SO LONG GUYS

I keep coming back to this but I really have to bid the blog goodbye. It's been a
great ride and I want to thank all the regulars who have been so stalwart in their
defense and loyal in their attendance. You guys were the only reason I kept coming
back. If I can relaunch this site, I will do so in a manner that will allow us to be
selective about who comes and goes. That's the only way to do it in the future.

Thanks again everybody. Most likely this link will disappear over the next week or
so.

See you guys down the line. Be strong, stand tall, take zero shit.

I had a blast.

Guys:

Good bunch of questions from everybody. Heartened by the fact that the last post wasn't
overrun by trolls save my favorite pattern bald bit player to the north, John Atkin and some
clown that's posting as 'JOE' and seems to know enough personal details about me to come off convincingly. Including my desire to only direct commercials from here and out.

Who told you that goddamit! The truth does burn!

Going to cut and paste these questions. May take a day or two to put up. Thanks again for the
submitting them and for the Regs endless defense of my character. You guys have been great.

DISPATCH FROM QUEBEC!

Guys:

GOD DAMMIT is it cold here to the north. Things are going brilliantly. Lighting out
for L.A. tomorrow and hopefully back here within the week. Fingers crossed, prayers
whispered, blood sacrifices promised, whatever it takes.

This thing, if it takes flight, is going to be great. I've seen some rough, ROUGH patches
of wilderness. I don't envy anybody who gets caught out there sans Ski-Doo and sterno
cans. Breathtakingly beautiful though. That's for sure.

Rabid hockey town here in Montreal. I've heard the Bell Centre is like a running rock show spectacle when the Havs are at home. I must experience this firsthand.

"DAY ZERO"

Guys:

My assistant uttered this last night on set and it stuck. We once again prove
why we are the greatest modern democracy on the marble. If that speech last
night didn't remind you what a REAL president should sound like, then you are
hopelessly, helplessly tone deaf. It's been so, so very long since I heard intelligence, eloquence
and strength from the pulpit of power. The seat of the presidency truly belongs to men
like Obama and last night he reminded us why. I don't think he has all the answers, just
the ones we need, right now.

This is when you can actually say 'I'm proud to be an American' and not have it sound
like the sh*tty hook to an even sh*ttier country ballad. The United States came correct last
night. It's what we always do when things are most bleak: Rehab, Rebuild and Relaunch.

A goddamn GREAT four years await...and I couldn't be happier.

Guys:

After reading the last round of postings, I've realized that indeed this blog
has probably run its course. Nobody stays on topic and I wind up issuing
challenges to asswipes like 'Les Munson' (who didn't have the guts to leave
the phone with me) and wasting valuable time. If you guys want me to keep
it going, great but I'm really going to have put something in place where you have to
use a valid e-mail account in order to comment. It'll cut down on the douches
immediately and I'm just done with that crap. It bores the living piss out of me
as I'm sure it does you. Let's act like adults or just call it a day.

WOLVES

Guys:

Going out to Lebec tomorrow morning which is about 2 hours north of L.A. to
Sled Reynolds' ranch. Sled is the preeminent animal trainer in Hollywood and he's
going to show us what wolves can do in terms of hitting a full grown man at speed
and devouring raw meat in pack mode. Pretty fired up. 'The Grey' is becoming a
reality more and more every day. The X factor for me with 'The Grey' is Sir Ridley, literally calling
and e-mailing studio folks on the hour, to get this snowball moving downhill. Between
him and Big Red (Jules Daly) if this thing gets the green, it will have really happened
inside of 2 weeks. Incredible.

I've got my lead and the studio too which puts us out in front of things.

Let's hope the wolves are as mind-blowing as promised. Have an illustration that was
done for us that I want to put up on the blog. Just need the permission of Aaron Sims,
a very talented artist, to post it.

MARGE GUNDERSON'S COUSIN GETS HER ASS KICKED

Guys:

Have you ever seen double-speak more poorly disguised in your life? What the hell
was Palin talking about? Those folksy, underfed platitudes landed with such a thud
versus Biden's relatively sure-footed statesmanship that it seem lopsided
from the opening bell. And what is with the pundits saying she put together a
'good showing?' Compared to what? Not eating her microphone? Not taking a
dump on stage? It's the GWB concession: If you normally suck but on occasion,
suck LESS, then you are to be commended and celebrated.

I was a pro-McCain, despite the GOP pedigree. His work on campaign reform was
impressive and he seemed like a legitimate throwback Goldwater Republican. I thought it was
going to be a tighter race until he hooked up with Nanette Of The North. That woman
acts like she comes from some mystical Tolkien/Capra gene-splice of f*cking Middle
America by way of frozen tundra. Where pleasant, wide-faced locals barter freshly
caught haddock for mukluks. Jesus. NO. She was like a distaff Bush, 'answering' in that
patented, aimless, empty-headed style where you repeat yourself over and over again.

Governance as gobbledygook.

We've endured eight years worth of that same sh*t. Enough is enough.

I'm not saying Biden was Johnny Smooth every step of the way but at least you could
follow his response, thesis to conclusion, without feeling like you were on the endless
background loop of an old Hanna-Barbera cartoon. I'm pretty sure most of the posters
on this blog, trolls included, could've mounted a more efficient, effective, easier-to-follow
verbal treatise for John McCain. What kind of defense of policy was that? She couldn't
answer how they would differ from Bush in ONE single category. The alarm bells have to
be deafening across the GOP if they're still half-assed interested in winning this race.

I'm not saying Obama has all the answers and you know what, we'll come to bitch and
moan about him plenty in future, I'm sure. Any port in a storm is where we're at now and
his looks the most welcoming and well-lit to me.

Thoughts on this? Am I being harsh on Palin? Did Biden not do as well as I thought? Is
McCain a lot smarter than he's letting on? Lemme know.

BAILOUT EQUALS BLACK GOLD. TEXAS TEA.

Guys:

Given Bush's lame, nay DEAD duck status with his congressional constituency and his
inability to rally support for the 700 billion dollar Wall Street bailout, his next best
and only option is to return to the ample, crude-soaked bosom of his one TRUE
constituency and the group which has profited most exponentially from his fiery
f*cking debacle of a presidency: Big Oil.

Exxon alone posts a 40 billion dollar annual profit. So get all those wildcatters and Saudi
shadow puppets together at the same poker table down in Crawford and ante the f*ck up.
The era of the American-Taxpayer-As-Piggy-Bank needs to be brought to an sudden,
shuddering halt. If some poor bastard carrying two mortgages on a farm house in rural
Kentucky and shouldering his share of the twelve billion a month being spent in Iraq can't
get some relief, then why the hell should we give it to the golden parachutes at Goldman
Sachs? Get F*cked is my only piece of advice for that lot. Welcome to a miserable,
pre-Depression economy and a country that you helped bring to its knees. Pull up a
chair, you're gonna be here for awhile. And this notion of needing this bailout to 'restart
the economy' is like asking an arsonist to join the bucket brigade and douse the f*cking
inferno that he helped light.

It's called 'Darwinism' some will survive, some will fall and we'll be stronger after.

Goddamit I'm mad. Feel free to vent boys and girls. If I'm off, then I'm waaaaaay off,
because this plan makes perfect sense to me.

NEWMAN

A giant has fallen. That's what flashed through my mind when my friend Brian Bloom
texted me about an hour ago with this. 'Newman. F*ck.'

I didn't want to check the net. I felt sick to my stomach.

There is what we consider the modern movie star and then there was Paul Newman.
His death has closed a door...and we will never see another one like him. He was
everything we consider when we consider the truly legendary. There's an amazing piece
on him in last month's Vanity Fair that shows exactly what kind of man he was: Both
selfless and sublime in his personal and professional lives. I recommend reading it.
It's really pretty staggering you when you take in the breadth of what he did with his
time on this planet.

We all crow about 'going green' and carbon emissions in the vast shadow cast by Newman's charitable and environmental efforts. When it was all said and done he'd donated nearly a quarter billion dollars to charities and set up camps in over 40 counties for kids with serious, life threatening illnesses.

People like that are irreplaceable.

I'm always asked in interviews, whom I would want to work with, living or dead and 'Paul Newman'
is always the first name I come up with.

I don't think that will ever change.

Please share your thoughts. Any memorable movies for you? Moments?

My personal favorite, Newman's turn as a downtrodden, alcoholic attorney in 'The Verdict' and it
comes at about the 3/4 mark in the film. Jack Warden is giving Newman a backrub and things are
looking pretty grim and Warden says 'There'll be another case...' and Newman says, three times, each one with more conviction 'There is no other case, there's only this one...' It's such a tremendous piece of film acting.

Gone but certainly not forgotten. I'm going to watch 'Cool Hand Luke,' tip and few back and go with
the misery for awhile.
