WE ARE OPEN! On November 18, 2020, Oregon Governor, Kate Brown instituted a 2 Week Freeze for retail and other industries. How does it impact High Desert Frameworks? As a retail business, we are allowed to stay open but are limited to 75% capacity of our retail showroom. This means we can see no more than 2 groups of people with a max of 4-5 people in the showroom at any time. We can help you with your digital printing and custom frame designs and will work with each of you based on the state requirements. There are no changes to the requirement of face coverings and physical distancing requirements of 6 feet or more. We will let you know where you can wait. Megan: A local favorite in Central Oregon

High Desert Frameworks is honored to host Megan on our outside patio - Please take this opportunity to safely meet and chat with Megan about her love of art and her artwork!

When: Monday, August 17, 2020 - 10 am to 2 pm

Where: High Desert Frameworks’ outside patio located at 61 NW Oregon Avenue Suite 101, Downtown Bend! We are located between Visit Bend and FedEx Office on Oregon Avenue!

This is the perfect time to pick up some new art prints and walk inside to get your framing process started right away! Megan will be slingin' prints in a variety of sizes, postcard books, camping logs, 2021 calendars, greeting cards, and stickers! We are excited to see you on Monday!

This is by no means easy times for most artists, musicians, and all types of businesses small and large. There is no question that the art show circuit in Central Oregon has impacted our local artists and the economy. Now is an extremely important time to support artists like Megan. We hope you can attend on Monday.

We reached out to Megan and asked her to jot down some thoughts on the impact of the pandemic and how it has changed her business, passion for art, and our community. The following is an upbeat and honest response to our questions. We hope you enjoy and please share our post with your friends and neighbors.

Our questions to Megan

Other than the health concerns and staying safe, what is the biggest impact from COVID 19 for you and your creative process? 

MMM: As with any small business during this time, the COVID 19 pandemic has unleashed a multitude of unexpected challenges over the last 5 months. When businesses began to close, events and shows were canceled, and we all started keeping our distance, I was surprised at how meaningless the art-making process began to feel. Or rather, I was surprised at what was so obviously missing. Without the opportunity to share the artwork with our community, the process and the work itself was incomplete. 

Your summer is typically filled with shows and events.  How have you fared this summer?

MMM: This summer’s challenges underscored the fact that the most vital part of my process is connecting with my community face-to-face. The meaningful one-on-one conversations at events with customers, other artists, business owners, and art-lovers are a profound source of joy, inspiration, and valuable feedback. To share the physical work and to look into another human’s eyes and share our appreciation for the things that move us is something that simply cannot be substituted by social media posts and online stores. 

How has the virtual world of communication impacted you and how are you staying connected to your customers?

MMM: I am awfully introverted, so I’ve never been one to gravitate towards teaching, making videos, or speaking in front of an audience, online or otherwise. The idea of shifting into this realm felt uncomfortable and inauthentic to my nature. Instead of pouring precious and depleted energy into those types of endeavors over the last few months, I used the time to make new paintings with the hope that once we could come together again in the community, I would have some new artwork to help us lift our spirits. I also used the time and work to support other businesses and causes in any way I could in hopes of inching us all forward and staying connected. 

What’s the near future hold for you, your art, and what opportunities do you see? 

MMM: So here we are now, re-opened and learning more and more about the precautions we can take to keep ourselves safe and healthy while venturing out into the world.  While all of the highly attended public events where I typically share my work have been responsibly canceled I’ve been overwhelmed with the generosity and thoughtfulness of Bend businesses who have hosted me to pop-up outside of their spaces. These opportunities are keeping me afloat and once more, they are adding the final and most important component to the artwork process: connection with each other. Personally, there has been no other time in my life where I’ve turned to music and art more urgently for relief and comfort. I deeply hope that being out in the community and sharing my artwork this summer at small and intimate outdoor venues will provide respite to my friends and neighbors during this time too. 

If you had a magic wand or red ruby slippers what’s one thing, outside a cure for COVID 19, you would change? How would that change impact you and our community?  

MMM: I think everyone is looking to get back to a more normal. My community and my customers are the heart of my work;  I just feel so fortunate to get opportunities like this to share time and art together. If there is one thing I could change would be getting back to our normal and even more sharing as soon as possible.

We are open normal hours and providing our full range of services including retail sales, custom framing, digital services such as scanning, digital photo restorations, small and large format printing. You do not need an appointment but can request one at: https://bit.ly/HDFW_Appointment…

We encourage you to set up an appointment as we have limited customer seating. Go to the head of the line with an appointment.

Safety is our top priority for you, our employees, and the community. This is non-negotiable and we ask that you take part in working to help us achieve the safest, enjoyable, and productive experience.

For our returning customers, you know we will have a hoot and will experience the best custom framing and digital printing in Central Oregon.

We have fully sanitized our retail storefront and scheduled enhanced cleaning several times a day and after every customer visit. We have posted signs approved by the State of Oregon with information on COVID-19 avoidance, symptoms, and proper sanitizing. As of May 15, 2020, when we work with you we will wear face coverings as dictated by the County and the State of Oregon. You can elect not to wear a face-covering as we do not require it for our customers. We have hand sanitizing dispenser, nitrile gloves, sanitizing wipes, tissues, and single-use pens for your use. Specific areas of the shop are off-limits including our restroom. We will inform you of the area in which you may roam, marked by blue tape. Please respect the boundaries. If you need to look at moulding and mat samples on our design table we will invite you to look/approve and also ask you not to touch. At all times we will enjoy at least a 6 foot distance. Our design consultations over the last several weeks have worked great and our customers are extremely pleased with our processes, procedures, and safety protocols. Thank you for your understanding during these times and we all get used to getting back to near normal.

Our Social or Physical Distancing Policy

• Each party (That means you and us … AKA “we”) are responsible for participating in this policy — It takes two to tango (at least 6 feet apart) and want both of us to participate in proper social and physical distancing!

• If either party is feeling ill or has the symptoms of cold, flu and/or Covid-19 they will notify the other party and cancel the appointment and seek necessary treatment as warranted. Visit: Symptoms

• Each of us will arrive at our appointment with washed and sanitized hands. We will practice proper hygiene including coughing/sneezing and proper disposal of tissues etc. Visit: Stop the Spread Read how High Desert Frameworks is handling the sanitizing of our shop and our cleaning after every customer use: Our Response This pages also provides updates as needed.

• As of July 1, 2020 … You are required to wear masks, face shields or face coverings at this location unless an exemption applies. We will wear face coverings as dictated by the County and the State of Oregon.

• As of May 16th, our door is unlocked. We encourage appointments ( https://bit.ly/HDFW_Appointment… ) Only one customer is allowed in our shop at any given time. The exception would be a cohabiting couple or family. We have a touch-free dispenser with hand sanitizer available and ask that you use the sanitizer when you walk in.

• Specific areas of the shop are off-limits including our restroom. We will inform you of the area in which you may roam, marked by blue tape. Please respect the boundaries. If you need to look at moulding and mat samples on our design table we will invite you to look/approve and also ask you not to touch. At all times we will enjoy at least a 6 foot distance.

• We have hand sanitizing dispenser, nitrile gloves, sanitizing wipes, tissues, and single-use pens for your use.

• When paying by credit card we will sanitize your card and ask you to sanitize your hands after the return of the card. You may use one of our new, never used single-use pens to sign the receipt and either keep the pen or dispose of it.

• High Desert Frameworks can carry completed work to your car or to our front door. We will work with you on making sure your framed project or digital prints are delivered safely. At all times we will enjoy a 6-foot distance.

• As with any social interaction anywhere including interaction with High Desert Frameworks, we can not guarantee any transmittal of illness including the flu, cold or Covid-19.

High Desert Frameworks offers Pickup/Delivery options. Our Social Distancing policy extends to this service as well. High Desert Frameworks may, at any time, change, modify or cancel our Social Distancing Policy. Pursuant to Oregon Governor Brown’s Executive Order 20-12 High Desert Frameworks has established this written policy and assigned an officer of the company to enforce such policy. By attending an appointment or pickup/delivery appointment you agree that you have read and agree to High Desert Frameworks Social Distancing Policy.

Wash Your Darn Hands Please!

We are using this post to keep you updated about the impacts of COVID-19 to High Desert Frameworks, open hours, pickup and delivery options along with other topics of importance. Please visit this post as we will update it as things change. The banner bar on the top of our website will link to this post until it is no longer necessary.

As we continue to remain open, we work to keep ourselves and shop sanitized along with practicing the catch work phrase of “social distancing.” If you have projects feel free to call. November 18, 2020: WE ARE OPEN! Oregon Governor Kate Brown instituted a 2 Week Freeze for retail and other industries. How does it impact High Desert Frameworks? As a retail business, we are allowed to stay open but are limited to 75% capacity of our retail showroom. This means we can see no more than 2 groups of people with a max of 4-5 people in the showroom at any time. We can help you with your digital printing and custom frame designs and will work with each of you based on the state requirements. Our Ask: As sons and daughters of veterans and parents of a service member we ask you remember those that paid the ultimate price for the security and safety of our democracy. Memorial Day was set aside to honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. On this Monday please take a moment and honor those soldiers. Thank you!

May 15, 2020: We are open normal hours and providing our full range of services including retail sales, custom framing, digital services such as scanning, digital photo restorations, small and large format printing. We have fully sanitized our retail storefront and scheduled enhanced cleaning several times a day and after every customer visit. We have posted signs approved by the State of Oregon with information on COVID-19 avoidance, symptoms, and proper sanitizing. As of May 15, 2020, when we work with you we will wear face coverings as dictated by the County and the State of Oregon. You can elect not to wear a face-covering as we do not require it for our customers. We have hand sanitizing dispenser, nitrile gloves, sanitizing wipes, tissues, and single-use pens for your use. Specific areas of the shop are off-limits including our restroom. We will inform you of the area in which you may roam, marked by blue tape. Please respect the boundaries. If you need to look at moulding and mat samples on our design table we will invite you to look/approve and also ask you not to touch. At all times we will enjoy at least a 6 foot distance. Our design consultations over the last several weeks have worked great and our customers are extremely pleased with our processes, procedures, and safety protocols. Thank you for your understanding during these times and we all get used to getting back to near normal.

May 10, 2020: A very happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there! Today is not your typical go out and get brunch type of day. We trust that you made a fantastic Sunday morning brunch for the Mom in your life. If you were unable to visit face to face we hope you have a great chat by phone, zoom, or facetime. These are very different times but it also means we just need to improvise, keep positive, be thankful, and encourage everyone to make the most of every moment.

As most Oregonians already know, Governor Brown and our local County are opening sections of retail stores and other aspects of the economy on May 15th. There are still some questions needing clarification on exactly what “open” means and as we get more information we will update this post.

On May 15th we will open our doors for walk-in traffic but we strongly recommend you book an appointment. If you have an appointment you will be at the head of the line and not have to wait to be allowed into our shop. We can only allow 1 person or 1 family group in the frameshop at any one time. Our retail shop is sanitized several times throughout the day and after every customer visit. We have touch-free dispenser with hand sanitizer available and ask that you use the sanitizer when you walk in. Some recent news … High Desert Frameworks announced the opening of Central Oregon’s online digital printing and framing portal located at: WWW.FRAME.PICS From Frame.Pics you can upload your digital image, crop, size and then submit for printing on a number of different mediums including photo paper, canvas, metal prints and more. We expect to offer our upload and quick framing options very shortly.

March 23, 2020: Today Monday, March 23rd we are open and waiting for Gov Brown’s directive. Open 10am to 5:30pm - regular hours. We will update you as things change. March 20, 2020: We are open running normal hours. Our suppliers are still shipping and we are still working. As we are a shop with limited public contact we plan on being open and the recommended process to ensure a safe and clean environment.
