engines may see this as something important. Even if it does not, it will catch the readers eye and may get them to read more of the article.

Create a site map

Search engine spiders cannot crawl everything. If your entire site cannot be crawled, then your site will not be properly indexed. Site maps help spiders find and crawl all of your hard to reach pages.

These are just some of the tips I have learned for on-page SEO. Having a good SEO strategy starts with your site first. Once you have everything in place, then you can start your link building strategies.

After installing WordPress these are the best blogger tips I can share. I am assuming as you have installed WordPress you have already carried out your keyword research, so this blog post doesn’t cover the crucial stage of keyword research.

(Please note there are many alternatives to the plugins mentioned – I just mention the ones I use).

Tidy up/Design

1. Adjust your time zone under ‘general’ settings.

2. Change “Other comment settings” and check the “Enable threaded (nested) comments 5 levels deep”, in ‘Discussion’ settings. This helps highlight any replies to any comments and is easier for the visitor to read.

3. Get yourself a Gravatar that will be displayed whenever you comment. Having a Gravatar helps promote you and your brand across the internet.

4. Get and install a personally designed header banner. Personally designed header banners make your blog stand out.

5. Change the “Display name publicly as” field to your name – under the “Users” menu tab. Doing this will display your name as the author of the blog posts you publish.

6. Delete the default “Blogroll links” and “Mr Wordpress comment” – Under the “Blogroll” and “Comments” menu tabs.

7. Set up and install Google Analytics. The best free tool around to monitor your traffic stats.

8. Create an About Me page. You want to share a little about you and what you can do for your visitors.

9. Create a Contact page, so visitors can easily make contact with you.

10. Have a Favicon designed and installed – it’s all about your personal branding.

11. Delete the “hello world” default blog post.

12. Add a Privacy page. This is the page where you tell your visitor what you do with any data they give you.

13. Add a Disclaimer page. You also need to add a ‘Disclaimer’ page. This is the page that stipulates what you mention on your blog may not suit everyone and not everyone will get the same results.

14. Add an Affiliate Disclosure page. I believe in being totally open and honest with my visitors. If I am going to make some income from someone clicking on a link on my site, I like to tell them and so should you. This page should tell your visitors that you make an income using affiliate links on your blog.

15. Move to a premium theme. Those free WordPress themes are very ‘clunky’ – hard to change, difficult to maintain and restrictive in their design. For the best premium themes check out this post: Premium WordPress Themes

SEO

16. Add a blog title and tagline that includes your primary keyword phrase in the ‘General’ settings.

17. Change the ‘permalinks’ (‘permalinks’ under ‘settings’) structure to a custom structure: /%post_id%/%postname%/ This structure is deemed the best for SEO purposes.

18. Set up your categories using your keyword phrases. Again this helps with SEO.

19. By using the Google Webmaster tools, you can quickly get your blog indexed. Verifying ownership of your Blog via the Google Webmaster Tools.

Traffic

21. Change the ‘Update Service’ under the ‘Writing settings’ to include the following sites:

22. Add a FeedBurner RSS Feed so visitors can be automatically informed when you add a blog post.

23. Also allow subscription to your blog via email.

24. RSS Directories. Performing this will make your blog index quicker in the search engines and can provide a steady stream of organic traffic. RSS Directories hold millions of links to websites and blogs and are some of the most visited websites on the internet.

By adding your blog’s RSS feed to the RSS Directories, every future blog post you add to your blog, will automatically be added to the RSS Directory. And that means it could potentially be seen by thousands of visitors and your blog will receive a powerful backlink from the RSS Directory.

You only have to add your blog’s RSS feed to the RSS directory once and everything is set up to work automatically.

25. Start building your list by giving something of quality, away.

26. Start adding valuable comments on other blogs – get your name out there.

27. Add unique blog posts as least 3 times a week to your blog.

Security

28. If you have used FTP to upload WordPress – store/remember your ftp login details. You can waste hours looking for access details.

29. Change the password of your WordPress Admin login. Some hosting sites provide the password when you first install WordPress – change it – you just never know who has also seen it.

30. Change the WordPress admin username – most hackers know that ‘admin’ is the username and then they only have to guess the password. Make it twice as hard and change the admin username to something other than ‘admin’

31. Keep WordPress and your plugins up to date. Often WordPress and plugins are updated due to security reasons. Keep your site updated on the latest versions. Make sure you backup before you upgrade and test after your upgrade.

32. Add the Akismet and WP-SpamFree Anti-Spam plugins to reduce the amount of spam comments you receive.

33. Install the ‘Subscribe to comments’ plugin so visitors return and can reply to other commenters.

34. Show some Google Link Luv by installing the CommentLuv, KeywordLuv and DoFollow plugins.

35. Install the All-In-One-SEO plugin and include your primary keyword phrase in the ‘Home Title, ‘Home Description’ and ‘Home Keywords’.

36. Install the Google XML Sitemap plugin and manually build your sitemap. It helps get your site indexed.

37. Add the WP-DBManager plugin and schedule backups to be created everyday.

38. Make Better Use of the 404 Page – automatically redirect the reader to a list of your best posts or you can present them your entire post archives. The  404 SEO plugin will help.

39. Improve the security of your blog by installing Login Lockdown.

40. Install a caching plugin like WP-Super-Cache to make your blog load faster.

41. Install SexyBookMarks plugin so visitors can easily socially bookmark your blog posts.

42. Install the “SEO Friendly Images” plugin. SEO Friendly Images is a Wordpress optimization plugin which automatically updates all images with extra search engine optimization functionality.

43. By installing the “MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer” plugin, when you create a new blog post, your blog will ping and notify all the ping services that it has been updated. This encourages search engines and different blog directories/services to index your updated blog properly.

So there you have 43 blogger tips which will help your blog receive more visitors, more natural traffic, be a more ‘sticky’ (i.e. visitors stay longer) site and quickly indexed by Google.
