358 Days, 17 revisions, 3 continents later, PageTraffic 3.0 is here

The spoiler to this great story is that you may already know it.

If you are reading straight from our blog, you must have noticed the new website. It’s only been a few hours and we have got compliments from around the world. Quite a relief when it comes after more than a year of mind racking, hair splitting, sanity threatening efforts.

The idea of launching a new site came almost two years back. However, due to pressing campaigns. It was 358 days back that we got down to work on conceptualizing for a new site. Soon, we realized the
enormity of the task at hand. There were quite a few new things we wanted to try and a couple of new services to launch.

Most importantly, we wanted the new site to be more engaging, more open and more forthcoming than any other site we had seen. We wanted people to be able to see inside the company and be a part of it. The
idea was to interact at multiple levels. While the idea is simple, it took some time, a very long time to be honest, to reach at something we felt good about.

The home page was the toughest, which took us 17 revisions to arrive at what is now online. The internal sections, such as Career, Company,
Help & FAQ
demanded significant though and work. Teams from USA, U.K. and India were involved during various stages of the design process.

Moreover, social media has become a natural extension of SEO when it comes to internet marketing these days. We have been handling the SMO accounts of many clients for over a year now. So, we decided it

In almost all of our campaigns, we have recommended code or structural changes to remove the bottlenecks for search engine crawlers. Numerous clients suggested that if we know so much about we

Goodbye PageTraffic, hello PageTraffic!

Google Analytics has now been made even more global. The Analytics blog announced the availability of Google Analytics in six more languages: Slovak, Bulgarian, Greek, Catalan, Lithuanian and Vietnamese. This has made it accessible in a total of 31 languages. The users can see the new languages updated in the language menu, on the Google Analytics login page.

It's a cross-functional effort by the Google to localize its Analytics experience in these added languages.  Google already has now more than 150  Google Analytics Authorized Consultants (GAAC) from over 35 countries and the major regions of Asia Pacific, US, Europe, Canada, Latin America, Middle East and Africa. This new addition is sure to add to the growth.

Google Analytics is available in 6 more languages

Mobile ads have now been made more potential in terms of reaching to the customers. Google announced that now mobile phone users will automatically get click-to-call phone numbers of the advertisers or the companies to directly contact them for details of their services.

This feature will be available only on the 'high end' user phones with full HTML browsers. To bring it into practice, Google already sent an email notification to its AdWords advertisers notifying them about their location specific numbers to be displayed along with their website URL in the mobile ads.

The new Google feature will allow the users to call the advertisers directly if they don't wish to visit their website on mobile phone browser. This is being considered as a more relevant feature for the mobile browsers as it is related to the 'make a call' technology of the mobile phones specific to user location. The users will be charged for every call they make with similar charges that were set for accessing the advertiser's website on every mobile click.

In order to set up this feature Google has guided its advertisers to follow just to simple steps:
● They need to set up their location extensions and add their business number to be displayed in their mobile ads. Customers will click on that number to call the advertisers and avail their service.

● Then advertisers should select 'show your ads' in their mobile ad campaigns to be displayed on the iPhone and other high end mobile handsets which carry full HTML browsers.

The advertisers can easily track the number of phone calls made to their businesses by logging into their Google AdWords account and clicking on the Campaign Summary tab.

Similarly to opt out, the advertisers can select 'remove the phone number'  from their location extensions in Google AdWords. This will automatically stop displaying their phone numbers in their mobile ads to the browser users.

Now get click-to-call phone numbers in mobile ads on Google AdWords

Google Analytics had launched its skill qualification program Google Analytics IQ last year. Google Analytics blog has announced  that the passing score, previously 75%, has been raised to 80%. It may be that the analysts were doing so very well in this qualification program that this easy test has now been made difficult to clear.

However, the people who have qualified this program earlier at the minimum passing score of 75% need not worry because it won't affect their current qualification. But they will be required to re-qualify at the new set score bar of 80% in order to renew their qualification after every 18 months of their initial qualification.

So, all those people who are looking forward to qualify this IQ test must be more careful next time and start brushing their knowledge.

Google Analytics IQ Passing Score Raised From 75% to 80%

Google's official blog announced the launch of the beta version for its Social Search. The effect of this will be that now on all web and image searches will have results from blogs/reviews/public images uploaded by your friends and social contacts.

The image results are displayed under the heading 'Results from your social circle'. These pictures are the ones that are publicly published by your social contacts on the photo-sharing sites on the web like Picasa, Flickr etc. In beta you'll also find two new links as 'My social circle' and 'My social content'. The first option provides the user with the extended network of online social contacts and the details about the way that particular user is connected in that network.

While the second option of 'My social content' produces the published content pages of the online contacts in the social circle. This initiative by Google allows the user with a better social connectivity on the web thereby improving the search results of Google as an effective search engine.

At the end of year 2009, Google had launched its social search experiment to make the user search experience more personal and relevant in terms of the web content coming from the friends and other online contacts. Now it’s launched with a more user friendly and improvised social search in beta.

We're leaving a "beta" label on social results because we know there's a lot more we can do. If you want to get the most out of Social Search right away, get started by creating a Google profile, where you can add links to your other public online social services.

Google Rolls Out Social Search In Beta

The Google Reader Blog has announced a new functionality which allows creation of custom feed for web pages that don't offer their own feeds.

This will ensure a track of the website changes made on any web pages. These custom feeds will in turn alert you about every updated information on your favorite web pages. Google Reader initiated this new feature to easily follow the updates through its custom feed, even for those websites that do not have their own RSS feed.

These custom feeds are most useful if you want to be alerted whenever a specific page has been updated. For example, if you wanted to follow Google.org's latest products, just type "http://www.google.org/products.html" into Reader's "Add a subscription" field. Click "create a feed", and Reader will periodically visit the page and publish any significant changes it finds as items in a custom feed created just for that page.

 Bing has launched its all new In-depth stock pages to do research about investments in US stocks and funds.

This new feature provides the user with all the information about the stock market and finance. Considering the recent downturn of the world economies, this new research information providing system is a great help. It might not predict trends or but goes a long way in getting all the data together in one place for those who are wary of compiling data.

Bing Launches In Depth Stock & Fund Pages For USA

Yahoo! Search Blog has announced that the algorithm update is underway.

Yahoo! Updates its Search Index!

Google advertisers can now target ads based on devices and carriers of the users. This will enable better results if the messages delivered are device or carrier specific too. For example, if a certain ad is designed for iPhone users then only they will be receiving that ad while, android phone users will not get it on their phones. This is achieved by optimizing the landing pages for specific devices and carriers. 

Apart from this, Google has also allowed its advertisers to market their mobile applications along with their ads on the iPhones and Android phones via Google AdWords. The users can now download these mobile apps in the iTunes App Store or Android Market options by directly hitting the 'Download' link provided with the mobile ads. There will be no URLs now. Advertisers need to include ‘itunes.apple.com/' or 'market.android.com/' followed by the app name in the ad's visible URL. This will automatically display as 'Download iPhone App' or 'Download Android App.'

This is another indication of Google’s intent to have a fair share of the Mobile marketing industry.

Yahoo! is planning to launch its enhanced Sponsored Search with two add on features next week. Network distribution and AdWords Import features are aimed at providing the Yahoo! advertisers with more control and transparency.

Network Distribution

New Improved Yahoo Sponsored Search For Better Advertising In 2010!

Google Mobile has launched an all new localized search suggestions feature for the iPhone and Android phone system users. Based on the user’s current or last location, it makes searches on mobile devices easier and more relevant.

For example, if the phone user begins the Google search by typing a word like 'muse' while he is in   New York then, this new feature will automatically provide the user with search suggestions like 'museums in New York' or 'museums of fine art in New York'.

However, to make this feature working in your phone, you must first refresh Google.com in your phone browser to set the new optimized settings. Also, it is important that you turn on 'Save recent locations' and 'Allow use of device location' options under the Settings link on the Google.com Home page. Once you finish with these setting adjustments, one can do this improved search on your phone and see the suggested searches.

Now Google Serves Location-Based Search Suggestions On Your Phone

A new change in the display URL policy has been declared in the official Google Adwords blog. The change will take place in the policy for URL’s displayed for the ads that lead to hosted domains. The sub-domain part of the domain needs to be displayed along with the main domain.

This policy can be understood with the help of an example. Let’s say if the URL for the AdWords blog is http://adwords.blogspot.com, then in that case, the display URL according to rules should be adwords.blogspot.com and not just blogspot.com. This change applies to all URL's.

The change in the policy is meant for all the hosted domains and should be applicable to all of them.

For example, it's always easy to remember landmarks like a red building at the corner than a particular street name. Moreover these street names/boards are not even visual at times, whereas a good landmark is always visible.

Google claims that its new service will be more helpful in the situations like when one needs to make exit from the subway or when one needs to know an exact point to turn. At times people also like to confirm that they are walking on the right track or not. Now people have Google with them to tell them the exact route to their destination, if someone is traveling to an unknown place.

Google has already tested this service with drivers in Bangalore, India. It made the required changes after the trial and now they have added more landmarks and they have tried to be less dependent on street names. The best part if it is that now Google will serve as a local for its users in determining a route to a particular place.

Google is expanding its Google search services for its users. The next time you query Google, you'll experience a new service added to Google. In every query, Google provides some suggestions. These suggestions appear in a list and are supposed to save your time. Though this has been introduced on the home page of Google, as 'Google suggest' since August 2008, the menu is now getting additional universal features .
 
For example if you are looking for a particular country's capital. You'll get your answer in predictions only by typing 'capital of  United Arab Emir…'
 

Similarly for weather of a particular area, you'll get to see many search options in that list helping your search to get more precise while entering your area of interest.
