Mardi Gras Parade & Shrimp Fest

Countdown to the 15th Annual PK MARDI GRAS PARADE & SHRIMP FEST!

Mark your calendar for Saturday, March 3rd. The PARADE begins at 3pm on Park Road 36. Come as a spectator or join the parade by simply completing a parade entry form and decorate your truck, trailer, car, golf cart or anything else you can dream of taking on the route. Awards will be given to the best business and individual float.

Take a quick break and join the fun at the ALL-You-Can-Eat Shrimp Peel at 6pm. The Shrimp Fest will take place at the PK Chamber building. Start off with all-you-can-eat shrimp with all the fixin's while enjoying the Crawdaddies Cajun Band. Mike Elmore will announce all the winners...best costume (glitzy and gaudy is the required dress!!) and the best parade float winners. We'll end the night crowning King Possum and Queen Carp and dancin' the night away!

Shrimp Fest tickets are available at the PK Chamber office. Ticket prices are Adult $22, Senior (62 & up) $15 and Children (10 & under) $10. You can purchase your tickets now and pick them up that night at the will call office, or tickets can be purchsed at the door after 6pm. BYOB, no glass containers and NO large coolers.

We have lots of fun Mardi Gras necklaces, hats, costumes, float decorations, throw beads and much more for sale at the PK Chamber office. Stop by Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm and we will open the store at about 10am the day of the parade. Stop by and take a look at all we have...lots of gaudy, fun and goofy stuff for sale.

6th Annual Possum Kingdom Chamber of Commerce party. Saturday, December 31st 8pm-12:30am. FREE...no cover charge. Southern Heritage Band performing. Halloween Fun For The Kiddos!

The PK Chamber of Commerce's western town of Possum Gulch gets real scary and the "truck or treat" lane provides the community a splendid way of delivering treats to the little spooks!

Decorate your car or truck and give out treats to the kids. The fun starts at 7pm...come join us.

The truck or treat line-up begins! Dress up the kids and trick or treat the "PK Way". Vehicles will be parked behind the PK Chamber building and will be ready to hand out treats. The Truck or Treat line-up is open to all adults wanting to decorate their vehicle and hand out candy.

Spectacular Spectacle! A spooky hayride behind the PK Chamber building. This will be a tour given to children & their parents (if they so desire to tag along). There will be a 1947 Fire Truck driven by a vampire accompanied by other monsters pulling a 20' trailer with hay bales doing the tours. Space available for about 25 folks. The tours will go as long as there is interest. No one will be allowed to get off the trailer during the tour. There will be fog machines, scary music and etc. Also on the tour...a haunted forest...so spooky!!

Public Boat Ramp Status - As of August 30, 2011..

The OPEN Boat Ramps are:

• North D & D ramp reopened

• South D & D - open

Sky Camp boat ramp, located off FM 2353 - east side - is open with a $10 ramp fee - phone # 940-779-2741

Golden Cove boat ramp, located at the end of FM 2951 - east side - is open - no charge - phone # 940-779-2922

Fox Hollow boat ramp, located off of FM 1148 - west side - is open with a $15 ramp fee - phone # 940-549-1801

Possum Hollow boat ramp, located off of FM 1148 - west side - is open to the public - no charge - phone # 940-549-1873

The CLOSED Boat Ramps are:

• Sandy Beach ramp closed

• Bug Beach ramp closed

As of August 24, 2011 the PK water level is about 8 foot low, which is good considering the conditions.
