Episode 25: A NEW DEFENSIVE RANKING GOAL?

You are LOOKING LIVE at the Section 27 Blogcast Podcast! The last time we had even a Top 25 defense was 2007. 26th in 2008, and progressively worse every year, in ypg and ppg. Will we get to that number 6 ranking in total defense in 2015 under new Defensive Coordinator Will Muschamp? Doubtful. Can we get to 23 where we were in 2006 under Muschamp? Absolutely. That 2006 team was undersized, yet gave up 13.9 points and ~297 yards per game. Even if our defense is averaging 21 ppg and 350 yards, that’s ~50 yards and 5 points less a game than 2014. A very likely improvement.

On a more serious note, our thoughts and prayers are with the Auburn family and the family of Jakell Mitchell, who lost his life in a senseless act of violence. It’s tough to wrap one’s mind around things like this. All we can do is keep those affected in our thoughts.
