Ole granny has been busy, let me just tell ya right here and now!

There is a loooooootttt goin’ on at this here Texas ranch. As ya can tell from this here post, we got a big piece of ground plowed up fer growin’ all kinds of food (fer us and the critters!) and then we got another piece of ground plowed up fer an herb garden and yet another spot fer nothin’ but berries!

I’ve also been a workin’ on remodelin’ my house – which is a mighty big job in itself! Down to the studs and wirin’, I tell ya now! And plumbing from scratch. Phooey! Ole granny is plum TARD!

I had to stop and take time to repurpose some drawers from the cabinets we tore out. They make perfect little green houses, they do!

I just painted ‘em all different colors with some leftover paint I had layin’ here and there.

Then I cut plastic to fit inside the drawer and stapled it in place, filled it with organic starter soil….

And planted some heirloom, organic seeds inside!!

I cut and stapled plastic to fit over the top to make a greenhouse effect (and to keep the rain from a washin’ away all my hard work!

And there ya have it – a hillbilly dresser full of goodies: organic, heirloom lettuces, basil, spinach, heart ease (viola)

This is temporary set up ‘till I get ‘em up and growin’ and to keep the north wind off of ‘em. Then I’ll find another way to display the drawers in the yard. What do y’all think?

Ain’t that there hillbilly dresser just nifty as can be?!

Oh and while I had my paintbrush out, I got carried away and spruced up my plain ole concrete bird bath. Ain’t it purty?

See this here purdy pile of recycled boards and chicken coop? Well, that’s all a mighty big blessing!

Ya see, we were out one day and happened up on a movin’ sale. The folks who were a movin’ were kind as can be. They talked real nice-like to us and made us feel like we were just a part of their family – they even gave us all these boards to use and this here nice house fer our chickens.

Right fine folks, they are!

We’re gonna fix it up right fine, we are. And make our hens real comfy.

If we make the hens happy, they’ll gives us lots more….

We’ll be overloaded in these here vittles. I see omelets galore – eggs fixed ever way imaginable!

And if’n ya feed yer chickens organic flax seedthen they’ll lay ya some rich, omega eggs! Golden eggs, I say!

Old Granny here has used this recipe fer years and it works like a charm for me and my bunch. It has a stout taste but if ya get to choose feelin’ good over feelin’ plumb awful, then it’s best to pull up your big boy or girl britches and just drink up!

Put it this way if ya don’t like how healthy stuff tastes: Do ya wanna taste sumthin’ that might not be to yer likin’ but’ll make ya well – or do ya wanna taste sickness or even death? That makes yer choice easy!

Feel Good Tonic

Stuff ya need:

1/4 cup raw honey

1/4 cup raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar with mother

1/2 teaspoon organic cayenne pepper powder

How to fix it:

1. Put yer honey, vinegar, and cayenne in a jar or bottle that has a lid. Shake it all up.

2. Y’all grownups can take a tablespoon several times a day. Youngin’s can take a half teaspoon to a teaspoon 1 – 3 times a day dependin’ on their size and age.

3. Ya can leave it in the cabinet or put it in the fridge if ya like yer medicine cold.

These ingredients help kill the germs that are makin’ yer throat sore and makin’ ya sick. And it always gives us energy too!

Honey-Cinnamon Soother

And if ya have been coughin’ and harkin’ and gaggin’ and yer throat is real sore ’cause of it, ya can try this little remedy to soothe yer tender, achin’ throat: 1 tablespoon honey sprinkled with organic ceylon cinnamonand warmed up. It’ll give ya relief like ya wouldn’t believe!

Here’s all the stuff you’ll need to stock up on so you can chase those ickies away!

Most folks don’t wanna talk about poop. It’s a dark topic. Ha! Ha! But listen now…  I wanna talk to y’all today about spring cleanin’ yer body.

Now, think about this here little fact: Ya spring clean yer house. Ya spring clean yer yard. Ya may even spring clean yer car. Why on earth wouldn’t ya want to spring clean yer dirty ole body, eh?

Folks in the old days used to spring clean with things like dandelion tonic fer cleansin’ their liver and helping ’em feel strong and ready for a brand-new season of gardenin’ and other hard work. That’s a story fer another day though – but ya’d better believe I’ll be tellin’ ya all about dandelion cleansin’ too!

Today, I’m a needin’ to tell you about cleansin’ yer dirty colon and why you’d wanna do that. I have a favorite product I have used and recommended fer years: Dr. Natura.

I’ve took Dr. Natura products and given ’em to my family when they was ailin’ fer years now. I always tell everbody ’bout this here colon cleanse kit when anybody starts a tellin’ me they’re feeling terrible all the time and can’t get well.

A few side effects and illnesses caused by a dirty colon that’s needin’ a spring cleanin’ are:

• headaches
• body aches and pains
• allergies
• depression
• and more!

The reason a dirty colon causes these things is ’cause all them there toxins get trapped inside ya (when they can’t get out yer poop shoot!) and then they’ve got nowhere to go! So they build up and back up on ya and cause ya to hurt and get trapped and cause ya headaches and depression.

Now not only do ya’ll spring clean everything but yer own body (the only one ya got in this lifetime!) but ya wouldn’t keep on usin’ a toilet that wouldn’t flush, now would ya? No! You clean yer toilet. And if it stops up, ya call in a plumber to get them there clogs out of the drain and get it in right workin’ order again befer ya use it.

Ya seem what I’m a sayin’ here, folks?

Clean yer pooper out. Yer life depends on it!

The handsome dog ya see in the picture is Sporty. Our Amish neighbors in Missouri gave him to us when we lived on our Amish farm – and he’s a hoot. We love him to pieces.

Our critter family is a growin’ and today it grew even more – one of our nanny goats had twin kids!

How have y’all been? Tired of this long winter, I am! I’m ready to dig in the dirt, sweat, and breathe lots of fresh air!

On a serious note, I ain’t been blogging ‘bout herbs lately’ ‘cause I’ve been busying myself helpin’ the homeless in these here parts.

Fer Christmas, we took some goody bags to the homeless. This wasn’t fer necessity, but to let ‘em know they aren’t fergotten. A many of ‘em nearly dropped their purty bag of bread, cookies, and candy, when they saw that there Christmas card just fer them!

Now, we’re also workin’ on the necessities – we’re makin’ toiletry bags fer the homeless. They’re needin’ all kinds of stuff to make ‘em feel good and clean and loved!

We already taken ‘em some crocheted and fleece scarves and hats.

Prayer Pillows

Kevin, a homeless man, gave us his permission to share his story with y’all so you can see that all homeless aren’t addicts, alcoholics, or mentally ill. A lot of people are homeless these days ‘cause they lost their job and ain’t been able to find more work, that’s all.

We’re also workin’ hard on raisin’ money fer Momma’s Houses. I want to be them there folks’ momma and help get ’em back on track.

We need at least $80,000 to buy our first building. We’re still needin’ $79,928.22 to reach our goal. Our electronic fundraiser ends January 27th – we’re in a hurry ‘cause we don’t want someone else to get the building and because the homeless are out in them there bitter cold streets, a freezin’!

Ya can’t just give ‘em an herb or cup of hot tea, we need to heal their heart and troubles and get ‘em on their feet!

Cherry Walnut Movin’ Muffins

Unsweetened Dried Tart Cherries

Tart Cherry Juice

Cherry Walnut Muffin Recipe

2 cups stone-ground muffin mix (or flour of your choice)

1/4 cup King Orchards Dried Tart Cherries, unsweetened

2 tablespoons King Orchards Tart Cherry Concentrate

1/2 cup water

1 farm fresh egg

1 banana, mashed (or in chunks)

1/2 cup molasses

1/2 cup walnuts (or nut/seed of your choice)

1/4 cup oil (I chose coconut oil, you can use your favorite)

Banana Lovin’

Fer all you monkey people (like my husband and son!) you can throw a banana in the batter.

Tart cherries are a healthy whole fruit that is high in fiber, potassium, beta carotene, and antioxidants. One-quarter cup of dried cherries has 15% of the RDA for fiber. Cherries also contain potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium, vitamins A, C, B6, E, and folic acid. Tart cherries have virtually no fat and no sodium. This is a wonderful high-antioxidant, bowel-movin’ muffin loaded up in vitamins, minerals, and lots of other goodies.
