41th International Film Festival Rotterdam 25 January – 5 February 2012 PRESS RELEASE 4 February 2012 MONSIEUR LAZHAR wins UPC Audience Award GOODBYE wins Dioraphte Award The UPC Audience Award of the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2012 goes to Philippe Falardeau’s MONSIEUR LAZHAR (Canada, 2011). The award comes with prize money of 10,000 Euro. The Dioraphte Award (also 10,000 Euro) for the highest-scoring film in the audience poll among the seventeen festival films made with support from the Hubert Bals Fund was won by GOODBYE by Iranian filmmaker Mohammad Rasoulof. IFFR 2012 counted 274,000 visits to films, exhibitions, performances and events. The first Curaçao IFFR will take place from 29 March through 1 April 2012 in Willemstad; the 42nd International Film Festival Rotterdam from 23 January through 3 February 2013. 41e International Film Festival Rotterdam 25 januari – 5 februari 2012 PERSBERICHT 4 februari 2012 MONSIEUR LAZHAR wint UPC Publieksprijs GOODBYE wint Dioraphte Award De UPC Publieksprijs van het International Film Festival Rotterdam is gewonnen door MONSIEUR LAZHAR van Philippe Falardeau (Canada, 2011). Aan de prijs voor de favoriete film van het festivalpubliek is een bedrag verbonden van 10.000 euro. De Dioraphte Award voor de publieksfavoriet onder de zeventien festivalfilms die mede dankzij bijdragen van het Hubert Bals Fonds tot kwamen, is gewonnen door GOODBYE van de Iraanse filmmaker Mohammad Rasoulof. The young people’s jury announced the winning film during the International Film Festival Rotterdam this afternoon during the MovieSquad Award Ceremony. The MovieSquad jury consisted of five members aged 15 to 19 years: Nick Golterman, Manon Keus, Symen Hoogesteger, Juliette van den Dorpel en Roxanne Doorn. 41e International Film Festival Rotterdam 25 januari – 5 februari 2012 PERSBERICHT 2 februari 2012 WEEKEND wint MovieSquad IFFR Award 2012 De Britse speelfilm WEEKEND van regisseur Andrew Haigh heeft de MovieSquad IFFR Award 2012 gewonnen. De jongerenjury maakte dit vanmiddag bekend voorafgaand aan de vertoning van de winnende film in de Pathé Schouwburgplein in Rotterdam. De jury bestond dit jaar uit vijf jongeren met een leeftijd tussen de 15 en 19 jaar: Nick Golterman, Manon Keus, Symen Hoogesteger, Juliette van den Dorpel en Roxanne Doorn. Zij keken niet alleen films, maar discussieerden er ook over. Ze spraken met filmmakers en filmjournalisten en waren te gast op filmfeestjes. 41e International Film Festival Rotterdam 25 januari - 5 februari 2012 PERSBERICHT 22 januari 2012 Filmfestival Rotterdam verkoopt eerste 100.000 tickets Het International Film Festival Rotterdam heeft drie dagen na de start van de online kaartverkoop ongeveer 100.000 tickets, eenderde van de beschikbare kaarten, verkocht. Voor de kassaverkoop vanaf woensdag 25 januari 09.00 uur worden voor alle filmvertoningen kaarten beschikbaar gehouden. Dan zullen SHAME van Steve McQueen, HUGO van Martin Scorsese en THE DESCENDANTS van Alexander Payne snel uitverkocht zijn, maar voor de andere ruim zeshonderd festivalfilms zijn nog volop kaarten verkrijgbaar. 41e International Film Festival Rotterdam 25 januari – 5 februari 2012 PERSBERICHT 21 januari 2012 IFFR hervat online kaartverkoop Het International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) heeft zaterdagochtend 21 januari om 10.00 uur de kaartverkoop hervat, nadat die vrijdagavond 20 januari vanaf 21.45 uur is stopgezet toen bleek dat een aantal bezoekers hun gekochte kaarten niet direct per email kregen toegezonden. Het IFFR vertoont vanaf woensdag 25 januari tot en met 5 februari ruim zeshonderd lange en korte films. Voor vele daarvan zijn nog ruimschoots kaarten beschikbaar. Donderdagavond 19 januari ging probleemloos de kaartverkoop van start voor houders van een Tiger Friends- of Unlimited-pas. Vrijdagavond 20 januari om 20.00 uur begon de online kaartverkoop voor alle festivalbezoekers. 41e International Film Festival Rotterdam 25 januari – 5 februari 2012 PERSBERICHT 17 januari 2012 IFFR en EYE brengen hommage aan Bart Vegter Het International Film Festival Rotterdam brengt in samenwerking met EYE Film Instituut Nederland tijdens de komende festivaleditie een postuum eerbetoon in twee delen aan de eigenzinnige, abstracte-filmmaker Bart Vegter. Naast de negen korte films van Bart Vegter worden werken vertoond van filmmakers met wie hij een band had, zoals Stan Brakhage, Peter Struycken, Joost Rekveld, Dora Maurer en Koike Teruo. Het IFFR geeft het oeuvre van Vegter uit op DVD in samenwerking met EYE Film Instituut Nederland. Bart Vegter legde zich in zijn vroegste werk toe op animaties van geometrische patronen, later evoluerend tot kalme computeranimaties die doen denken aan natuurlijke processen.
