Deva Dubs ‘n’ Rods is one of the most chilled out, laid back, warm and usually sunny car shows in the UK, it attracts a fantastic range of Volkswagen (both air and watercooled) and Hot Rod / American custom show cars. The venue at Shrewsbury Showground is an 80 acre greenfield site which during the second weekend of each June comes alive with a show packed full of family and car related activities! The showground is located just 10 minutes walk from the market town of Shrewsbury.

The weekend kicks off on the afternoon of Friday the 8th June (gates open from 2.00pm) where you have chance to set up your camp and start to enjoy the unique vibe that is Deva Dubs ‘n’ Rods. On Friday evening the entertainment starts with BB’s & JDG’s VW Related Pub Quiz in the main bar followed by 3 professional circuit comedians and the evening closes with a few tunes if time allows.

Saturday will bring you a wealth of traders from all over the UK, the ‘Daily Driver’ Show & Shine (with top 10 trophies), the fun fair will be in full flow, the bike race with a difference, the inter club 5-a-side football competition, the evening this year will again see JDG and the Narni Shakers host the fun themed disco. The theme for this year is something a bit different that hasn’t been done before – Ancient Greek Olympics and Toga Party!!! What with London holding the Olympics – a spin on that ‘theme’ might be something fun…

Sunday is the main show day where you will see a stunning array of show cars in the central arena, the quality of which is just jaw dropping! Of course the traders will be busy selling their wares Deva has some great catering, a children’s magician, the charity auction in aid of Brad’s Cancer Foundation, then there is the autojumble, cars for sale, club and themed displays, a live camper based band and much much more!

All weekend has on-site security and first aid, along with toilets, showers and site cleaners and one of the most friendly and professional show crews you could wish for.

Deva does everything in its power to ensure you have the best time possible at the show, without you guys it just wouldn’t be the show it is!

The return of NAS Events to Uttoxeter Racecourse for the first VW Action ‘Lazy Sunday’ was very well received as thousands of VW enthusiasts soaked up the July 2011 sunshine and the great family atmosphere. We saw plenty of cars and folks who for one reason or another don’t seem to make it to the more southerly events and the Show & Shine display was nothing short of awesome!

The Bus Pull, Campervan Cookoff and VW Charity Auction were all very much enjoyed, as was the whole vibe of ‘Lazy Sunday’ being based around the more leisurely elements of VW Action shows – no racing, bands or discos, just cars, clubs, and cool. Many took advantage of the laid back campover on the Saturday night and the chilled atmosphere in the campsite was very special.

For 2012 we’ll be repeating those elements – the Bus Pull, the Campervan Cookoff, and a Charity Auction (in aid of Brad’s Cancer Foundation),as well as Traders, Autojumble and a Show & Shine.

Like VW Action itself, ‘Lazy Sunday’ is for enthusiasts of all VAG marques – a show where all VAG vehicles are welcome with open arms.

All clubs are invited to display during the day, but if you want your club to be part of the show, you need to act fast. The earliest club bookings get pride of place, and we expect to see a good number of clubs and registers represented, so get in early!

After witnessing the success of combining engines and live music at the Drusilla’s Inn Steam Rally in 2007, VDUB At The PUB was born. However John had different kinds of engines in mind; Volkswagen engines! For 2 years, VW’s from near and far flocked to Drusilla’s Inn to enjoy a weekend of cars, music and beer. Show upon show, the numbers grew and grew and in 2010 VDUB moved to a larger show ground – the grounds of Wimborne Town Football Club – where it still runs today.

The 3-day event caters for everyone; from the music addict partying hard into the night, to the family enjoying a quiet weekend away from the hustle and bustle. From the beginning, VDUB has been passionate about supporting local charities and in the show’s history thus far, has already raised over £5000 for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance!

VDUB prides itself on being a family-friendly event and usually the boogying toddlers put the adults’ dancing skills to shame! This year we have a garden games, a free bouncy castle for the under 14‘s and a new “Children’s Corner” where your little ones can play the day away. Why not check out Pete’s Didgeridoo workshop where he’ll be teaching the complex art!

For the windsurfing and aquatic sport lovers, we are teaming up with the legendary Windfest Team, with BMX performances on show!

For the ale lovers, we will be hosting the Piddle Brewery mini-beer festival at this year’s show, run by the Wimborne Town Football Club staff. And there’s no chance of going hungry with our vast array food outlets, delivering delicious dishes for all.

If you’re looking for that specific car part for your beloved VW, then our free jumble alley might take your fancy, alternatively there are a host of stalls selling a range of items, from cushions to T-shirts to Didgeridoos.

Friday night entertainment is hosted by the VDUB Soundsystem; a crew of DJs who will have the arena dancing all night.

Saturday sees a host of countrywide bands and singer-songwriters taking to the stage, the line-up takes the excellent quality that has gone before and adds some new, exciting acts to spice things up.

And of course, Sunday wouldn’t be Sunday without the VDUB Show and Shine contest where enthusiasts can enter their vehicle in up to 11 different categories, with prizes for the winners.

This year, our fancy dress theme is “crazy sunglasses” for the whole event, so Elton impersonators should find this one a doddle!

Camping for the whole weekend is £18.50pp which includes your entry ticket. Under 14’s go free, must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets for day entry are as follows: Friday = £4, Saturday = £4 (before 12pm), £6 thereafter. Sunday = £5

Please, be aware if you bring your dog, it will only be allowed OUTSIDE the fenced arena, they are permitted in the camping and parking areas, this is for health and safety reasons, thank you.

Big Bang VW festival in conjunction with Volksworld Camper and Bus magazine is the first and friendliest VW festival on the calendar. Despite high-octane racing and two music arenas, the festival remains as laid-back and family friendly as ever. All Vee Dubs are welcome!

Three days of VW fun in the sun with great racing, music and entertainment at the home of European Drag Racing! All Beetles and buses, campers and Caddies, Golfs and Ghias are welcome at the show to enjoy the Run What Ya Brung (RWYB), show & shine, Drag Racing, or simply filling the camp sites with VWs and chilling out.

Take your own VW down the strip on Saturday! Learn the basics of Drag Racing, beat your mates and test your car in a safe and legal environment. All drivers must bring a valid driving licence to sign on.

Drag Racing
Things get serious on the dragstrip on Sunday with championship drag racing from the VWDRC classes of VW Pro and VW Sportsman plus the hot rods of Super Modified, and Outlaw Anglia, along with 8.50 Bike, 9.50 Bike, Sportsman ET, Junior Dragster and Junior Drag Bike.

Show & Shine Competition (Sunday)
Got an awesome custom car, rare original or restored stunner? Whatever species of VW it is, if it looks cool, get it into the Show and Shine on Sunday. It’s free to enter and you’ll be sure to have a crowd. (VWs only – NO VAG – sorry!)

Live Music
A full line-up of brilliant party tunes and serious live music across 2 arenas. Whatever floats your boat, there’s bound to be something to make you boogie at Big Bang, including live bands and DJs. The Marquee will be open from 8pm until midnight and Fuelers Bar until 1am.

Festival Circus
This fast-moving and spectacular show features a host of circus skills like daring trapeze, amazing juggling, dazzling acrobatics and, of course, the circus clowns! (Sat & Sun.) There will also be circus workshops in between shows each day where children can have a go at activities that include Acrobatics, Unicycle, Diabolo & devil sticks, Juggling & plate spinning, Stilts & balance boards.

Head to Fuelers Bar on Saturday afternoon for some top stand up comedy.

Adrian Bird’s stunning ‘Gonzoline’ Volksrod Bug will be on display at VW Action South West over the weekend of April 13th – 15th.

We feel very privileged to have the winner of ‘Best Of Show’ at the recent Volksworld Show held at Sandown Racecourse in attendance. If you have not seen this car in the flesh we strongly suggest you check it out. The attention to detail is outstanding and the car is a worthy winner.

Over the years, from the very first GTI Festival events in the late 1980s, the shows have attracted hordes of Volkswagen enthusiasts to several different venues around the UK. The GTI Festival and ‘Inters’ were for a decade or more, just about the only specialist watercooled VW events of the year. Now, we have a busy show calendar.

The GTI Spring Festival is now established as the real ‘season opener’, and THE one day show for all enthusiasts of all VAG marques, SEAT, Skoda, Audi and of course Volkswagen. And now the Volkswagen Group includes Lamborghini, Bentley and Bugatti too! The GTI Spring Festival, is a show where all VAG vehicles are welcome with open arms. All clubs are invited to display during the day, and after a very well received revamp of the show layout, the clubs area is now able to accommodate in excess of the 40 clubs who regularly attend the event. The GTI Spring Festival Show & Shine has a massive number of awards including Best Audi, Best Skoda, Best SEAT, and Best VW, Best Engineering, Best Paint, Best Engine, Best Van and many more. The Santa Pod Quarter Mile
Only VAG vehicles are permitted on the hallowed Santa Pod quarter-mile at GTI Spring Festival, and as pioneered by NAS Events, your signing on fee is for the entire day, not just for one or two runs. Awards on the track include quickest VW, Audi, SEAT and Skoda, as well as a number of awards based on engine sizes. At Santa Pod, you are driving on a superb purpose built surface, and using world record standard calibrated timing. The Santa Pod marshalls and safety teams are the most practised and efficient staff in Europe. Basically, you are getting the absolute best available when you sprint at GTI Spring Festival.

DIZZY RASCALS
Racing with a difference… and it’s free!
And they said drag racers don’t do bends. Introduced in 2010, and free to take part, is the totally insane ‘Dizzy Rascals’ course. A course which is a combination of ‘double roundabouts, straights and chicanes, and which was such a runaway success last July. It was all a bit bonkers, a bit ‘anarchic’, but lots of fun for contestants and spectators alike. The course is very suited to short wheelbase front wheel cars, but 2011 saw everything from Lupos to Transporters having a go at driving the day’s fastest lap, for which a trophy was awarded. There was a constant line of participants, the squeal of tyres, and the crowded spectator area. One car on the track at a time, against the clock, with awards for the fastest boyz and girlz! It’s a completely untried combination of sprint and autotest, it’s free, and you just have to give it a go!

GIRLZ N DUBZ
Girlz N Dubz features the coolest cars and the hottest owners! Girlz N Dubs kicked off at GTI Festival (VAGfest) in July 2010 and was an immediate success – 2011 saw even more ladies entering into the spirit of the show. It’s worth noting straight away that all cars entered into the Girlz N Dubz competition are automatically included in the main Show & Shine, and will be judged alongside the regular Show & Shine in addition to being considered for the many Girlz N Dubz trophies. We expect the Girlz N Dubz display to grow and grow, and after a good start last year, we are confident that the competition will be strong and the number of contestants will grow each year. Entry is free, and open to all female owners of VAG cars. Ladies we won’t be checking V5s or anything, but you DO need a car to enter.

GTI Spring Festival also features a special Girlz N Dubs ‘Wildest Ride’ award to the quickest female on the dragstrip during the event. The Girlz N Dubs ‘Wildest Ride’ trophy will be contested between all girlz, (whether or not they also have a show car in the Girlz N Dubz contest.) Normal signing on fees apply.

After a successful first show at Castle Combe Race Circuit last year, Dub Aid is back for another go, with a brand new venue! This year sees the show take place at Charlton Park Estate in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, home to the Womad Festival.

The larger venue means room for more campers, more traders and more fun!

Raising money for the RNLI this year, the Dub Aid team have put together a jam packed weekend of classic and modern VW’s, entertainment, Show & Shine competitions and much much more! Gates open at 12.oo noon on Friday 30th March for weekend campers, camping tickets are advanced only and are on sale now. If you can only make it for the day entry is only a fiver per person, Saturday and Sunday!

The weekend’s entertainment includes some local up-and-coming bands, and also the fantastic Rocker Covers are back again to headline on the Saturday night. With nautical themed fancy dress also on the Saturday night, it looks set to be some party!
