Leadership New Jersey produces videos from 2011 Forum on the Future of New Jersey

Leadership New Jersey, the public policy seminar program aimed at creating better leaders for the Garden State, has produced new videos from its 2011 Forum on the Future of New Jersey with Lubetkin Global Communications. This year’s Forum, held at Rutgers University’s Newark campus, focused on “Can the Garden State become a ‘label-blind’ society?” through several presentations and panel discussions.

Leadership New Jersey produces podcasts about the role of the lieutenant governor

New Jersey residents interested in discussions about how to define the role of the lieutenant governor can hear thought-provoking panel discussions about the new elected office, thanks to public policy training program Leadership New Jersey and Cherry Hill based Professional Podcasts LLC.

For the fourth year, Leadership New Jersey has worked with Professional Podcasts to produce audio podcasts based on its annual “Forum on the Future of New Jersey.” This year’s Forum, “Who will be New Jersey’s FIRST Lieutenant Governor? And what should the Lieutenant Governor do?” featured panel discussions of the role of a lieutenant governor in New Jersey’s government. This year’s conference was held at Monmouth University, West Long Branch, Monmouth County, on October 8, 2009.

Again this year, the podcast programs are available to the public for downloading and listening on computers or digital audio players at no charge. Listeners can download the programs at Leadership New Jersey’s podcast blog, http://lnjpodcasts.blogspot.com, and at http://leadershipnj.org/ffnj2009.html.

Start with municipalities.Too many levels of government in NJ today. NJ is #1 in total tax burden per capita, including state and local property taxes.

Too much government bureaucracy. Suggestion to consolidate into county level government, but Tim thinks should eliminate county government as a cost-savings. County govt and services are redundant.

How do we deliver services efficiently to residents? Problem, particularly in land use, which determines job growth, housing, etc., local government does things that cannot ever add up to necessary goals in NJ. Given local govt some of the "wrong things to do."

It’s a full-day seminar and town hall meeting at which public policy participants and corporate executives exchange views on the best practices that will help New Jersey government deal with the many complex issues it faces.

Today’s panels come on the heels of a new Monmouth University/Gannett New Jersey poll that says nine out of 10 New Jerseyans think government should be overhauled at all levels. Minority Leader, NJ State Senate
Senator Lance was elected to the Senate and reelected in 2003, serving as Minority Leader since 2004. He was born and raised in Hunterdon County, earning a bachelor’s degree from Lehigh University and a master’s degree from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs of Princeton University.

Speaker Roberts has been a New Jersey Assemblyman since 1987, was elected to serve as Assembly Speaker in 2006. A graduate of Rutgers University, the Speaker has spearheaded a comprehensive legislative package that has strengthened the state’s campaign finance and ethic laws, as well as curbing medical malpractice costs.
