The Center for World War II studies and Conflict Resolution at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft, NJ, presents a video podcast from its fall lecture series. In this program, Richard Leitman discusses his book Dear Roz: Wartime Letters from Overseas, based on letters his father wrote to his mother from the European Theater.

Lubetkin Global Communications is pleased to be producing video podcasts from many of the Center’s lectures this year. The productions continue a collaboration that dates back nearly 40 years between Steve Lubetkin and the Center’s director, Prof. Paul Zigo. As a student broadcaster at Monmouth College in the 1970s, Steve provided production support to Paul’s weekly radio program, “Speaking of Monmouth.”

Michael G. Kesler, Ph.D.

In this episode of the Middle Chamber Books and Music Podcast, we speak with Michael Kesler, Ph.D., author of Shards of War: Fleeing To & From Uzbekistan, his memoir of the harrowing experience he and his sister Luba encountered as Jewish teenagers fleeing the Ukraine ahead of the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941. After the war, they returned to their hometown of Dubno and found all 8,000 Jews, including their parents and relatives, in mass graves, and their home taken over by Ukrainians.

Blinded by glaucoma in 2006, Michael edited and published his late wife Regina’s memoir, GRIT: A Pediatrician’s Odyssey From a Soviet Camp to Harvard, and is currently at work on a novel about a family’s struggle with cancer.

Steve reviewed this concert for the Asbury Park Press in what is believed to be the first rock concert ever covered with a portable computer terminal.
