As we mentioned earlier in the week, we are blessed to have a very special guest on the show this week to talk about Death of the Family. The one and only Scott Snyder took time out of his incredibly busy schedule to speak to us in depth about Batman, the Death of the Family arc and give us some inside information on what we can expect from him and Batman in the future.

If you have not read Batman: Death of the Family yet and you don't want the arc spoiled for you, do NOT listen to this show until you have gotten caught up. You'll definitely want to though, if for no other reason than to listen to Snyder tell us all about Batman from his point of view. Seriously.

Our big topic this week is Batman: Death of the Family, but don't fret if you haven't read all of the arc yet. The last half of the podcast is dedicated to the epic finale and the overall arc, but the first half is all of the Talking Comics stuff you've come to know and (hopefully) love.

We start off that first part of the show with the crew's Books of the Week, which include: The Highways, Avengers Assemble, Secret Avengers, Matt Fraction’s Fantastic Four, Batman and Robin, Uncanny X-Men, a little indie book called I’m Crazy (im-crazy.com) as well as Parable.

Make sure to check out our Batman: Death of the Family talk this upcoming Friday February 22. It's going to be full of spoilers, so if you haven't read the arc yet, you should do so ASAP because we'll be joined by a VERY special guest: the one and only Scott Snyder. You MAY have heard of him...

This week Stephanie steps out once again, and we are joined by the great Rob Newmire to talk about the comic book series and characters we are ashamed to admit we haven't read and some that we want desperately to revisit. Our lists include Sandman, Superman, Astonishing X-Men, and Garth Ennis' Preacher.

As per usual though, we also discuss our Books of the Week, which has more or less evolved into a talk about the books we've read in general (love, hate or somewhere in between). Some of the books we talk about this week include: Snapshot, Green Arrow, Fearless Defenders and The Killer. We also answer your listener questions, weigh in on Geoff Johns leaving Green Lantern and our thoughts on the latest DC cancellations.

This week we tackle one of our favourite topics: listener questions in a listener QUESTIONATHON! We got an almost overwhelming response from you all this time in just two short days. We can't thank you enough for all the love you give us and we try very hard to answer as many questions as possible. Always keep sending them in and if we can't answer them all on the show, we'll start answering them in a column.

As per usual though, we also discuss our Books of the Week, which has more or less evolved into a talk about the books we've read in general (love, hate or somewhere in between). Some of the books we talk about this week include: Insurgent #1, Batgirl #16, Justice League Dark, Batman #16, Revival #6, Saga #9, X-Factor #250, Threshold #1, All New X-Men, Daredevil #22, Savage Wolverine, Todd the Ugliest Kid On Earth, The Legend of Luther Strode, Captain America #3 and Valiant Comics.

Make sure to check in with us on Friday for an interview with Love and Capes creator Thomas Zahler and check back in again on Monday for an interview with return guest and Peter Panzerfaust creator, Kurtis Wiebe.

We’re back for our first show of 2013 (recorded in 2013, that is). We’ve missed you guys a ton and we’ve missed talking about our favourite Books of the Week, so that makes a triumphant return to the show and kicks things off. The list is surprisingly diverse and not much overlap is made, but it's safe to say that we all have pretty good taste in art, if we do say so ourselves (and we do...).

As per usual, the gang also tackles their Books of the Week and included amongst them are: Masks #1, Ghost #2, Before Watchmen: Silk Spectre #4, I Love Trouble #1, Locke & Key, My Little Pony #1, Starbright and the Looking Glass as well as Marvel NOW’s Deadpool, FF and Thor: God of Thunder.

You may have seen us tweet about Kelly Sue DeConnick and Michael Allred being on the show and while we DID record those shows tonight, they will be uploaded separately. You can check out Michael Allred on the podcast this Friday December 7 and Kelly Sue DeConnick on Monday December 10.

The gang are all back together and while Steve, Bob and Bobby are still recuperating from Hurricane Sandy, Stephanie is recuperating from finding a snake in her bedroom (she's had it with these motherf*cking snakes in her motherf*cking bedroom!). True story.

However, onto more relevant things, the Topic of the Week is based around a question. We all rag on the big companies putting out our favourite comics, but what would we do differently? For the sake of time and such, we've chosen one particular company to focus on and that's Marvel (who have, of course, just launched Marvel NOW).

But before we get to that discussion, first up is everyone's Books of the Week, which include: Batgirl Annual, Invincible, Steed and Mrs. Peel #2, X-Factor #246, Detective Comics #14, Marvel NOW's Deadpool #1, Legends of the Dark Knight and more!

A few years ago Bob Reyer wrote a radio play, it was produced by Bobby Shortle and was released under the Fanboy Remix banner. The cast featured Mr. Reyer, Bobby Shortle, Steve Seigh and also Jacqui Turner and Brian Verderosa of Doctor Whocast. It's a macabre Lovecraftian tale that we felt was very fitting for Halloween.

Can you believe it? We’re two shows away from a year of Talking Comics podcasts. We’re so incredibly honoured to be doing this and to have such an incredible fan base. You guys rock.

Putting our emotions away (until later in the show), this week’s topic is The Dark Knight Returns and what the comics world was like before and afterwards. Our resident guru, Bob Reyer gives us a little history lesson and tells what it was like to live through that era in comics.

As for this week’s Book of the Week, several things are discussed including: Catwoman, Batwoman, Y: The Last Man, Daytripper, Sword of Sorcery, Birds of Prey and a few others. I’m starting to think it’s more fun for you all to figure out who talked about what, so I’ll leave it at that.

Just about a year ago, the DC New 52 sparked an idea in Bobby’s head. An idea that would later become Talking Comics and the Talking Comics podcast.
*sniff sniff*
Not that we’re trying to get all emotional on y’all. Or maybe we are.

Back on the ranch… this week’s show is dedicated to the DC New 52. Since, again, it started this adventure, it was fitting to bring things full circle with a recap of our year with DC’s little experiement.

Of course, in addition to the DC New 52 comics we talk about, we discuss some interesting news stuff, Stephanie regales us with stories of where she’s been for the past couple of weeks (hint: whatever she says is a lie… she’s REALLY working as the vigilante superhero known as Shenanigirl) and the gang tell us their Books of the Week. Some of those comics include Love and Capes, X-Factor, Before Watchmen: Silk Spectre, Phantom Stranger, Wonder Woman, Metal Men and Fantastic Four. I’ll let you figure out whose favourites were whose from that list.
