A Week In The Life with Colby Brown Starts Today

Colby Brown is a freelance photographer based in Denver, Colorado. He shoots contract work with National Geographic and the Sierra Club. Recently Colby ventured to Wyoming to uncover some breathtaking images from the area. Over the next week we will take a glance into his adventure.

Colby's Overview

The problem with having a passion for shooting landscape photography is that most of the amazing places around the globe have already been photographed so much that there is little room for unique creativity. That doesn’t mean that you can’t still produce amazing photography work from places like Jackson Hole, Wyoming or Yosemite National Park… it just means that you have to work that much harder then the other 500 photographers that happen to be driving through the park at the same time. Call me selfish but I love the enjoy nature in solitude, which is why I am always on the look out for locations that are still wild.

As a freelance photographer I have both the benefit and the burden of working for myself a lot of the time. Large contract jobs keep me going, but it is the work in between that usually puts the food on the table and keeps my creative juices flowing. Earlier this year someone mentioned to me that Wyoming’s Wind River Range had all that beauty of the Tetons but lacked the crowds of people that Jackson Hole is so famous for. After doing some research, I came across some personal photos of Titcomb Basin, located 15 miles into the heart of the Winds near Pinedale, Wyoming. I knew exactly where I was going to explore. My girlfriend, Sarah, usually accompanies me on all my photography jobs as my assistant and before we knew it, we were preparing to head for “The Wonderland of America”, Wyoming.

F-Stop Satori Bag Review by Ryan Cathrall

Mountain bike photographer and custom decal maker Ryan Cathrall was kind enough to send in a very detailed review of the F-Stop Satori. The following write up is Ryan's take on the Satori and Tilopa photo backpacks.

By Ryan Cathrall (www.rufusphoto.com)

I had the chance to demo the full line of F-stop gear last year for F-stop and so far I have been incredibly impressed. F-Stop prides itself on being a photo/video bag company specializing in the action sports photography demographic. Packs and bags are catered for the specific needs and desires of todays top action sports photographers and changes are made based on real world suggestions.

Snowboarding, biking, mountain climbing, skating, you name it, the F-stop bags and packs will make sure that your gear is safe and secure and easily accessible even if you are hanging 60 ft on a single rope taking shots of a rock climber.

I have been using the Satori and the Tilopa packs for over a year now. The Tilopa is a smaller version of the Satori but it packs the same features albeit a little smaller so this review will be based primarily off of the Satori.
