This week Chris chose Bring Me The Head of Alfredo Garcia, directed by Sam Peckinpah. There was some disagreement on the film’s quality, but one thing we could agree on: it does what it says on the label. Alfredo Garcia’s head being brought to someone is very much the driving force of the plot. I like a movie that’s upfront about its content is what I’m saying. Anyway, enjoy!

The Lost Podcasts #1: The Happening

So, we’re taking a week off here at the ol’ MPP, and you know what that means!
…or you will, after I tell you. It means it’s time for one of The Lost Podcasts! Y’see, most of the Motion Pictures Podcasters you’ve come to know and love have ‘casted before. I know, we said you were our first, but this doesn’t make being with you now any less special.

Despite keeping a rigorous schedule at the time, we managed to leave a couple of our original podcasts unedited–until now! Our all-too-frequently absent friend Sean Hurlburt took it upon himself to edit these oldies-but-acceptable-ies, and the first of the batch is M. Night Shyamalan’s widely panned film, The Happening.

This week we reviewed Robert Redford’s latest film, The Conspirator. It follows the trial of Mary Surratt (Robin Wright), the only woman accused of conspiring to kill Abraham Lincoln, through the eyes of her lawyer Frederick Aiken (James McAvoy). It also features a seemingly random cast, such as Alexis Bledel, Justin Long, Tom Wilkinson, Colm Meany and Kevin Kline. It’s been fairly ill-reviewed, but was everyone else wrong?
