There is a new Behind The Scenes look at Brandon Roger’s upcoming single “Broken” posted online. The track will be released on August 19th via Authentik Artists on iTunes and other online retailers. Brandon Rogers was featured on season 6 of American Idol and made the top 12 of competition.

Don Cheadle and Guy Pearce have signed to topline “Traitor,” an espionage thriller from Overture Films. Cheadle also will produce along with Mandeville’s David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman as well as Jeff Silver.

Jeffrey Nachmanoff will direct from his own script, which is based on an original idea from Steve Martin.

The story centers on a CIA operative working undercover with a terrorist group who becomes a terrorist suspect. Cheadle is the undercover agent, while Pearce is an FBI agent investigating terrorist activities.

“Traitor” is the sixth project Overture has picked up for distribution in as many months. The company — which has a goal of releasing eight to 12 movies a year — recently came aboard to distribute the action thriller “Righteous Kill,” starring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, and greenlighted “Last Chance Harvey,” starring Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson, which begins shooting in October in London.

Despite his desire for solitude, Henry can’t help noticing Dawn (Radha Mitchell), the beautiful young divorcée next door and her daughter Millie (Morgan Lily), an eight-year-old amateur spy who hasn’t spoken a word since her parents’ break-up.

Henry’s self-imposed exile is shattered when Esperanza discovers a mysterious stain on Henry’s stucco wall that is seen to have miraculous powers. She begins leading pilgrimages to the “holy site” and invites church officials, including her pastor, Father Salizar (George Lopez), to inspect the apparition.

Although Henry remains skeptical, he finds himself gradually drawn back towards life, especially after his silent friendship with Millie brings him closer to Dawn. As news of the apparition spreads throughout the neighborhood and his feelings for Dawn grow, Henry realizes his plan to live out his days in quiet desperation is going to be much harder than he ever imagined.

Watch the gold medallist get up to 3 million kids involved in the week long event

Dame Kelly Holmes is touring the UK to mark the first ever National School Sport Week – a week-long celebration of PE and school sport across thousands of schools in England.

The government initiative, which is supported by Norwich Union, was launched in May by the Olympic champion and Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Teachers and pupils were encouraged to come up with innovative activities to help celebrate and raise awareness of all the good work taking place in PE and school sport across the country, and over the course of the week, it hopes to engage over three million school children – the largest number ever to get involved in PE and school sport at any one time.

The event is supported by new research which reveals the impact school sport has had on successive British generations. According to the research, many people say that school sport has helped them develop a competitive spirit; taught them leadership and teamwork; and helped them develop skills they have needed later in life. Many of us also have fond memories of our school sports days – with 10% saying it was the thing they looked forward to most all year!

During the week, Dame Kelly, as part of her ongoing role as National School Sport Champion, will be touring the country via helicopter – dubbed the ‘Kellycopter’ – to see first-hand how schools and pupils have gotten involved. She will also be meeting with Gordon Brown to discuss the opportunities to launch further initiatives in PE and school sport over the coming years.

Duffy, one of Britain’s biggest singers, became the focus of Sex Pistol John Lydon’s anger at a music awards ceremony recently.  

The luckless Duffy approached Johnny Rotten from behind, (apparently this is a Bad Thing) and tried to hug him, (Even Worse in Johnny’s mind) before the two were scheduled to pose for a picture.  ”F*** off, you c***!”, the punk rocker screamed at her before his minder, Rambo carried Duffy away.  

The Welsh singer was so shaken by the incident that she burst into tears and left the ceremony immediately.

Later Lydon labelled the incident ‘a bad incident for binge drinking’.  More like a bad advert for John Lydon…

TV Presenter launches the ‘Skills Street’ campaign urging more people to learn a new skill

Have you ever wished you could learn IT skills but simply don’t have the time or perhaps you’d like to become a chef but lack of money is putting you off? Well now a crack team of experts headed by TV Presenter Carol Smillie are here to help.

In less than ten years, there will be few unskilled jobs in the UK and the government predicts that two out of three jobs in the future will require a higher level of skills and better qualifications. As a result the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) have launched ‘Skills Street’, a campaign which aims to highlight the ever-increasing importance and benefits of improving your skills - did you know that investing time and money in learning a new skill could grow your annual salary by £2,000 to £3,000?

The campaign kicked off with Carol and her expert panel visiting a number of homes on a street in Yorkshire to assess the skills residents have and which they feel they lacked. The panel offered advice, highlighted the skills they may benefit from and suggested local training providers – demonstrating how accessible modern learning can be.

One of the main aims of Skills Street is to show people that learning a new skill is not as difficult as it may first appear and to showcase the variety of learning and funding options available including Apprenticeships and the Adult Learning Grant. Whether you are an 18 year old who wants to learn fresh IT skills or a pensioner who has always wanted to learn horticulture, there is a course out there for you. A casually dressed Julia Roberts wearing jeans and a white canvas jacket signed autographs for visiting schoolchildren after appearing on Late Night with David Letterman (06/05).

However, she was more reluctant to pose for photographs for the waiting paparazzi. After much pleading and name-calling, Julia stopped briefly turned to the cameras and stared.

Julia is staring in the ambiguously named ‘Fireflies in the Garden’ – described as a family who overcomes some unforeseen tragedy. ‘Unforeseen tragedy’ describes most families.  

The beautiful red headed Julianne Moore signed autographs on Tuesday after her appearance on Late Night With David Letterman. Wearing big black sunglasses and a black horseshoe shaped bag to match, Moore waved to the cameras as she signed autographs for schoolchildren from Oklahoman church choir.
Moore’s most recent role in the movie, Savage Grace, has caused some controversy. She plays British socialite and mother, Barbara Daly Baekland, who was murdered by her son Tony (Eddie Redmayne) in their London flat in 1972. The drug-addicted family had an incestuous relationship.

Buzz Lightyear returns to outer space with NASA

Ever since he crash landed in Andy’s bedroom over 10 years ago, Buzz Lightyear has dreamed of returning to the stars and on Sunday 31st May, at Kennedy Space Center, he once again went to infinity and beyond.

Standing at an impressive 12 inches, the Space Ranger’s mission will see him spending 7 months on the International Space Station where he will fly in zero gravity, as part of the “Toys in Space” initiative developed by NASA and Disney. The program builds on NASA’s educational goals of encouraging students to pursue studies in science, technology and mathematics subjects.

The Space Shuttle Discovery mission STS-124 will travel with seven astronauts to install Kibo’s large Japanese Pressurized Module and the lab’s robotic arm system. For the demanding mission Buzz has opted for his legendary high-tech space suit. The high-pressure, deep-space visor and terillium carbonic alloy wings have adequately prepared him for demand zero gravity.

Buzz’s groundbreaking mission into space also coincides with the launch of his latest debut on Earth in Toy Story Mania! Disney Parks new attraction that opens 31 May at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

The Hollywood star helps launch ‘Be Water Wise’ campaign to end 4000 child’s deaths each day

Hollywood beauty Joely Richardson, who starred in hit series Nip/tuck and Disney’s 101 Dalmatians, has returned from Malawi where she went on an emotional trip to raise awareness of the one billion people in developing countries who do not have access to safe drinking water.

With no running water, these families have no choice but to drink from contaminated rivers and streams which leads to more than 4,000 children dying unnecessarily every day. As a result Joely is calling on the British public to support the ‘Be Water Wise’ campaign, which aims to donate a total of 80 million litres of safe drinking water to children in developing nations.

The programme has already provided 1 billion litres of clean drinking water for children and their families in need around the world. Working in partnership with Children’s Safe Drinking Water Programme and Five and Alive, Ariel has pledged to donate 10 litres of safe drinking water per special pack purchased in the UK – equivalent to a week’s supply of drinking water for a small child in the developing world. The initiative will enable the public to help get safe drinking water to families in countries that need it most.

With your help, the partnership can continue to expand these efforts and provide immediate relief to families in crisis in countries including Uganda, Kenya, Malawi, Pakistan, Democratic Republic of the Congo and Ethiopia. New research released today by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society reveals that over 5 million hay fever sufferers may be confusing their symptoms with a cold or flu and taking inappropriate medication to treat their condition. Almost 13 million people suffer from hay fever each year in the UK - experiencing uncomfortable symptoms including; runny noses, blotchy skin and streaming eyes - but new research shows that 42% of hay fever sufferers may be confusing their condition for a cold or flu, with almost three quarters (73%) admitting to taking medicines to treat their symptoms without first seeking advice from a medical professional.

With this year’s birch and grass pollen seasons overlapping, some experts are predicting that this year’s hay fever season will be one of the worst seen in the UK, as more people are suffering from symptoms earlier in the year. Whether its global warming or growing sensitivity, figures support this increase with £87.6 million spent on over the counter hay fever remedies in 2006, a rise of 17% compared to the previous year.

While some hay fever symptoms can be annoying - for some the effects of the condition can be more serious. Research reveals that 2 in 5 hay fever sufferers become irritable, 29% have difficultly concentrating and a third have difficultly sleeping. 1 in 10 said they are embarrassed about their appearance and avoid socialising whilst 1 in 20 hay fever sufferers say they avoid leaving the house.

Lindsay is concerned about the new reality series ”Living Lohan” and she thinks her little sister will turn her life upside down if she continues taking advice from her mother.

The Chicaga Sun-Times reports:

According to a longtime Lindsay associate and friend, the star thinks the show has the potential to be ‘‘really toxic’’ and is also convinced Dina’s manipulation of Ali’s career will mess her up — as she thinks her own life has been.
Lindsay supposedly has tried to talk to her sister about all this, but Ali has stopped taking her calls, unless she promises not to dis their mom.

Remind me again, why is Lindsay advicing her baby sister on how to live her life right? Shouldn’t she be focusing more on her own?

Even in celebrity weary New York City, where on Monday (04/21) I saw Maria Sharapova play tennis with Billy Crystal in the middle of 53^rd Street and 14 blocks away on Broadway I saw Bette Midler, Helen Hunt and Sarah Jessica Parker at a movie screening,  Madonna still makes news.

The material girl was in
New York for the screening of her new documentary, “I Am Because We Are,” at the Tribeca Film Festival. Madonna produced the movie about
Malawi orphans who have lost their parents or siblings to AIDS.

I found it strange that while Madonna was out promoting her documentary as
Malawi’s High Court delayed a hearing to finalize the pop star’s adoption of a boy from the southern African nation until May 15.

Hollywood star Patrick Dempsey and his stunning wife Jill sent the paparazzi into a frenzy last night, as they arrived in a burgundy Maserati Quattroporte Executive GT to the VIP screening of his latest movie, Made of Honour.

A car enthusiast and a successful racing driver, Patrick Dempsey was greeted, as he climbed out of the Maserati Quattroporte at London’s über-cool Soho Hotel, by a host of celebrities including shoe designer Jimmy Choo, rugby player James Haskell and actor Mohammed George.

Sony Pictures’ Made of Honour, starring Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghan and directed by Paul Weiland, opens across the UK on Friday, May 2nd.

The Maserati Quattroporte features a 4244 cc V8 engine, which produces an impressive torque figure of 460 Nm at just 4250 rpm and 400 hp at 7000 rpm. The collaboration between Maserati and German transmission experts, ZF, has resulted in an exceptionally flexible and responsive six-speed automatic gearbox that allows changes at engine speeds up to 7500 rpm. This endows the Quattroporte with truly superb performance figures: a top speed of 167 mph, and 0-62 mph in just 5.6 seconds.

There, Jason is charged with a monumental task: he must free the fabled warrior the Monkey King, who has been imprisoned by the evil Jade Warlord. Jason is joined in his quest by wise kung fu master Lu Yan (Jackie Chan) and a band of misfit warriors including Silent Monk (Jet Li). But only by learning the true precepts of kung fu can Jason hope to succeed - and find a way to get back home.
