	KLAMPERT: There isn’t a song on here I don’t like. Absolutely brilliant! ★★★★½ BYRD: There are a bunch of guys at our church whose goal is to get me into Tower of Power. I think I’ll get them into newWORLDSON! ★★★½ MAHONEY: In the words of Randy “The Dawg” Jackson, this thing is HAWT! ★★★★½ VANCE: There is some groovy songs on here, especially the current single, “There Is A Way”. ★★★½
Vicky Beeching EP
	KLAMPERT: Simple as this…It’s an EP. Vicky only had 3 songs to convince me that I want to spend my $9.99 when her full CD comes out. After hearing the EP I’d pay $29.99 to get the rest of it if I had to. ★★★★½ BYRD: The EP has me! Hook, line, and sinker on the musicality, beautiful vocals, singability, and some solid content. Come on full length! ★★★★½ MAHONEY: Get this EP, and prepare yourself for what has to be a great album, Eternity Invades. Vocals, hooks, lyrics… it’s all there. ★★★★½ VANCE: Based on the three songs here I am really looking forward to the album release! Get the EP now to tie you over in the meantime! ★★★★½
Passion: Awakening
	KLAMPERT: It’s Passion. It’s amazing and BIG. The UNITED cut is cool, but it’s wicked long and I would have rather had two new UNITED songs. Crowder track is pretty cool as well. So it is worth a buy, but I can’t say I love this whole CD. ★★★½ BYRD: It’s just hard to look past the talent coming out of the Passion camp and Awakening seems to have been bathed in the Holy Spirit at Passion 2010 and aired out to dry for us worship in our cars, at home, and at church! And with only 3 previously released tracks this is a feast! ★★★★½ MAHONEY: A good worship album, especially if you like Chris Tomlin. Rating: ★★★½ VANCE: A good few of my favourite artists are on here! Rating: ★★★★

I’m still loving Happy Day and it will probably be part of our Easter service set list. Never Let Go is still a favourite also. I thought God With Us was good this morning too, but I’ve thinking I need to phase that one out for a while. I’ve had it in rotation for ages now.

We played Sweetly Broken for the first time this morning. I’m not sure if the middle of the set is a good place for a new song – probably not. I’ll have to see if I can get some feedback on this song.

How He Loves is great, however this morning after coming out of Sweetly Broken I began setting this song up for a train wreck. Thankfully Jon came to the rescue and we adjusted rhythm before starting into the song.

Setup went super smooth this morning and I think tear down was our quickest yet! This was the second week with our new setup time of 8am (previously 7.30am). We had lots of help today from everyone which was great!

STORYCHURCH is a new plant that launched in January of this year. We meet in Spring Valley Elementary in Durham, NC.

National Worship Leader Conference 2010

Thanks to the National Worship Leader Conference (NWLC), specifically Katie Finley over at the NWLC blog, I will be travelling to the NWLC East regional conference in October of this year.

It would be great to see some of you there. I have never been to the NWLC before, so I’m not sure what to expect yet, but according to their website, this is why you might like to attend:

LISTEN

accomplishments, personal struggles, discovery & experience.

your place in the ultimate Story, while communing with others who are on the same page.

His Presence as He makes all things new.

There are three conferences altogether. The Kansas City conference seems to be the largest by far, with two smaller regional conferences in Albuquerque, NM and Lancaster, PA.

June 15-17 in Albuquerque, NM
July 19-22 in Kansas City, KS
October 5-7 in Lancaster, PA

Keep a eye on this blog as I (and others listed below) should have some free tickets to give away in the coming weeks. We will also try to keep you informed of all the news on the conference itself.

STORYCHURCH Set List – 28 Feb 2010

The morning started off with some cold & flu medication and dry toast. I felt pretty crud. We had a full band this morning which is always good!

We started with Everlasting God (Brenton Brown) and followed that with Blessed Be The Name Of The Lord (Matt Redman).

After a short welcome and meet & greet, Jeremy brought a great message about Jesus selecting his disciples – Simon Peter in particular. God is very much into using people that society may overlook, or people that mess up from time to time!

The next set started with You Alone Can Rescue (Matt Redman), then God Of This City (BlueTree) and Before The Throne (Charitie L. Bancroft).

I just found out Before The Throne was written by an Irish lady Charitie L. Bancroft who was born in Dublin in 1841. I added a chorus I’ve heard Shane & Shane do at concert. I sang it a little low to fit better with the rest of the set (B), but it seemed to go well.

I have been making an effort to talk a little more through the set. I had some things in my head I wanted to say, but I’m not sure I communicated it coherently or not!! Blame the cold meds!

Justin Teseniar Band: Holding On To Hope

I’ve already mentioned the JTB release concert a while back on this blog.

This week I got my hands on a freshly mastered version of the new album – Holding On To Hope – which the band recorded and mixed in Nashville, TN.

Similar to my previous post, I hope we will have a full Joint review for you real soon, so think of this simply as an introduction.

The album contains 8 great songs with worshipful lyrics and singable melodies. Some of these songs will have you (or your congregation) on your feet, fist pumping for all your worth, and some will have you simply soaking in God’s presence.

I love meeting new people who are really passionate about worship and Justin Teseniar is definitely one of those guys.

You will learn this through his song lyrics, and if you ever meet him, you will know by his character – his love for God and the church is intertwined throughout his music.

The band are a great group of lads and I have loved the couple of times I got the chance to hang with them. This album is a big step in the right direction and I am certain massive changes are just ahead for them.

Jeremy Moore, who plays keyboard in the band, is currently helping me with my EP. I’m very thankful to him for that.

Dirt Poor Robins: The Last Days of Leviathan

I want to tell you about some new music that I’ve listened to recently. I hope we will have a Joint review for you in the next couple of weeks, so let me simply introduce you to them here.

I met Neil and Kate Robins last year up in Newport, RI. They were doing a concert with Sojourn at Joel Klampert‘s church. I was really impressed by them then and loved their work with Sojourn.

I happened to see Kate talk about rehearsing for DPR on her facebook last week. So I asked her what that was. ”Dirt Poor Robins“, she said. Ooooh.

A day later Neil got in touch about their new album releasing this Tuesday. Thanks to Neil I have a pre-release copy and it is really really good! I’ve just noticed tonight they have a previous album called The Cage that I must pick up!!

Kate and Neil have a sound reminiscent of Queen, Muse and a little Mika (think Grace Kelly) all thrown together. I love the whole style protrayed for this record and group – check out the photos on their website.

If you like beautiful, haunting vocals, intelligent lyrics and amazing rock guitar, you need to give this duo a listen.
