Since the launch of the Janet Certificate Service in 2009, over 21,000 certificates have been issued to UK research and education organisations.
Over this time, we have continued to make enhancements to ensure it offers our community the best level of service, Recently, this has included the implementation of an additional security measure, Domain Control Validation, and the ability to use our certificates on systems conducting financial transactions.

The new website is a dedicated resource for all teaching staff that showcases sessions available from Janet registered Content Providers. The functionality of this dynamic website makes it easier for you to search for sessions by subject, key stage or by content provider. You can also set up tailored RSS feeds and find out about upcoming sessions.

UK researchers’ and educators’ demands for high performance computing are now secured until at least 2022, thanks to an initial £30m e-infrastructure investment from the UK Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and the higher and further education funding councils.
The University of Leicester today announced the launch of a new cloud platform that will allow its researchers to collaborate more effectively and efficiently.
Mary Visser, Director of IT Services at the University of Leicester said:
‘‘We are hoping that Intelligus will help our research communities collaborate, exchange ideas and share information in new ways that work for them.”
The London 2012 Olympic Games will be showcasing the use of new technology in practice, marking the first truly digital Games in the UK. From 23 July to 12 August, Janet will be enabling the BBC and NHK to use the Janet network to broadcast key moments of the Games in Super Hi-Vision at various locations the UK, and around the world.

Janet is helping the sector harness the benefits of cloud-based Microsoft Office 365 for Education (Office 365), through initial legal support and by agreeing a customised set of licensing documents with Microsoft, saving the sector time and money.
A number of universities have worked with Janet in the production of this pack, which is being made available to the HE and FE sector. This will help those in the sector move to collaborative cloud services for staff, student and alumni, for email, document storage and calendars.
Janet is delighted to announce the appointment of Mark Wright (FCA MBA BSc) as the new Finance Director from 1 August 2012.
