On today's podcast, we wanted to cover a very important topic. It's forefront in our culture, yes, but it's also important in the church, too. Specifically, in worship and songwriting. That topic is ... women in ministry.

We here at The Worship Podcast (All About Worship & WeAreWorship) completely affirm and believe in the ability, anointing and commission of women to minister to the church body, and of course, to others around them. In a way, it's strange to even feel the need to type that sentence. But as society and culture is starting to have some real confusion and controversy over this gender topic, we believe as Christians we should lead the way in freedom! We should set the example in empowerment, equal contribution in the Kingdom of God and a general attitude of preferring one another.

Now, this is a huge topic! So we wanted to sit down with someone who is making a real difference in this world. Her name is Krissy Nordhoff. She leads a ministry called "Brave Worship". She's also an accomplished songwriter, anointed worship leader, wife, mother, and lucky for us, a friend of The Worship Podcast ministry! It doesn't matter what "side of the aisle" you believe you are on when it comes to this topic - we can all benefit from having genuine conversation and even more important, listening.

Being a good communicator is more than simply talking. There is a time to speak, but we must strive to be great listeners. Just so we all know; listening isn’t that thing we do when we are waiting for our turn to talk! What do your team meetings look like? Do you feel like the attitude of your team is better or worse than it was six months ago?

Connection
To take your team to the next level, you have to move beyond communication and develop a connection. Connection within a team doesn’t happen overnight. You must be intentional. Connection is a result of spending time with your team. It is the result of walking through difficult seasons and situations with one another. Connection comes when you are willing to say “thank you” and “I’m sorry”. If you have to be the one who gets credit for every idea, you are going to be your own worst enemy. That is a connection killer.

Capacity
The result of good communication and connection with your teams will lead to a greater capacity.

1 Corinthians 12:20 (NLT) explains, “Yes there are many parts, but only one body…” Our different ideas, opinions and gifts will cause us to grow and increase our team’s capacity. As you prepare for your next week or event, embrace the differences and connect with your team.

Since 2007, Matt Perkins has served as the Worship Arts Pastor at Faith Assembly in Orlando. He, and his wife, Marybeth, have served in full-time ministry since 1992, leading worship ministries in Florida, Wisconsin, California, Colorado, and Illinois.

The local church is a key focus in Matt’s ministry. He is determined to affect positive change and to see worship leaders reach their full potential through holistic leadership.

A published songwriter, Matt has also ministered and performed with recording artists, Martha Munizzi, BJ Putnam, Freddy Rodriguez and William McDowell. He has also developed choirs and performed with Josh Groban, Pat Boone, and the late Ray Charles.

Experienced in Ableton Live software training for worship, Matt is a self-proclaimed geek. He is serious about “Life, ministry and the pursuit of techiness”.

Also know as “Pastor Gadget”, WordPress, podcasting, and electronics consume him. He on the other hand, consumes coffee; lots of it. If not on stage or his office, you can find Matt at Starbucks, Best Buy or the Apple store (he’s an Apple fan-boy through and through).
