Xantar on the other hand has gone “so hard” on the content that he’s already received the title Horde Breaker.

As our brave host Sigmandis journeyed through the lands of Arathi Basin he was brutally ganked by a group only known at the Ninja Turtle Allstars. We tried to find the groups guild website, but unfortunately they are too cheap to own one. We checked WoWProgress.com, but the guild doesn’t seem to raid. We checked PVP sites, but it appears the little turtles only PVP experience is ganking players that are at least 40 levels lower than them. Finally we found their armory page . We’re coming for you turtles…just wait for the dwarf’s to hit max level. You’re on the list!

In other news the hosts discuss ironically changes coming to PVP. We also check out some other small tidbits of news on 5.3 since there wasn’t much new to discuss. Xantar went into a very indepth discussion on mages giving feedback on every spec’s rotation, talent builds, and more. If you play a mage, this podcast is going to give you all you need. Just when we thought we had all the special news like the World of Warcraft card game Blizzard announced at Pax East hours before recording, a bunch of stuff got posted on 5.3! While we didn’t get to cover a lot of the 5.3 news, we did touch on it. Also a big thanks to Rho from the Realm Maintenance podcast and All Things Azeroth for joining us as a guest.

News Coverage:

• Race to World First: As of the recording we had several multi-way ties and Paragon leading the pack at 11/13. By the time you’re reading this things might have drastically changed so we suggest you check out the wowprogress.com homepage to get the most up to date information.
• PVP Changes: PVP seemed to be getting beat up a lot on gear changes, and players complaining about how Blizzard’s changes to even the playing field were destroying the PVP scene. To throw long time PVP players a bone Blizzard has created the “Glorious Tyranny” enchantment for players with an arena or rated battle ground rating of 2200 or higher. The visual effects are enough to make me want to get this, but it also comes with a big of enhancement. Check it out if you want something to aim for.
• Feeling like you never won anything on those extra loot throws in LFR or world bosses? You might get a chance to get anything from some useful profession items like cloth, all the way to rare mounts. So while that person on your team is jumping for joy at winning that tier belt you can mount up on your firehawk and ruin his moment of glory…ok well maybe you can’t get a firehawk, but the drops will definitely take the hurt off a failed roll.
• Upgrades: Blizzard has confirmed that upgrades will return for PvE gear in 5.3. PvP gear will not be able to be upgraded.

News Coverage:

1. Race to world first on Throne of the Thunder King! At the time of the recording Blood Legion was in 1st place, but the newly formed partnership of Exodus and Team Vodka (see story two) was nipping at their heels. Check out the leader boards at WoWprogress.com to check in on the action. Also of note the first wing of LFR is now open so if you find yourself without a group to raid with que up and check out some of the amazing imagery in the new raid.
2. Team Vodka was one of the most recognized US raiding guilds around. Many people were wondering why they weren’t popping up on the leader boards as the race kicked off for this tier. Amid a lot of confusion over them forming a partnership with a new guild and going by Evodus we found out they’re still raiding in this tier after merging with Exodus. The Mana Flask has an interview with the leaders of the new raid group and explain why the team is still under the Exodus name and why the merge happened. A great read to help those of you with dwindling raid groups as merging teams together is becoming a common thing as the game looses raiders.
3. Blizard developer Rob Pardo announced with this tweet that they will have an announcement at PAX East for Blizzards new game. Since the tweet specifically mentioned new game many gamers anticipated it might be the unveiling of Titan. Pardo quickly followed up with another tweet that states it won’t have anything to do with Titan so we’re back to guessing exactly what’s going on.
4. Our good friend Twizz from Twizzcast got one of the biggest gifts Blizzard can bestow on a podcast by allowing the Twizzcast crew to interview Ghostcrawler! Both of us wished him well and wanted to be there, but unfortunately it was during our own show time. Check out the recording here, you can bet we are.

• Xantar plays tour guide for me as I try to do my first run through on the daily quest hub. We talk about stuff like Zygor guide, dying (in game), and other random nonsense. 

Emails:

• Long time listener Dayfred calls in with a bad experience with a random group of rouges in a scenario. The two leather wearing throat slashers demanded our friend to heal instead of DPS and when he refused kicked him out of the group. A hunter later did the same and then complained about his DPS. Weatherspoon provides some feedback and says its not unusual for a balance druid to toss some heals, but it does really hurt DPS. I complain about how attitudes like the ones Dayfred had to deal with are killing the WoW community and driving away players and turning off people new to the game. Xantar gives some input form a mages point of view as well since rogues are nearly as squishy as mages. If you need some help learning your class (I look for it all the time) check out Icy-Veins.com in particular here’s a link to their detailed breakdown on how to play a balanced druid.

Sigmandis regrets taking a bet after Warcraft Less Traveled‘s host Skolnick informed him there actually IS a (alleged) Donkey Kong reference in the game. We played a clip from his show talking about it. We dove back into more 5.2 news, but this time it was more direct facts from Blizzard than just rumors. Xantar and Sigmandis had a back and forth on exactly how good 5.2 is going to be, and what its going to take for the patch to be considered successful. Just about everyone’s hearts stopped when in the middle of the PS4 announcement Chris Metzen walked onto the stage. Was it Titan? Then we learned Diablo III was coming to the PS4 and we collectively fell out of our seats with disappointment  Alas its not all sorrows in this episode! We learned that the PvP season will be coming to a close on March 5th, could that mean 5.2 drops on March 12th? We think so. Also some other juicy tidbits trickled in as we learned the last heroic boss in the Throne of Thunder raid will have limited attempts every week, and other 5.2 rumor knowledge nuggets. Lag, it is the enemy of all online gamers, and it has been terrorizing Time Warner Cable connected players in World of Warcraft. If you are a Time Warner customer and have been experiencing massive lag spikes in game please visit the offical World of Warcraft forum thread on the issue HERE and post your tracert to help customer service agents fix the issue. 

We covered several intersting news stories this week. First we told all of you the Fall of Theramore scenario is coming out Tuesday. Well, we were wrong, the scenario was released this Monday and has been live for quite some time by the time you’re able to access this post. We apologize.

We’re a bit suprised as Blizzard announced they are starting to test challenge modes in the MoP beta. Most players expected the beta to shut down last Tuesday the 11th of September, but the beta is still open. No word yet on when it will actually be closed.

If you’re reading this and its not yet 6PM CST on September 18th 2012…chances are it is past this time…but if its not head over to Best Buy’s website and join in on the moderated chat with Blizzard game developers to get more of your WoW related questions answered.

By the time you’re reading this I’m happily jetting off to enjoy what’s left of my summer on the Carolina coast. That being said since I’m one of those guys who leaves packing for the very last possible minute I’m scrambling to put these notes together so I can run off and pack my bag.

First I want to thank Jay from Stopcast for coming on the show. I owe him a lot as he’s the guy who gave me the technical know how to actually get this podcast off the ground. He’s also a fellow guild member of mine from the guild Violent Apathy, if you’re looking for a very social guild you should check out the guild website.

This has been a very hectic week. I picked up my golden retriever puppy Saturday and he’s great, except he likes to consider the apartment one large toilet. For those wondering my girlfriend and I decided to name him Arthas, yes, after the Lich King.

Holy Shatt welcomes Team Malice, a top 25 US guild, onto the show. With Dragon Soul really causing a lot of stress in guilds suffering from the no-new-content woes we decided it would be a great idea to get a hard core guild’s input on how to keep raiders happy, and keep everyone’s spirits up. You also will be surprised that a top 25 guild isn’t going to toss your application into the trash just because you didn’t come from a top 1000 guild. If you launched the beta client this week you might have noticed that you were suddenly faced with a massive download. No, that’s not a mistake. There’s been so many changes and features released that Blizzard re-released the entire beta…well ok we’re not sure how much got enabled, but you still have to re-download the entire client. We do know that the pet battle system has been unlocked and Sigmandis and Xantar plan to square off on next weeks show (had to postpone due to the download), and we also mention some portals that have appeared in the Panda capitol cities. Don’t worry we’re still a World of Warcraft podcast. Both of your hosts participated in the World of Warcraft annual subscription, so we’re busy enjoying our free copy of Diablo. Blizzard hasn’t had a lot of time to make any news worthy changes to the live WoW version, but we still have some beta news, AND a helpful WoW 101 article about getting your PC (or Mac) to run WoW better. 1. Both of our hosts haven’t spent much time in game. Xantar is already on Nightmare mode and Sigmandis is struggling to keep up in Normal Act II. He blames work and being a Witch Doctor.
2. World of Warcraft News
1. Blizzard has added some Pandaren emote voices to male Pandarens. We play a handful of them for you. Also a rather large spoiler is included in this section, but I won’t ruin it for you.
2. Cloud serpent dailies have been released on the beta. You can find out more by speaking to Instructor Skythorn at the Arboretum in the Jade Forest.
1. Xantar can not pronounce the word Arboretum.
3. WoW 101
1. Sigmandis gets the hickups because his fancy pants steak dinner gives him gas.
2. The hosts go into detail to explain some things you can do to your current system to speed it up for gaming, or if you’re in the market for an upgrade or new computer they tell you what to look for. Its cheaper than you think.

1. The hosts respond to Dafyed’s question about account wide progress towards large achievements like Loremaster. Xantar admits he was wrong, but the answer is a little more complicated than it seems.
2. Sigmandis admits he completely screwed up the dates when scheduling the one and only Twizz to come on the show. Sigmandis has promised he will get Twizz on the show, and that he will buy a calendar.
5. Contest Information
1. Sigmandis reminds listeners while he loves them all they can only win one time card every 30 days. The reason for this is the time card provides you with 30 days of WoW time so there should be no need to win one more than once every 30 days. He realizes that some people may have more than one account or wish to give it to a family member or friend, but the prizes come out of the host’s pocket and they need to make sure the prizes arn’t being resold.

Another apology for getting this episode up late. We’re still trying to get used to Logic Pro and Sigmandis decided to make his voice 10x lounder than Xantar’s on his recording so we had to pull a backup. We cover some newly released beta content, tell beginners how to use the Real ID system, and talk about Blizzard’s big announcement about cross-realm-zones. 1. World of Warcraft News
1. Finally Wrathion and his friends have had their purposes revealed. Madam Goya in The Veiled Star in Taverns of the Mist sells otherwise unpurchasable goods in a gold only auction. Things that can be found here (as speculated by items listed in the beta) rare mounts, tabards, pets, recipes, gear such as removed original naxx gear, etc. Ashes of A’lar started bidding at 20k! Cool new option for a gold sink.
2. Freshly datamined from the beta comes Druid armored feral forms for Bear and Cat! These things look wicked, and are very reminiscent of the Nordrassil druid T5 Set. This is for use with the new druid ability Incarnation. Mix that with the ability to glyph to make travel form a mountable stag, and Druid’s are looking pretty dressed up come mists!
3. New Pandaren dances! Males shuffle as per the LMFAO song, and females do the recently viral carameldansen motions.
4. Account level achievements. Most achievements will now be account level, so if you earn loremaster on one character, your account has earned it, and you can use the title on other characters. Some rewards will be level restricted (ie no riding Invincible at level 10), and things like reputation will still be per character. Progress of an achievement is not culminated together from multiple characters.
2. WoW 101
1. How to use real ID system
1. Real ID is a system that you can use to stay in touch with players no matter what Blizzard game they are playing. With Real ID you can chat with your friend no matter what toon or realm they are on. You can also use it to chat with your friends who play Starcraft or Diablo.
2. In the past the only way to add someone on Real ID was to get the email they use to log into their Blizzard account. Instead of typing in their toon name to add them as a friend you would type in their email address.
3. The problem with this old system is players didn’t want to give out their email address to friends in WoW. Also the old Real ID system would show the players real name.
4. The new system allows players to exchange battle tags. Battle tags allow you to have the same functionality as Real ID, but you are not able to see the players real name.
5. Real ID will allow you to do cross realm raiding, dungeons, and in MoP allow you to meet up in cross realm zones. You can also do cross realm battlegrounds.

Both Xantar and I am very sorry this took so long to get up. 10 minutes before the show I must have done something to anger the tech gods as nearly anything in my apartment having to deal with technology has been failing. Why 10 minutes before show you ask? Well that was the time the Macbook Pro that we use to record the show decided to die. Then the backup solution I had been working with Xantar on his end decided to not function correctly. Then my microphone boom’s table clamp decided to come apart, then the TWITCH.TV feed decided to break, then the shock wave plugin on all my web browsers decided to stop functioning, and finally when I came home from work yesterday my washing machine decided to die as well. So I was finally able to take the time to pull the TWITCH.TV feed into Logic Pro, try to dress it up some, and get it posted on the site. I’m even throwing in show notes!

Despite technical difficulties at the beginning of the broadcast the Holy Shatt crew pulled off a successful live stream. So really sorry that we didn’t get any show notes in last weeks post. Seeing as we didn’t get any emails I’m blaming it on the fact that I didn’t add show notes. This week we were entirely off script because the entire show was dedicated to talking about the Mists of Pandaria information that got vomited all over the internet.

So for those of you who don’t have the background on this I’ll give you a brief rundown. On Monday March 12th Blizzard started a Mists of Pandaria press tour. Major WoW sites and other publications were invited to talk with Blizzard employees about the upcomming expansion, as well as getting a huge briefing on MoP. All press participants had to sign a NDA or Non-Disclouser Agreement that made them keep their mouth shut until Monday March 19th. As soon as the NDA expired the web was set ablaze with information about mist and overall the news was positive. 

The Holy Shatt crew dives into the bulk of the information with promisses to go into details on things like zones in upcomming episodes. Please remember that all segments like WoW 101, 5 questions, and the live dungeon run do no appear in this episode because we wanted to spend the entire time going through the press briefing stuff.

So we promissed you last week a better insight into 3.4 and we kept our promise. Holy Shatt welcomes back Tam who decided he liked the new Dragon Soul raid so much that he’d just finish it in its first week. So a big congrats to the Entropy guild on Galakrond US for their normal Deathwing kill. Also from the Entropy guild we welcome the stabby rogue Melki who is very excited about a certain pair of legendary dagers for her class.

Making headlines this week was the latest exploit by a hard core raiding guild. Paragon decided they were going to manulipate the looking for raid feature to get themselves geared up for heroic modes very quickly. Blizzard has tracked down everyone who used the exploit and issued eight day suspencions. Do you feel like this was an acceptable punishment, or did Blizzard take it to easy? Do you think guilds like Paragon get preferred treatment and that its unfair, or are they treated like any other guild?

Not much was released by Blizzard this past week. Xantar goes a little more in depth on the two dungeons currently available on the PTR and Sigmandis makes more excuses for why he hasn’t downloaded the PTR client. Some more light was shed on the ‘Looking for Raid’ feature that is going to be released with 4.3 and the hosts analyze some of the benefits and drawbacks.

We also take a look at how trade skills and the auction house are going to be affected by 4.3.

While this podcast did have some general news and a quick email section most of the show was spent about the declining subscriber rate in World of Warcraft. My guest shared her reasons for leaving WoW for Rift (at least for the short term) and we shared our mixed opinions for this Blizzard did to help or hurt WoW.

Well I made it to Episode 3 so I guess its time to actually start marketing this podcast. In celebration I’ve started what will turn into a bi-weekly giveaway for a 60 day time card.
