Over 100 students turned out for the event, filling up both classes that were offered. Students began the workshop by finding out there current reading speed. The average college student reads 150-250 words per minute (wpm).

Students attending the workshop learned basic speed reading techniques and took part in drills specifically designed to improve reading speed. By the end of the workshop, most students had made an improvement in their reading speed.
