As a fashion and editorial wedding photographer based in England and available worldwide, I’ve photographed countless weddings in a style that blends candids, posed editorial, and documentary storytelling. My own wedding package begins at £1,500 for 8 hours of coverage, which includes a luxury, professionally designed album delivered within two weeks of your wedding.

For my clients, the starting cost for my wedding photography cost is £1,500, with custom quotes available depending on the wedding’s needs.

Hey guys!!! i really do not know how to put into words how excited i was to shoot this beautiful elopement of this amazing couple (Chad & Bryant).

The wedding happened at the beautiful city of Bath, which had its history with the roman empire, and the location reflect all of the scenes i had seen in gladiatorial movies of the old. It wasn’t just the location but the couple themselves.

In the midst of it all, the couple was staring and smiling to one another, you could tell how much they love each other.

Here are some of the beautiful wedding images we made.

The lovely couple, knew this was my first time shooting this. They worked with me really well and accepted all my directions and poses which made the day go very smoothly and to top it up, we made a piece of art through the final images which they loved.

I appreciate couples who allow creatives to do what they want and I thank Chad and Bryant for choosing me to take part on their special day. Best wishes to Chad and Bryant!

Always remember “Love Always Win”

So i would like to share how i get models for my photoshoots

Firstly, i try getting models via modelling agencies which could be one of many ways to get a model, using this method, i send the agency an email explaining to them the type of shoot i want to do and send a mood-board alongside, so they can have a visual representation of the proposed photoshoot, while i await a response. If accepted, the modelling agency would send you models to select from (If it’s a first time reaching out, they would most likely send their new faces) and request you shoot a model Polaroid along side or shoot in a certain way that would fit into their style.

Secondly, i find models via search websites such as www.modelmanagement.com , purple-port and sometimes facebook groups. These websites can aid your search and have you streamline your model search based on what exactly you need such as the ethnicity, age, body type etc.

Thirdly, i get models via socials such as instagram, twitter and facebook. Social media these days gives us creatives the opportunity to reach out to one another effortlessly. Finally, your manner of approach does matter, as a well composed, direct and polite message could give you an edge towards getting a favourable reply.

Imagine going through the stress and creative barrier after investing a whole lot in creating a master piece and then you end up deciding to use “just any photographer” because you assume “everyone labelled a photographer do and deliver same thing”.

NO! all photographers or filmmakers are not the same, theres a difference in the experience, skill, time and resource invested in the craft. This term or narrative (thinking all creatives are the same) has been imbedded in quite a whole lot of people such as fashion designers, beauty or cosmetic brand owners, who have this perception and opt for any photographer, then end up making their product look like trash after all the investment made in creating them and therefore not making you reach your desired goals or reach your targeted market.

The idea behind this post is simply to educate the people or brands.

A photographer or videographer isn’t out there to rip you off with there prices, but this creatives basically put a price on their art and style, thereby giving you the price that best suit the project you bring to them. But because, the industry is crowded with lot of creatives wanting to get quick jobs at the expense of mediocre deliveries.

A client tend to get confused when comparing prices a professional photographer, makeup artist, videographer, fashion stylist and hair stylist. Most people fall for this scam by mediocre, as it is human to opt for what takes less money off our pocket which can give almost same satisfaction, therefore falling short of looking into the creative style and finish of the professional a client wants to hire.

Yes i know, expensive doesn’t necessarily mean Best, but looking at the clear fact 80% of the time expensive means: Better service, better deliveries, better process, and all round BETTER.

The reason a creative in this context a photographer, might decide to have his/her price higher than most is best known to him/her as he could have a team of stylist, makeup artist, retoucher/editor on ground ready to give you the best you require, and all this comes at a cost you know?

Finally, i would like brands/clients to know better on not just jump on any person who calls himself a creative because he/she charges way less than another. Kindly take time out to check this creative portfolio and compare and contrast before reaching a decision, so you don’t end up regretting your decisions in the long-run and end up spending more.

We are all gear heads when it comes to photography as we often get lost in the fantasy that better equipment means amazing images. Hold up! i’m not saying better photography gears do not have reasons behind them been better or expensive.I can as well tell you, someone picking up a Canon 1Dx mark ii camera as a new bee or an amateur photographer cant produce images made from a entry level camera like a canon rebel, shot by a professional photographer.

What does this mean? 

This simply means photography is more about the person behind the camera and not about the camera or gear u own. A camera and other Photography gears are machines that needs be told what to do by a human, before they can take action. A camera cant shoot nobody itself.

So you can own an Iphone and still make amazing pictures if you know how to use it correctly, u can own an entry grade camera and still produce amazing images people will resonate with and book clients or make big sale from.

And knowing how to use your camera all boils down to your knowledge of photography. Photography as the word implies is Photo - meaning light And Graphy according to Wikipedia means field of study. Therefore photography is the study of light.

So there’s no way you want to produce an image without the use of light and not just the use of light, but the study of the way light works.

In other words for you to be able to get the best from the gear you own in producing a picture you should understand how light works.

WHAT, WHEN AND WHERE.

What light to use

Assume u just starting out, the only and best light you got is the God given light which is the natural light(Sunlight).you can make epic images from this as people have grown business worth millions from using natural light only, example of such people is Sue Bryce.

Shooting with natural light is easy as you can pick up your phone and get images from this with a click of a button on your phone but wait!! Click the button when the light is right, and when composition is right too.

Firstly, I could shoot a fashion image of someone by bringing my friend out in the sun by positioning him in a way that 

• He stands diagonal to the direction of the sun i.e a little sun on his face and then a shoot from short side (shadow part) facing the camera.

• Reason i would do this is never ever make your background look blown out. i.e you should always see details at the back of your subject.

• So that means i exposed for the sun/background therefore making the background pefectly exposed and since the same sun is hitting my subjects face, he gets exposed correctly. 

Secondly, i can turn my friend facing the sun directly although would prefer this in the evening or early in the morning as the sun wont make he/she squint and light would look soft at that time making the image turn out looking amazing. Therefore the background looks well lit at the same time. 

And lastly i would ask my subject to turns his back against the sun therefore making his shadow fall towards me. Now wait!, this is where your mobile phone would act up by making your friend underexposed ie less light as u cant see any details or make ur friend look perfectly exposed while making your background look blown out. So while in this situation, heres how you can fix your mobile phone from deciding for you and ruining your picture.

• if i can get a white material (clothes, reflector disc, or a white board, any white material etc) you can hold it up and reflect the sun from behind your subjects to his/her face then get a good picture this way.

When to shoot 

I would prefer taking pictures early in the morning or late in the evening (golden hour sun light) because the sun is often at an angle at this times and likewise the light at this times are often soft and looks great on your subjects skin.

I don’t like high noon as the sun is directly 90 degree on your subject very hard to shoot with this type of lighting and it turns out to be an hard light or harsh light in which your subject would be squinting all through the photoshoot .. as it’s preferably the sun is at an angle 

Remember the Sun rises at the east and sets at the west, therefore shifting the angles of the sunlight at different time of the day.

Where to shoot

When you just have to shoot at high noon, you can always try looking for shade to move your subject into for the images, Things that can cast shadows like a tall tree, sides of buildings etc. Therefore creating a soft natural light for your phone photography or outdoor photography.

In this time of global pandemic which was unforeseen and unimagined by most people and creative at large, it’s taking a toll on some, while others are making the best of the situation.

I have seen creatives designing different means or route to continue creating and still been relevant to their communities such as shooting via FaceTime, creating multi person calls between creatives and clients to either educate clients or keep in touch with prospective clients on the business of photography etc. Some other creatives have used this opportunity to create competitions such as retouching competitions etc 

What’s the idea behind all this? 

I realised most creative are trying to make sure they stay relevant in to community and likewise still been able to reach prospective clients, by not making the current lockdown situation get a toll on their business in a negative way.

Meanwhile, some other creatives are sitting out this situations and waiting for the restrictions and social distancing be lifted before going back in business, which I think is a total wrong perception, As community is important to engaged with.

And with the social distancing law in place, it would be a different type of market after the Covid 19 lockdown, as securing new client might be tricky because people would rather prefer to work with people they are familiar with or worked with before, than someone new which they do not know thereby not putting their health at risk. And we all know understand the chain in the market, when one client works with a creative and gets a good and safe service he/she tells two and the market keeps growing that way.

So photographers, filmmakers, makeup artists, wedding event planners etc, it isn’t too late to come up with a target scheme or strategic plan to reach out to clients while still staying relevant in the creative industry.

Firstly i would to start off by saying it isn’t really an easy decision to make, leaving ones home country (Lagos, Nigeria) where i have created a niche and a brand for myself as a beauty and Fashion Photographer (TIM MCBAJ VISUALS) and move down to a new or alien country (London, UK.), to start a new life and a new brand as a Fashion Photographer in London all together and create a new connection with people.

WHY DID I TAKE THIS DECISION?

The reason i decided to travel and permanently relocate to London UK, is mainly because, i took some time out to think about how my future should turn out, about my Photography business in general and life as a Fashion photographer in Nigeria, i realised there isn’t really much fo me in that country as i cant make a steady living and earning from doing what i love as a creative, because of lots of factors such as; the economy, the limited number of fashion or beauty brands in the country and lastly the level of creativity i was driving towards wasn’t the type, most Fashion brands in Nigeria were really buying into as they are for the Nigerian Fashion Industry.

So i placed all these into consideration and then decided to take a leap of faith and follow my photography passion, by leaving for a country that i would be able to make my dreams and passions a reality.

WHY LONDON UK?

I decided to opt for the United Kingdom, because when i sourced on google on countries with major or Top fashion brands one of them was the Uk, and i couldn’t choose Italy because of the language barrier.

Finally, i made this decision with hope that it will turn out fine in the nearest future and i put some plans in place to ease my integration into the new society, by reaching out to other creatives, modelling agencies, and with time i will each out to Fashion brands ( decided to hold back on this as i need to create contents and fashion images that resonate with this new society and international standard).

I tried retouching or editing this portrait of Ibegbunam Chinelo Ijeoma a Mahogany Model using both dodge and burn and frequency separation retouching or editing technique, so i could differentiate the way the both retouching techniques work.

Gels - This could be colour temperature balance translucent materials

Gobos - otherwise knowns as go between, are materials either translucent or solids with shapes imbedded.

New people coming into photography see images shot with colour gel as very difficult to achieve thereby losing interest in wanting to try out this photography style, but in this photography tutorial i try as much to simplify this by also trying out different lighting techniques using gels and gobos (go behinds).

Studio Photography is an interesting style of photography with a different type of setting to be used in camera to achieve amazing images .

New people coming into photography see images shot in a studio space and might be willing to try it out, as shooting with studio strobe is different from shooting photography with natural light.
