Another FAQ: Self-published “Witch Doctor”

January 13th, 2014

FAQ: Can I buy a copy of the original self-published Witch Doctor issue from you?

A. Alas, no! There were only 400 of “Witch Doctor: First Incision” made, and we sold them all! And when I say “sold them all,” I mean I don’t even have any in my personal collection! (Well, I think I have one. But that’s it. Seriously, one copy.)

Also, Witch Doctor #0 (which was sold as a flipbook with The Walking Dead #85) is a redone version of “First Incision,” with a re-written script and redrawn art. So you aren’t missing out on too much!

BUT if there’s anything else you want to buy, most Witch Doctor stuff is available through my online store — and you can get it signed! It’s the easiest way to get signed Witch Doctor stuff outside of finding me or Lukas at a convention.

Witch Doctor FAQs

January 7th, 2014

Hey folks! This is Brandon. Wanted to take a moment and address some questions I’ve been spending a lot of my time answering lately.

FAQ. When’s the next Witch Doctor series coming out?

A. We don’t know. We aren’t working on it right now.

FAQ. What?? WHY NOT???

A. Because, basically, I (Brandon) can’t afford to. Witch Doctor is hugely time-intensive for me, and I can’t support myself on what it’s paid me so far. I’ve had to put the book on pause while I do other work.

Witch Doctor isn’t dead. I’m just focusing on other stuff. But please don’t ask me for an ETA on the next story arc, because I don’t have one to give you.

FAQ. So? Why don’t you just Kickstart it?

A. We’re getting that suggestion a lot. I can’t really explain why without going into details of publishing contracts and stuff, but it’s not an option for us.

Sorry I don’t have better news! But I do hope you won’t hold it against me, and will check out my new projects in 2014 — including Disney Kingdoms: Seekers of the Weird from Marvel Comics! Seekers #1 drops next week (January 15), and it’s very much going to appeal to fans of Witch Doctor!

WITCH DOCTOR: MAL PRACTICE #1 (of 6) is on sale now!

November 29th, 2012

And the critics like it!

Newsarama gives it a 10 out of 10! “On all fronts, Witch Doctor: Mal Practice #1 is a step up for a series that was already hitting all the right notes. This is some can’t-miss comic reading right here. Bring on issue #2.”

Bloody Disgusting gives it 4.5 out of 5 skulls! “this is an excellent first issue with very few, if any, flaws. The only thing holding it back is that this is the first issue, and so there isn’t a lot of weight to the proceedings. Still, that’s an extraordinarily minor complaint. This is definitely one to pick up.”

Ain’t It Cool News gave it their thumbs up. “Those looking for a truly unique take on horror will most likely already know about WITCH DOCTOR. This new miniseries, MAL PRACTICE looks to be another winner. And if you don’t know about this comic yet, now you do, so check it out.”

IGN says, “As a continuation of their strong start, Seifert and Ketner deliver a worthwhile new chapter with Witch Doctor: Mal Practice #1.”

Broken Frontier , “In reviews of Witch Doctor’s first volume, I gushed over the potential of both the property and its creators. With Mal Practice #1, Seifert and Ketner turn in another brilliant masterpiece of occult medical comedy-drama that only validates my initial prognosis. Genre-bending, hilarious, and often down-right disturbing, the (Witch) Doctor is definitely in, just in time for the holidays.”

Comics Should Be Good gives it 8 out of 10 stars. “Witch Doctor was one of the best comics of last year, so it’s great that Seifert and Ketner are back with a new mini-series.”

Signed Witch Doctor issues now available online

November 10th, 2012

People have been asking us for years how to get signed Witch Doctor comics, without going to a convention. The bad news is, there’s still no good solution to get comics signed by Lukas except going to an event that he’s at.

But the good news is, Brandon’s now selling Witch Doctor and the other comics he writes online, and each one has the option of being signed by him!

About Witch Doctor

It's a sick world.

Literally -- the universe is an organism, and the creatures of myth and folklore are invading parasites, preying on the native species and disrupting the ordered systems of the world.

It's a sick world, and Dr. Vincent Morrow's here to treat it. Headhunted into an exciting new career in the black arts after his excommunication from the medical community, Morrow serves the world with both hands -- one in magic, one in medicine -- as earth's protector. Earth's Witch Doctor.

Witch Doctor is a medical horror comic written by Brandon Seifert and illustrated by Lukas Ketner.

"Witch Doctor is awesome. It's House, M.D. by way of H.P. Lovecraft. Witty, gross, gorgeously drawn and just plain fun." - Brett Warnock, publisher, Top Shelf

"Any true horror fan should keep their eyes on Seifert and Ketner." - Mike Dringenberg (co-creator of The Sandman)

"There should be more horror comics like Witch Doctor.
