]]> It’s hard to come up with a short description of what Bill Strickland does. But the long description is pretty amazing. Raised in a rough inner city neighborhood in Pittsburgh, Bill’s life took a turn in high school when he encountered the power of pottery and an art teacher who believed in him. He’s now the CEO of Manchester Bidwell Corporation, an organization with life-changing art programs for inner city youth and possibility-creating trade school.

He’s also the author of one of my favorite books, Make the Impossible Possible. He’s the catalyst behind the Grammy award winning MCG Jazz record label (also part of Manchester Bidwell). He was appointed by President Obama to the Whitehouse Council for Community Solutions  and by President Bush to the board of the National Endowment for the Arts. Oh, and he’s the recipient of a Macarthur genius grant.

]]> In 2006 Kevin Salwen and his family were living what they thought was the good life. Kevin, who had recently left his position as National Small Business Editor at the Wall Street Journal, was an Kevin Salwenentrepreneur starting up a media company. His wife Joan was a partner at Accenture. They lived in a beautiful $2 million historic Atlanta home and were, as Kevin describes it, caught up in “keeping up with the Joneses, the Feinsteins, and just about anybody else you can think of.”

So how did they end up selling that house, moving into one half the size, and using half the proceeds to do good in the world? That’s the story of The Power of Half, the book Kevin co-authored with his daughter Hannah (who was the catalyst for deciding to do that).

In this podcast, Kevin shares that inspiring story and offers insights on:

]]> I’m a huge fan of Byron Katie. Not because she’s famous, or because she’s a best-selling author, or any of the things that make her admiration-worthy in popular culture. I’m a huge fan because I know SO many people whose lives have been Byron Katiedeeply impacted in a very positive way by her work, just within the little bubble I occupy here on this planet.

When I think of the positive ripples that has created, it boggles my mind. And when I multiply that by the cumulative impact of all the people her work has touched, I can’t even wrap my head around it.

Making the world a better place is one of my prime sources of energy and inspiration. So I was completely psyched to have an opportunity to interview her as one of the first conversations in The Ripple Revolution Podcast.

As Katie sees it, her work is about one thing – ending suffering. The best-selling author of books such as  Loving What is, I Need Your Love – Is That True?, and A Thousand Names for Joy, she has touched millions of lives with a process called The Work.

In this podcast, Katie offers tips for finding peace and ending the suffering we so often inflict on ourselves. and explores the link between finding peace internally and making a difference in the world.
